The first admiration was caused by the magical transformation of dirty laundry into fresh-smelling, semi-dry and practically uncrumpled clothes. The leaders in this parameter today are Samsung and Hotpoint-Ariston. Moreover, the struggle between manufacturers goes on for every centimeter and gram.

Samsung offers a machine with a depth of 45 cm (Samsung WF1802NFWS), and Hotpoint-Ariston has two models: one with a depth of only 44 cm (WMSD 8219 B), the second is slightly thicker - 48 cm (WMSD 8215 B).

There are also few machines with a depth of 50-56 cm with such a load - about ten, today they are offered by three companies: LG (LG F-1496AD3 - 55 cm), Hotpoint-Ariston (Hotpoint-Ariston WDD 8640 B 54 cm) and Daewoo Electronics (Daewoo Electronics DWD-G1282 54 cm), although I think the situation will change quickly and other manufacturers will also soon add their offers.

The narrowest machine, which can accommodate 7 kg of laundry for washing, is considered the Candy GO4 2710 LMC (manufacturers indicate a depth of 40 cm). Next comes Hotpoint-Ariston (for example, model WMSG 7125 B - 44 cm) and Indesit (IWSD 71051 - 44 cm), then Daewoo Electronics (model DWD-NT1011 - 45 cm), Zanussi (ZWH 6100 V - 48 cm) and Electrolux (EWF 1274 EDU – 48 cm).

There are already about 150 models on the market of devices with a depth of 50-56 cm, capable of handling a load of 7 kg, and there are significantly more manufacturing companies. Here are some examples: Beko WKB 71021 PTMA (50 cm), Candy GO 2107 3DMC (52 cm), Hotpoint-Ariston ARMXXL 105 (54 cm), Indesit IWE 7105 B (54 cm), Samsung WF0702WKV (55 cm).

For machines with reduced depth, such loading is already the norm. Almost every manufacturer has offers.

FOR THEM AND 5 IS A RECORD

In the class of super-narrow machines (33-38 cm deep), the load varies from 4 to 5 kg. The Candy EVO3 1052 D machines can load 5 kg - the depth of the model declared by the manufacturer is only 33 cm, and the Beko WKB 51231 PTMA - the depth is 37 cm.

4 kg is the norm for this class, so the choice is very wide: Indesit IWUB 4105, Zanussi ZWO 6102 V, Electrolux EWM 1044 EDU - the depth of these models is 33 cm; Samsung WF0400N2N – 34 cm, LG F-1068SD – 36 cm, Vestel AWM 1035 S – 37 cm.

How to choose and what to pay attention to?

A distinctive feature of narrow washing machines is their compact size.

But when choosing a suitable model, they focus not only on the dimensions:

1. Load type . All washing machines are divided into vertical and front loading devices. If there is little space in the room, it is better to give preference to a device with vertical loading. But, if the equipment will be built into a bedside table, a front-loading model will be more suitable.
2. Capacity . For a family of 2-3 people, a 3-4 kg washing machine is enough. But, if 4 or more people live in a house, it is better to buy a 5 kg washing machine.
3. Tank material . To ensure that the machine does not make too much noise during operation, you should choose a device with a tank made of composite material, although metal devices have a longer service life.

The most modern models provide additional functions, such as the ability to additionally load laundry or treat clothes with steam during washing.

COMPACT - HOW MUCH IS IT?

To make the machine COMPACT, its dimensions - width, height and depth - can be adjusted. But to varying degrees. The most “floating” indicator is depth: in addition to the standard 60 cm, the following are offered:

devices of reduced depth – 50-56 cm,

narrow – 39-49 cm,

super narrow – 33-38 cm.

Much less often, a manufacturer produces machines of non-standard width. There are few options - only 46 or 51 cm. Those with this width are almost always smaller than the standard in height. LOADING CAPACITY

Just a few years ago it was difficult to combine compact dimensions and a large load in a car. But now, even many of those buyers who have room for a full-size unit are purchasing thinner models, since they are quite satisfied with the load.

Not everything is measured.

The Beko WKB 61021 PTMA model has a declared depth of 45 cm, in reality it is 49 cm;

LG E 1091 LD – 44 cm, dimensions – 47 cm;

Candy GO4E 106 3DMW – 40 cm, actual – 44 cm;

The Samsung WF 8590 NMW8 is stated to be 45 cm, our tape measure showed 49 cm, and the Samsung WR 1802 WECS with the indicated 45 cm is actually 51 cm deep!

Most often, manufacturers discount high control knobs and the hatch handle. In principle, this is really not so critical; it is more important if the hatch protrudes significantly from the front and can make it difficult to move around a small bathroom or in a corridor. And for one machine the depth of the inclined control panel was not taken into account, that is, the size was taken along the edge of the top cover.

Therefore, if every centimeter is fundamentally important to you, do not be lazy, measure the machine yourself in the sales area.

HOW LONG IS IT IN SOCKS?

A load of 3 kg is 30 pairs of socks, or 10 shirts, or 4 duvet covers.

A load of 5 kg is 50 pairs of socks, or 17 shirts, or 6-7 duvet covers.

A load of 7 kg is 70 pairs of socks, or 23 shirts, or 9 duvet covers.

DO YOU NEED SO MUCH?

Service center specialists have different attitudes towards the desire of manufacturers to fit the maximum amount of laundry into a compact device. Many people believe that such machines can quickly break down: after all, there is very little space between the drum and the walls of the device, and there are tubes and wires there. They are cramped, they fray faster and fail.

PROGRAMS

In the list of programs of the machines we describe, the Shirt Washing mode is often found. It is suitable for both blouses (cotton or blended fabric) and T-shirts. Programs for washing sports items, their specificity, and taking into account the characteristics of fabrics (fleece, microfiber, etc.) are quite in demand. Programs for washing sports shoes in machines of non-standard depth are also found, but less frequently (Indesit IWC 6085 B, Atlant 50C101).

Quite interesting for this class of machines are programs designed for washing large items: curtains (AEG L 60270 FL), pillows (LG F-1092MD) and blankets (Electrolux EWF1076GDW). These programs generally allow you to forget that you purchased a small machine and do general cleaning on a grand scale.

In total, the number of programs for machines with reduced depth is normal and amounts to 12-15 (among them there are also mandatory spin, solo rinse and drain programs). Compact cars may have a limited list of modes, almost only a standard set, for example, the Daewoo Electronics DWD-CV701 PC (60x29x55 cm) has only five, the Euronova 1150 (46x46x68) has seven, the Eurosoba1100 (46x46x68) has eight.

The AEG L 60270 FL (52 cm) washing machine has a 20-minute cycle, and the Electrolux EWF 1076 GDW (52 cm) washes in 14 minutes. There are also longer cycles - 30 and 40 minutes.

WASHING CLASS

The washing class helps the buyer understand how well the machine washes in the main program (this is washing cotton at 60°C). The vast majority of cars have a maximum class A. However, among the cars we are considering, there are examples that have a lower class - B (Daewoo Electronics DWD-CV701 PC, Zanussi FCS 825 C, Kuvshinka 9000, Beko WKD 23500 T).

The vast majority of them are compact (all sizes are non-standard), which is understandable - it is more difficult for a machine with a smaller drum to provide high-quality washing, since the dimensions of the items remain normal.

SPIN

This is why machines can have problems with spinning, because even in the smallest drum we will put an ordinary standard duvet cover or jeans, but it will be more difficult for a small drum to distribute such large things evenly.

Therefore, it is no secret that devices with a reduced width and compact ones are often “jumpers”, that is, they do not always cope with balancing the drum during spinning and at the same time cannot stay in place (owners of such a miracle should level the device more often). Another property is noticeable noise during spinning.

The drum rotation speed of full-size machines now reaches 2000 rpm. For our devices, the maximum is no less convincing - it is 1400 rpm. Moreover, it is available in models with different depths: LG F-1496AD3, Smeg LSE147S, Siemens WM 14Q440 – 55 cm; Hotpoint-Ariston WDD 8640 B – 54 cm; Electrolux EWP 1464 TDW – 50 cm; Electrolux EWF 147410 A – 48 cm; Gorenje WS 53Z145, AEG L 85470 SL – 44 cm.

A large selection of devices with a speed of 1200 rpm, they are represented by brands: LG (depth 36, 44, 48, 55 cm), Bosch (40, 44, 45, 47, 56 cm), Samsung (45, 48, 53, 55 , 56 cm), Gorenje (44, 45 cm), Siemens (40, 44, 45, 47 cm).

At the same time, the majority of devices use more modest speeds of 1000 rpm, 800 rpm and even 600 rpm (Beko WKD 25060 R, Eurosoba 600).
