Safety precautions

Safety precautions for handling AEG electrical appliances comply with generally accepted safety regulations for handling electrical appliances. However, we believe that, as the manufacturer of this equipment, we must provide you with the following safety instructions.

Before first commissioning

• Follow the “Installation and Installation Instructions”

How to use the AEG washing machine correctly

Let me start with the fact that you must understand that the AEG trademark belongs to the Electrolux corporation, which also includes such a brand as Zanussi, that is, if you read reviews about any of these manufacturers, then all these comments will concern those brands which I listed above. In general, the internal filling of the AEG machine is “Electrolux” with minor changes in the arrangement of elements and, as a result, with all the inherent pros and cons. We will talk about the pros and cons in this article, and of course we will touch upon the manufacturer’s requirements for the operation of washing machines of this brand. First of all, I would like to say about the water pressure. If in your house or apartment the pressure in the water supply is below 1 atmosphere, then glitches will be possible, as is the law; in this case, error code E11 appears on the display, this error indicates that the SM tank did not have time to fill with water in the allotted time. Now, regarding the voltage, if your electrical current is below 210 volts or above 245 volts, then the washer may not even start washing at all. There are also pitfalls that you need to know about when purchasing this brand, below I will try to list them, and also tell you about the advantages that are undoubtedly present

The advantages of the AEG washing machine

They practically do not rot, the body is made in such a way that corrosion of the metal does not reach the iron, this also applies to washing machines with vertical loading, that is, those in which the laundry is loaded from above
They work quite quietly
Reliable engine
Additional rinse and spin are not related to each other

The water discharge filter is quite conveniently made; it traps debris and small foreign objects well.

Some models have protection against water leaks from the tank and pipes, it’s called AquaStop
Stable during spinning, even for top-loading washing machines, subject to vibration much less than similar washing machines from other brands

Undoubtedly, there are other advantages of this washing machine, I’m sure I forgot something, but it seems to me that this is enough to pay attention to this manufacturer

Disadvantages of the AEG washing machine

Very sensitive to water pressure , the pressure must be no less than that specified in the operating instructions for this AGR, this applies to all models of the AEG brand. From experience I can say that replacing valves or reflashing the brain does not help in this case. In general, if you have a water supply with poor pressure, then it’s better to look at something else
Very sensitive to voltage changes in the network. As I wrote above, if you have less than 210 volts in the outlet, then the machine simply may not start and, in addition, the control unit may break. In this case, it helps to install a current stabilizer that can equalize the voltage to the required 220 volts
AEG / AEG washing machines are quite expensive , they belong to the category of premium products, but at the moment consumer-class washing machines have also begun to be produced, so this disadvantage can already be removed

So, let's summarize. In general, the machine meets the price/quality criteria, but when purchasing it, you need to take into account the conditions under which it will be used. Be sure to pay attention to the water pressure in your pipes, and also measure the electrical voltage in the network. In short, here it is, if you have a tidy sum, then perhaps you can buy such a washing machine, but do not forget that the price for SM from this manufacturer is an order of magnitude higher than, for example, for Indesit

How to use AEG correctly

I'll start with connecting to the water supply and sewerage. The most important thing here is that the water drain hose is lowered no lower than 70 cm, this is necessary in order to avoid self-draining. Very often I come to people whose washing machine simply does not wash their clothes or washes them very poorly. The reason that this happens is often very simple and lies in the fact that the water drain hose is lowered below the required level and, as a result, the water can slowly go into the sewer, while new water will be collected in small portions, and as a result, before the middle of the wash, water can be completely renewed and there will be no more powder in the tank. In the photo below, you can see to what level the drain hose should be raised. Now, based on the water pressure, there is a cleaning filter in the water inlet valve; it must be cleaned periodically, at least once every 20-30 washes, it depends on the conditions where you live. Another nuance that few people know or simply do not pay attention to is the hose itself, the fact is that it also contains a mesh that performs the function of primary water purification; it also needs to be cleaned periodically. Next, I will tell you about small tricks that will help you increase the life of your washing machine.

Washing mode 90°C → many people abuse this. It is important to understand here that in this mode, the washing machine loses its resource, it works much longer, in addition, the heating element will also work much longer. As a result, the wiring heats up, the heating element relay contacts burn out, and scale accumulates on the heating element itself and the tank. Not to mention the fact that I often see how the wires from the terminals of the heating element burn away. In general, if you want your control module to last longer, you should avoid washing at 90 degrees.
Do not use low-quality and cheap powders → understand that these powders contain all sorts of crap that can corrode the cross, especially citric acid and other acids that consumers really like to use
Place a rubber mat under the washing machine → the result will impress you. Not only will your washing machine stop electrocuting, but it will also be much less afraid
Open the hatch and powder container slightly → after washing, be sure to open the washing machine hatch 3-5 cm, the same must be done with the powder container. As a result, thanks to this, you will get rid of the unpleasant odor.
Spin mode → here it is important to understand that anything above 800 rpm will not wring out laundry better than the same 800 rpm. The fact is that if you set it to 1000 or, for example, 1200, the spin time will decrease, in the end the result will be the same, but the bearings will fail faster. Remember, high-quality spin starts at 600 rpm, and everything above 800 is from the evil one
Wipe the sunroof glass → you should do this after every wash, don’t be lazy. The fact is that if your household has bad water flowing, then scale cannot be avoided, and this infection accumulates on the glass itself. Many people neglect this rule and do not do this procedure at all, as a result of which water leaks from under the cuff. Understand that scale on glass works like sandpaper, so it must be removed constantly
How to level a washing machine → many people level it. There is a small mistake here. The washing machine needs to be tilted back a little; if you look at the washing machines of friends or acquaintances, you will probably see that rust is usually visible under the powder container, this is the result of an incorrect tilt
Cleaning the filter → this procedure should be done at least after every tenth wash. Don't tell me that you check your pockets completely, it's all bullshit. Even the most picky housewife will not be able to shake everything out, something will still fly through her hands, besides, objects such as snake dogs or bra staples are very frequent guests in my workshop. In general, I take out not only coins and matches from the filter, but also a lot of other things
Separate outlet → be sure to install a separate outlet, and directly from the meter. Do not use extension cords, tees or Euro adapters under any circumstances. It is important to understand here that the current consumption of any SMA is not less than 2 kW, and as for the AEG, its minimum consumption is about 2.5 kW. Understand that few carriers can withstand this, and as a result, not only the extension cord will burn out, but also the brains of the washing machine itself may become covered. The wiring must be of very high quality

I think I described in great detail how to properly use the AEG washing machine. The instruction manual, of course, says a lot, but the manufacturer does not write the most important thing, namely what affects the service life of your washing machine. Believe me, if you follow the tips that I wrote above, your SMA will last much longer. • Before throwing away your washing machine:

Disconnect the appliance from the power supply, break the door lock, cut off the power cable and remove the plug and remaining wires. This will save children playing on the street from the danger of being locked in an abandoned car and thus ending up in a life-threatening situation.

It may seem that AEG Lavamat washing machines are ideal household appliances, unfortunately, this is not the case. They are not without their shortcomings. First of all, it is worth noting the fact that cars of this line are rare on the domestic market. Original models have a high price, which affects the number of offers. Often used cars come into our country.

Low prevalence entails complexity and high repair costs. A fairly common malfunction of this machine is bearing failure. Since the washing machine drum is non-separable, you have to choose between replacing an expensive unit or complex and time-consuming repairs.

There are practically no complaints about the noise of AEG Lavamat washing machines, but the procedures for draining water and filling the tank are quite noisy. The machine saves water, but you can often hear complaints about the quality of rinsing. To completely get rid of powder residues, you have to constantly use a vigorous rinse.

Another disadvantage is the inability to control using a smartphone. Nowadays, when all famous manufacturers have long realized the benefits of such a function, the German manufacturer is in no hurry to implement it.

In general, AEG Lavamat washing machines are a good choice for those who know how to count money. Despite all its shortcomings, this technique certainly has more advantages. High-quality washing, an abundance of programs for every taste, noticeable savings in electricity and water, all this plus real German quality, it’s worth paying extra for.

AEG Lavamat Protex is definitely a good purchase. The device lasts a long time and rarely requires repairs. But if such a need arises, users claim that it costs a pretty penny. The whole point is expensive spare parts that need to be ordered at the company’s factory. And since the plant is located abroad, they need to wait about a month for delivery.

Environmental tips

• If your laundry is normally soiled, you can

do without pre-washing. This way you'll save detergent, water and time (and be kind to the environment).

• The automatic washing machine works especially economically,

if you use our recommendations for loading laundry.

• For small loads, use half to two thirds

recommended dosage of detergent.

• With appropriate pre-treatment you

you can remove stains and local contamination. After this, you can wash at lower temperatures.

• Wash white laundry with a soil level ranging from

• Often you can omit the softening rinse.

Try it! If you use a dryer, your laundry will be soft even without a softening fabric softener.
