Designation of icons on a Samsung washing machine (Samsung) with description and photo

Modern Samsung automatic machines have a small display instead of a large number of indicators. Information for the user is displayed there: washing phase, time until completion, water temperature, etc.

To make the most of your smart assistant, you need to learn to understand what she is telling us using pictures on the panel and symbols on the display.

For those who have not yet mastered this language, we give the most complete explanation of the symbols on the panel of a Samsung washing machine.

Symbols on the graphic display

Display of work steps

Let's start with the icons that indicate the stage of the wash cycle. They are located in the upper half of the screen. There are only four of them:

  1. A basin with a Roman numeral I inside - this symbol means that the pre-wash cycle is in progress. Lights up if the user has enabled this option by pressing the desired button.
  2. Basin with number II - at this moment the main wash is in progress. The icon lights up either immediately after the start of this program, or when a manually activated prewash ends. The icon will light up regardless of the selected wash intensity mode.
  3. A half-filled bowl means rinsing. The machine automatically starts rinsing the laundry after the main wash. It is at this time that conditioner is added to the water if it was poured into the tray in advance.
  4. Spiral – spinning is in progress, the last step of washing. Turns on by default at the end of rinsing, unless the “No spin” function is manually set.

Image of options and general parameters

There are also options that complement the standard washing mode and can be started manually. What symbols are used to indicate them:

  • A T-shirt with two bubbles indicates the presence of the EcoBubble function. The built-in generator mixes washing powder, water and air to produce abundant foam so that it ends up in the machine drum before it is filled with water. This way, detergents dissolve better and contaminants are removed faster, even at low water temperatures.
  • The drawn iron is “Easy ironing”. When spinning, clothes will wrinkle less.
  • A basin with the Roman numeral I inside, as stated above, symbolizes pre-washing. There is a separate detergent tray for it. The function is activated manually before selecting the main mode.
  • T-shirt with a stain - intensive wash. Used for things that have old and difficult to remove stains. The point is to increase the time of each stage.
  • A basin of clean water – “Soaking”. Used to improve stain removal efficiency. This is done before the start of washing, which means the whole process takes longer.

The following are additional service symbols:

  • The lock next to the child's face offers to lock the panel from children's hands. The buttons simply will not respond to presses. To activate or deactivate the protection, you need to simultaneously press two keys for 3 seconds: “Rinse” and “Temperature”.
  • Clock – delay start for a period of 3 to 9 hours. You can set the start time of the cycle as desired by the user.
  • The drum with flash indicates the self-cleaning option. If the inner surface is heavily soiled, the Eco-Cleaning sign on the screen and a similar indicator on the panel will light up.
  • A crossed out speaker means switching to silent mode. To turn it on or off, you need to hold the “Rinse” and “Spin” buttons for 3 seconds.
  • The key is a door lock indicator. If it lights up, the lock is working and the hatch is closed.

The symbols in the middle of the digital screen will tell you how long to wait for the wash to finish, what the water temperature is, how many times the rinse will be carried out and how often the drum rotates during the spin cycle:

  • Washing time – shown in the center of the screen, the value gradually decreases. An error code appears in this field if something went wrong.
  • Above the basin, where an asterisk is depicted above the water, the degree of heating of the water is reflected. The heating level is adjusted by pressing the “Temp” key. The glowing lower icon indicates that the wash is carried out without heating the water.
  • After activating the “No spin” mode, the crossed out spiral sign starts to light up.

The digital screen is small, but very informative. At one glance you will be able to understand what is happening inside.

Eco function in a Samsung washing machine - what is it?

Before starting the program, read the instructions carefully to find out how to turn on the device. This cleaning must not be used while there is laundry in the washer. Thanks to Eco technology, not only the drum is cleaned, but also other internal parts that come into contact with water. The machine becomes clean, the likelihood of its breakdown is reduced, and its service life is automatically extended.

The main condition for launching the Eco option is the absence of foreign objects and laundry in the drum. Violating this rule may result in serious damage.

When is cleaning needed?

To prevent the user from wondering whether his machine needs special procedures, the Korean manufacturer has provided an alert. A picture appears on the electronic display (if provided) - a cylinder and a small star - see photo 3 for the image. At the same time, a certain light will flash on the mode switch, signaling the need to start the option.

If the mode is not started, the indicator and light will go out. They will turn on again after two washes. If you don't run the option right away, it's not an error - nothing critical will happen.

Typically, the cleaning light comes on once a month. But the function is not tied to time, but to the frequency of washing. The more often you wash, the more often the system will require cleaning.

Water temperature in Eco mode is 70˚C. It is impossible to change it.

How to run the function?

The Eco self-cleaning function can be started without a reminder. To do this, do the following:

It is recommended to clean the debris filter before starting the program. If this is not done, the effectiveness of Eco Bubble will decrease. “Eco Bubble” is a bubble wash in which water is enriched with oxygen, another technology from the Korean brand.

If there is no self-cleaning?

Does your SMA lack the above function? Then you will have to, armed with household chemicals, carry out the operation yourself. When choosing a chemical, one takes into account its impact not only on human health, but also on machine parts. At the same time, it should be as versatile as possible in order to cope with all problems at once - scale, mold, dirt, etc.

In addition to folk remedies - vinegar, soda, etc., you can use special products to clean the machine. They can be complex and against a specific problem.

Symbols on the control panel

Here are the regular or touch buttons that can be found on the panel of a Samsung washing machine:

  • A key with a standard sign in the form of a partial circle with a vertical line on top. Use it to turn the device on and off.
  • “Start/Pause” (the symbol is two vertical lines to the right of the triangle), which allows you to start the process after selecting a mode, and if necessary, stop it temporarily.
  • Some models have a “My Program” button (the picture is a profile of a person with a heart at the bottom). Makes it possible to save the user's individual mode into the machine's memory.
  • “Delay start of washing” – the button depicts a clock with arrows and allows you to set a delayed start time.
  • The “Spin”, “Rinse”, “Temperature”, “Easy Ironing” buttons do not raise any questions - they are simply labeled.

Do you like your Samsung washing machine?
Not really

In addition to the buttons, the control panel contains a toggle switch for selecting the main washing programs. All of them are signed and have names in Russian.

When the machine is running, you can see on the display the running mode and the time until the end of the cycle.

Buttons help enable or adjust an additional option.

How to use self-cleaning?

Starting self-cleaning of the washing machine should be carried out at the request of the equipment or upon independent choice. You need to act according to the following algorithm:

  1. Check that the drum is empty.

  2. Turn on the power.
  3. Set the switch so that the pointer is near the “Eco drum cleaning” mode. Typically this mode is located at the bottom right of the switch.
  4. Click "Start".
  5. The washing machine will automatically start the washing mode at a temperature of +70°C and minimum spin.

Before starting eco-cleaning, it is recommended to clean the drain filter. This will increase the quality of the processing performed.

You can learn about launching the “Eco Drum Cleaning” mode from the video:

Modes

Automatic washing machines handle the items entrusted to them with extreme care. But the result of washing depends in some ways on us:

  1. It is important to consider what fabric the items are made from. An incorrectly selected mode can ruin them.
  2. Load the machine no more than 2/3 full. If in doubt, it is better to put less laundry.
  3. When washing items prone to deformation, reduce the spin intensity or cancel it altogether.
  4. Things need to be prepared - repaired, fastened, especially delicate items must be turned inside out.
  5. Linen should be sorted by color, type of fabric, etc.

What choice of washing programs does Samsung provide us with for different situations?

Synthetics

Should be used for items made from fadeable or stretchable fabrics made from artificial fibers (such as nylon or polyester). Features of the mode: duration - 2 hours with heating no more than 60 degrees, spin at high speeds.

Cotton

For regularly used items made of thick fabric with minor soiling (towels and bed linen).

The default time is about 3 hours, it can be reduced by changing the settings.

Lasts up to 3 hours at temperatures up to 95 degrees and maximum active spin.

Delicate wash

For fabrics such as viscose and synthetic blends, most often these are underwear. It is better to use liquid laundry detergent. The cycle lasts approximately 40-50 minutes with heating no more than 40 degrees, with minimal spin or no spin at all.

Handwash

For products with a corresponding mark on the label.

Simulates manual processing: the minimum number of revolutions without spinning when heating water is no more than 40 degrees.

Wool

Such things require especially careful handling. The program provides for a larger than usual volume of water and a low temperature. The drum does not rotate, but swings. The cycle lasts about 50 minutes, you need to load no more than 2 kg of laundry and add no ordinary powder. but a special tool.

Kids' things

Intensive wash program for 2.5 hours in hot water with several additional rinses. This will destroy bacteria, remove even stubborn dirt and remove any remaining washing powder or gel.

Quick wash

The cycle duration depends on the machine model: 15 or 29 minutes. Express treatment of not very dirty items with low heat and strong spin.

Check out simple ways to clean your washing machine.

Daily

This mode is recommended for regular care of items that require frequent treatment. used for shirts. T-shirts, etc..

Intensive

In 2.5 hours it will make items made of cotton fabrics with difficult stains look decent.

His “clients” are towels, tablecloths, napkins, bed linen and even jeans.

Intensive Eco

A variation of the previous mode that saves energy. Differences: less heat and longer process time.

Outerwear

The mode was invented for tracksuits, jackets and other outerwear, including those made of water-repellent fabric.

The use of special detergents is recommended.

The peculiarity is the effect of foam and the reduction of friction of things on the drum.

Steam wash

There is a name “Refresh clothes”. Now you can wash your clothes without water. The program involves treating items with a stream of hot air without water or powder in two modes: odor removal (29 minutes) and sterilization (59 minutes).

On the site you can also find information on how to clean the inside of a washing machine with vinegar.

Clothes are placed in the machine one at a time, maximum two small ones. This way you can freshen even suits and coats. Before starting the program, you need to drain the water from the machine.

Spin, rinse + spin, drain

The washing machine has a separate spin mode (about 5 minutes). The function is used if the items are too damp after the automatic cycle has completed or if they were washed manually.

“Rinse + Spin” lasts about 20 minutes and is used when:

  • things are not dirty and just rinse and wring them out,
  • you initially forgot to pour conditioner into the dispenser, and the wash has already finished,
  • There are stains from washing powder on things.

The “Drain” option will allow you to forcibly remove water from the machine’s tank in the event of a leak, breakdown, or in other situations.

Self-cleaning

Eliminates the need to manually clean the drum from accumulated dirt and mold. Usually the indicator lights up on its own when it is necessary to start this mode. When started, cleaning occurs at 70 degrees within 90 minutes.

If dirt has accumulated inside your car, use the tips in this article.

Why do you need to clean the washing machine drum?

Thanks to treatment with cleaning agents, the drum gets rid of dirt, bacteria, mold, scale, unpleasant odors and soap deposits. If you don’t clean the “inside” of the machine in time, a putrid smell will emanate from it, and washed items will also smell like it.

If you neglect the cleanliness of the SMA, it will fail prematurely. If you bought a model with Eco, you don’t have to use special cleaning products or run the washing machine empty - the device will take care of its cleanliness.

Fault codes for Samsung automatic machines

If a problem occurs, the automatic machine will definitely inform the owner about it. For machines with a display, an error code will immediately appear on the screen; the old model will indicate this by flashing lights on the panel. Note that modern models have a larger number of fault codes. Let's figure out what this or that code means.

Features Features

The built-in drum cleaning function will prevent premature breakdown of the washing machine and will maximize its service life.

The fact is that with regular use of washing machines, as well as storing laundry intended for washing in a drum, the internal parts of such equipment constantly remain wet, with undissolved dirt particles deposited on the walls. These circumstances create favorable conditions for the growth of bacteria, mold, the formation of dirty deposits and unpleasant stagnant odors inside the drum.

Regular cleaning of the Eco drum in a Samsung washing machine will help get rid of all these negative aspects and prolong the life of your irreplaceable assistant.

The short word “Eco” in the name of this function means its energy efficiency and environmental friendliness , which are determined by the low level of electricity consumption during the drum cleaning process.

This function is necessary for caring for washing equipment, especially where water containing various foreign impurities is supplied. It is recommended to run autonomous drum cleaning at least 2-3 times a year , and then your machine will delight you with clean and fresh laundry for a very long time. Now you don’t have to waste your time manually cleaning it from the inside using various home remedies.

Turning on the Eco cleaning mode in a Samsung washing machine is not difficult; just press a couple of buttons and the process will start by itself.

Selection of chemicals

However, what should those who do not have an autonomous drum cleaning function do in their washing machine? Such users will have to take care of their equipment themselves using various cleaning chemicals , which are manufactured by modern manufacturers in a wide range.

You just need to remember that when choosing a chemical for cleaning the drum of a washing machine, you need to pay attention not only to how quickly and effectively this product copes with the task, but also to its safety for your health. In addition, such products should not have a destructive effect on the parts of the washing machine.

When purchasing a cleaning product, carefully read the instructions and decide for what specific purpose this product is intended: it can be a comprehensive cleaning of the washing machine or just some part of it.

Among the most popular means for cleaning the drum of a washing machine are the following.
