The washing machine does not stop and runs constantly

You traditionally started the washing machine, but after a while you realized that the program was not running as it should. Most often, RemBytTech clients note that:

  • The washing machine constantly washes without stopping and does not enter the rinse phase;
  • The spin cycle in the washing machine does not turn off; it constantly spins, but the drum does not pick up speed;
  • The washing machine constantly rinses the clothes and does not spin.

Before passing a verdict, it is necessary to exclude typical situations that can be mistakenly taken for “erases without stopping.” These include:

  • Stopping the machine with water. If your SMA has stopped without draining water, and does not turn off, see the article “Why the washing machine does not drain water.”
  • Machine freezing. If your washer freezes and won't run the program, check out the article "Why does your washing machine freeze on the wash, rinse, or spin cycle."
  • Increased wash duration. Does your machine wash for longer than expected but complete the program? Then the material “Why does a washing machine take so long to wash” is for you.

In this article we will consider only those cases when the machine constantly works, does not turn off and does not terminate the program.

Incorrect sewer connection

The siphon effect, or as it is sometimes called “self-draining,” occurs when the washing machine is incorrectly connected to the sewer. According to the rules, the end of the drain hose must be above the water level in the drum and be aired. Failure to comply with these standards leads to water flowing out of the machine itself.

Connection drain sma

The level sensor detects this and adds water again. This situation can last indefinitely. In some SMAs, this leads to an error or freeze. The reason for the failure is not obvious to everyone.

In any case, incorrect connection leads to excessive consumption of water and electricity.

Call the master

If you cannot repair your washing machine on your own, you need to seek help from a specialist.

There are several ways to find a master:

  1. Contact the service center.
  2. Find an advertisement in the newspaper.
  3. View advertisements on the Internet on specialized websites.
  4. Take advantage of word of mouth.

To avoid dealing with a scammer, you need to study in advance the approximate prices for different types of repairs:

  • cleaning the blockage, replacing the water supply valve - from 600 rubles;

  • repair of the pressure switch – 1500 rubles;
  • replacement of brushes – from 1400 rubles;
  • removal of a foreign object between the tank and the drum - from 600 rubles;
  • pump replacement – from 1500 rubles;
  • repair of the control board – from 2400 rubles;
  • replacement of the balance sensor – from 900 rubles.

The price does not include the price of the part. If repairs of spare parts are required, they are paid separately. An honest master will warn you in advance about how much his services will cost, so that the final payment does not become an unpleasant surprise for the client.

You need to ask the repairman in advance whether he gives a guarantee for the work performed. It must be documented.

A lot of important and useful information about repairing Indesit washing machines is presented in this section.

The heating element burned out

If the heater breaks down, the electrical circuit of the washing machine is disrupted, as a result of which the program can run endlessly in a circle. But quite often something else happens. The heating element has not burned out, but current leaks to the housing. As a result, a failure occurs at the software level or in the control module circuitry.

The consequences of this are very different. For example, an emergency drain of water and a new flood may occur. And so on all the time.

Important! The presence of a leak is determined by the RCD device. In a modern home, with a large number of electrical appliances, its presence is necessary.

If the heating element breaks down, it must be replaced immediately. Note that hard water, and as a result scale, reduces the life of the heater. The simplest method of prevention is citric acid.

Why doesn't the machine finish washing?

The washing machine has a complex design with many mechanisms that wear out over time and require repair or replacement. Therefore, the reasons why washing does not stop for a long time are very different. Some may indicate failure of component parts, others may indicate improper operation or connection of the equipment itself.

If the SMA wears off longer than usual, this indicates the following:

  • malfunction of the water supply system;
  • incorrect connection of the drain hose;
  • clogging of the drain system;
  • breakdown of the pressure switch;
  • failure of the heating element (heating element);
  • failure of the electronic module.

To understand which problems in the functioning of the SMA can be eliminated on your own, and which ones can only be eliminated with the help of a specialist, you should learn more about them.

Problems with the water supply system

This is one of the most common SMA problems. If water does not flow into the device body properly for some reason, the cycle time may increase significantly. In this case you should:

  • check the pressure in the tap;
  • clean the filter mesh from possible blockages;

  • check the operation of the intake valve.

Such actions will definitely help eliminate the problem with slow water collection.

Incorrect drain hose connection

Failure to follow the rules when installing this part can cause constant circulation of liquid in the AGR body, and consequently, long-term washing. Once in the tank, part of it will slowly but continuously drain into the sewer. Therefore, the machine will be forced to constantly compensate for the drained amount by adding a new portion.

To avoid this situation, the device must be installed in accordance with the operating instructions.

Drain system clogged

If the machine freezes during the rinse or spin phase, the outflow of dirty liquid is most likely impaired. In this case, you need to check the drain filter, pipes and pipes for possible dirt and debris. Thorough cleaning of them will solve the problem, and it is better to replace the pipes.

The cause of drain failure may be wear and tear on the drain pump. It is better to replace it with a new one, since after repair a worn part is unlikely to work for a long time.

Failure of the pressure switch

The machine will constantly pour water even if the pressure switch malfunctions, which controls the presence or absence of water in the tank. The sensor will no longer be able to transmit a signal to the control board that there is enough liquid and the supply should be stopped. As a result, excess water is formed in the tank, which will flow through the drain hose, creating a continuous water cycle.

Heating element malfunction

Often the heating element stops working correctly due to scale formed on it. Then the water heats up very weakly (or does not heat up at all) and it fails to reach the temperature set by the program. And if one of the conditions of the programmed cycle is not met, the washer will not receive instructions to continue the cycle and will freeze. In order for the electric heater to start working correctly, regular descaling is often sufficient. But if the heating element is worn out, it is better to replace it.

To prevent the situation from recurring, regularly use special anti-scale products. Such preventive measures significantly extend the service life of heating elements.

Control module malfunction

If the washing machine works as expected (washes, rinses, spins), but after completing one cycle it immediately starts another, then the problem lies in the control board. If an electronic failure occurs, the CMA will not recognize the end of this wash cycle and will automatically start a new one. This situation is dangerous not only for the equipment itself, but also for delicate items that are washed according to a strictly defined time.

Drain pump is faulty

Problems with the pump can cause the washing machine to not stop. Water is not pumped out of the tank and the controller continues the cycle. This may be due to a pump malfunction or blockage. Manufacturers have different electrical circuits with the logic embedded in them, so constant washing may only occur on some models.

The most insidious pump malfunction is loss of traction. That is, for example, it can easily pump out 3 liters, but when the tank is fully loaded it cannot. The controller does not understand the situation and continues the program. Then a replacement is needed.

Cleaning the pump

What to do first?

If a properly working Indesit machine suddenly starts to freeze while performing operations, there is no need to panic. Sometimes the slowdown in the operation of the device is not associated with a breakdown.

If a problem is detected, the priority actions should be as follows:

  1. Rebooting equipment . To do this, you need to hold the “Start” button for a few seconds. The running program must stop. If you cannot reset it, you must move the programmer knob to the neutral position and hold the “Stop/Start” button for 5 seconds. Then unplug the cord from the outlet and leave the device turned off for 15 minutes, then turn it on again.
  2. Check to see if the laundry is bunched up . If there is a serious imbalance, the machine may stop. If this really happens, you need to lay out the laundry manually, or divide it into 2 parts and spin them alternately.
  3. Check the specified program . There are options that do not involve spinning and draining water from the tank. In this case, they must be turned on forcibly.

If none of these problems were found, you need to look for other reasons for the washing machine freezing.

Control module

If all of the above breakdowns are absent, the problem is in the electronic module. This element itself is reliable, but can be damaged during power surges. If there is an endless wash, it will most likely not be possible to restore its correct operation.

Ask a Question

In this case, you need to consider purchasing a new module or washing machine.

There is another option. Make the machine semi-automatic. That is, forcefully stop the program and drain the water. In some cases this works. But it won't suit everyone.

This problem is inherent in any brands, such as: Samsung, LG, Bosch, Electrolux, Zanussi, Ariston, Indesit, Whirlpool, Kandy, Hansa, Gorenje, Ardo , Beko, AEG, Miele, Siemens, Kaiser and Atlant.

When you need specialist help

If you have certain skills, it is quite possible to deal with clogged filters, hoses or replacing them yourself. But it is unlikely that internal damage will be eliminated without the involvement of a specialist. Therefore, it is better not to take risks, but to entrust the repair to a specialist. The only way you can help the technician is to report the error code on the SMA display (if it appears). This way, the specialist will be aware of the essence of the problem in advance and will be able to take with him the necessary tools and spare parts. And this will significantly speed up the process of diagnosing and repairing the washing machine.

The filling path is clogged

Taking too long to draw water can also delay the cycle. Therefore, you need to carefully inspect the filling system. Check the inlet hose to see if it is kinked or crushed by a foreign object. Then you should do the following:

  • turn off the power to washing equipment;
  • disconnect the inlet hose from the washing machine;
  • rinse its cavity under pressure of water;
  • Remove the filter mesh and remove all dirt from it. If there is rust on the element, soak it in a citric acid solution;
  • install the filter and hose in their original place.

Inspection of the drain system is carried out as follows:

  • disconnect the machine from the network, turn off the water supply;
  • Unscrew the garbage filter; it is located in the lower right corner of the case behind a special panel. Before removing it, it is better to cover the floor with rags, as liquid will flow out of the hole;
  • clean the filter element, remove debris from the hole;
  • put the garbage filter in its original place;
  • Disconnect the drain hose and rinse it under high water pressure.

If cleaning the drain filter and hose does not help, you will have to go deeper. It is necessary to lay the washer on its side and check the pump pipe. Find the tube, loosen the retaining clamp and remove the hose from the pump. The pipe is cleaned and fastened in place.
