Practical Hans washing machines: 16 error codes

Hansa Comfort washing machine repair

This washing machine was purchased at the end of 2005 in Technoshok. Hansa Comfort 1000 spins at speeds up to 1000 rpm, respectively Comfort 800 - 800 rpm. If memory serves, there was also a model with a spin speed of 1200 rpm.

Error codes and repair principles for the Comfort line are the same. Therefore, below I will provide a table with errors for Hansa washing machines

Hansa washing machine: basic error codes

The Hans series produces 2 lines - Optimum and Comfort. They differ in their functionality and a number of characteristics. There are also external differences - the Optimum machine does not have indicator 21, as well as a difference in the purpose of some buttons; the controls on the SMA Comfort and Optimum are located identically.

You can find the main error codes for your Hansa washing machine on the Internet or in the instructions.

Errors:

  • E01 ( P 01) – there is no signal to block the hatch. The error may occur because the hatch is not closed tightly, or there are problems with the wire that leads from the electrical module to the hatch. If the limit switch is broken, this can also lead to this type of error.
  • E02 – signals the 2 minute limit for filling the tank with water has been exceeded. This can happen due to weak water pressure, or due to dirt clogging the inlet hose.
  • E03 - reports that the drain continues longer than the specified time (one and a half minutes). This problem can occur due to a clog in the pump filter, causing it to break down. Prolonged drainage can also occur due to the presence of a foreign object in the hose. Sometimes it may be necessary to replace the drain pump, and sometimes it is enough to replace the hose and the problem will be eliminated.
  • E04 is an error associated with the failure of the pressure switch, which occurs when the machine tank is reloaded. In this situation, either the pressure switch is faulty, or the water pressure in the system suddenly changed while the equipment was operating. It would be a good idea to check the status of the fill controllers; in “open” they may be blocked.
  • E05 – similar to E02, but when the water filling time is more than 10 minutes. If water does not flow into the machine for a very long time, you need to check whether there is any water at all or whether it has been turned off. If the water is normal, then the pressure switch, electric module, fill valve may be broken, or the drain hose may just be clogged.
  • E06 - this error can occur when the draining time is more than 10 minutes, and there was no signal that the container was empty. You should check the serviceability of the pressure switch and pump, and also check the hose for blockages.
  • E07 – the car pan is filled with water. E07 can also happen if the Aqua-Stop sensor is triggered. If there is a problem with the state of the elements, for example, the tank was damaged by a third-party object, then an error message will be sent. If the problem is not damage, then the Aqua-Stop sensor needs to be replaced.
  • E08 - the inscription indicates that there are problems with the limit values of the power parameters. The norm is -158-248 V, frequency 50-60 Hz.
  • E09 – excessive foam formation after spinning laundry. An excess of foam in the SMA occurs due to the fact that a lot of powder was poured in. There should be as much powder as indicated in the instructions for detergents. Also, an excess of foam can happen if hand washing powder is poured into the machine. For washing machines, you should only take “Automatic”.
  • E11 - reports problems with a semiconductor in the electrical circuit of the washing machine hatch. Such errors are associated with electronics and their incorrect operation. In this case, the triac (semiconductor device) is faulty.
  • E21 – the error will be described below.
  • E22 – message about spontaneous operation of the drive motor. This error occurs due to a short circuit in the triac, which is located on the control board of the machine. Sometimes you may need to change the engine of your car, but this happens very rarely.
  • E31 – error related to the temperature sensor. A short circuit has been noticed in the temperature sensor or other connection.
  • E32 – the inscription indicates that the sensor is not functioning correctly. Sensor electrical circuit problems. You can’t do it without the help of a master; you can’t do it on your own.
  • E42 - the malfunction is due to the fact that after the wash is finished, the door does not open for more than 2 minutes. This may happen due to a breakdown of the hatch locking device, or it may be associated with electronics, for example, a malfunction of the triac, which is responsible for the lock.
  • E52 - reports serious problems that occurred during the operation of the machine.

The latter means that there are problems in the operation of non-volatile memory. This error indicates a failure in the electrical control module. The problem can be solved by replacing the board with a new one, or by trying to change the ROM and resoldering all the contacts on the board. Any of the errors requires immediate correction. It's better to contact a professional.

Is it worth going to the control board?

If the pressure switch and inlet valve of the Hansa washing machine are fully operational, the flow filter is cleaned, but the machine still issues E04, you will have to check the electronic unit. It is not worthwhile to independently diagnose the control module without having the necessary knowledge - this can only harm the equipment.

In order not to aggravate the situation, it is better to entrust the inspection and repair of the main unit to a specialist with extensive experience working with electronics. The technician, using special equipment, will test the firmware, reset it, and reinstall it if necessary. It may be necessary to replace some semiconductor elements on the board and solder the tracks.

In some “neglected” cases, only replacing the control unit will help eliminate the problem. Here you need to compare the cost of the module and the new machine, and decide on the feasibility of repairs. So, when you see fault code E04 on the machine’s display, it is better to immediately begin diagnosing the equipment. The range of breakdowns is not so wide, so identifying the cause of the problem will not be difficult.

Popular error E21 for Hansa washing machine

Error E21 occurs when there is no response signal from the tachogenerator and the drive motor is blocked.

The most popular error that can occur with a Hans washing machine is E21

There are several reasons for the breakdown:

  • Perhaps the tachogenerator itself has broken down;
  • The thermal switch is broken;
  • Poor contact or no contact at all between the electrical control module and the motor.

This is a fairly common mistake and to correct it, you need to invite a competent specialist.

We look at the water level sensor tube

If the situation cannot be corrected after a complete check of the drain system, it is recommended to inspect the pressure switch. The water level sensor sends signals to the “brain” of the machine about the degree of filling of the tank when filling and draining liquid.

You can check the level sensor like this:

  • turn off the power to the washing machine, disconnect it from communications;
  • remove the top cover of the unit by unscrewing the bolts securing it;
  • find the pressure switch - this is a small round box attached to the edge;
  • disconnect the wires leading to the sensor, remove the element from the housing;
  • Check the box and tube for defects or blockages.

To diagnose the sensor, you need to prepare a tube with a diameter similar to the pressure switch fitting. It connects to the pressure hose. Next you should blow into the tube. Two or three characteristic clicks will indicate that the contacts are actuated, which means the water level sensor is working. If the pressure switch does not make a sound, you will have to replace the part; repair will not help in this case.

If, after checking the pressure switch and cleaning the elements of the drain system, the washing machine still displays error E06, this is probably due to damage to the control board. It is better to invite a specialist to diagnose and repair the main control module.

Common error codes for Hansa Comfort 1000

Both during standard operation of the machine and during testing, errors may occur that are displayed on the display. The control system stores the last 8 error codes.

As a rule, washing machine error codes should be displayed on the screen

If you need to look at all the codes, you should perform the following steps:

  1. Enter the service mode of the machine (as preparation for an operation when starting a full test).
  2. Sequentially set the handle to position 4-11. Position 4 shows the latest, 5 corresponds to the previous reading, etc.
  3. Press buttons 22 and 24 at the same time.
  4. Calculate the error code on the indicators of the Hansa 1000 machine.

For both lines of washing machines, the error code is indicated with blinking indicator 18. In the Comfort series, the error code is shown on indicator 21 in the form of the letter E and a 2-digit value of numbers (Exx), and Optimum - as combinations of indicators 22-25, which are located nearby with active buttons. To clear the indication of an error that has occurred, press and hold button 17 for 3 seconds.

Cipher meaning

The self-diagnosis system of Hansa automatic machines, when a problem is detected, automatically displays a failure code on the display. Error E06 indicates that the water was not drained from the tank into the sewerage system within the allotted time. Pumping out the waste liquid occurs too slowly or does not start at all. The machine, having failed to drain the water the first time, will start a second drain cycle. If during this time the liquid is not removed from the system, the machine will issue code E06. Draining may be difficult due to:

  • pump failure or severe clogging;
  • clogged drain filter;
  • breakage of the pump supply wiring;
  • breakdown of the pressure switch;
  • clogging of the drain hose or its incorrect connection;
  • problems with the main control unit.

You need to try to fix the problem from the simplest: first, check the garbage filter, inspect the drain hose, and then you can move on to diagnosing the drain pump and level sensor. It is better not to start repairing the control board without having experience working with electronics. Incorrect actions can completely damage the control module.

What are the error codes for Hansa Comfort 800

The electrical control system of the washing machine has a built-in automatic test function. It makes it possible to recognize errors that arose during the operation of the machine.

The error code can be determined by counting the number of times the READY indicator blinks. A series of flashes occur every 15 seconds.

A full service test makes it possible to check the performance of a larger number of modes and functions of washing equipment. To carry out the test, the machine must be connected to the water supply and sewerage system.

The error code of the Hansa Comfort 800 machine can be determined using the indicator

Important to remember:

  • The error code gives a description of the found defect, without specifying the faulty element;
  • After turning off the machine, the indication is reset;
  • All the errors described above may appear due to a breakdown of the electrical controller, as well as the wire connections of the SMA 800 plus.

How to reset?

Usually, simply turning off and turning on the machine is enough to reset the problem. But if this method does not work, and it often does not work with errors E01 and E02, you need to remove the washing machine plug from the socket for 30-40 seconds, after which the door will automatically unlock.

Typically, many of these problems are found in older appliances. Worn parts are more susceptible to breakdowns and malfunctions. However, new models are not immune to any of these problems.

The main thing is to understand what malfunction the machine is signaling and change the corresponding parts in a timely manner.

For information on how to repair the electronic module of a Hansa washing machine, see below.

Inlet valve

If the above does not work, return to the intake valve itself. To do this, remove the top cover of the washer and look inside. You can easily understand that this is the one in front of you by the hoses attached to it leading to the detergent compartment. To begin with, a visual inspection is enough; perhaps by its appearance you will immediately understand that the valve is broken. If everything is in order, let's proceed to a more detailed analysis:

  • take pliers and loosen the metal clamps at the base of the valve hoses;
  • after removing the clamps, disconnect the wiring;
  • take a screwdriver and remove the screws that secure the valve to the MCA.

In addition to the filter mesh, clogs can also form in the valve hoses, so carefully inspect them for blockages. Also, the valve may not be sealed. This is easy to check. Attach the intake hose over a sink or empty container and open the water. If a leak is detected, it means replacement is required. A working device does not leak water.

There is another verification option that requires extreme caution. If there is a risk that you won’t be able to handle it, it’s better not to try it, otherwise you will have troubles worse than error E05. Apply 220 volts to the device coils. This will ensure that the section opens and fills the container you have chosen with water . The problem is that water and electricity coming into contact can cause short circuits and fires, which is made even worse by your proximity to dangerous objects. In general, the method is effective, but it is quite difficult to implement it yourself without outside help.

It’s better not to suffer and use the good old multimeter. Apply the tester antennae one at a time to the valve windings in resistance measurement mode. Only numbers 3 or 4 on the display indicate the serviceability of the part. In other cases, repairs are required.

Important! If any part requires replacement, take it with you to the store or write down the model name exactly to the letter. Place the new thing in its place and assemble the unit.

As you remember, first you need to install the valve, attach wiring and hoses to it, and bolt it to the SM body. By the way, it would be a good idea to photograph all the steps before starting dismantling, so as not to mess anything up later.

Now all that remains is to put the top panel back in place and connect the water intake hose. Now you can test the machine and start the washing process.

Features and cost of calling a professional technician

The cost of repairs at a service center starts from 1500-2000 rubles. in case of malfunctions of the UBL and tachometer and 3000-4000 rubles. in case of failure of the electronic module and bearings. The price of new parts is included in the estimate separately.

To avoid becoming a victim of scammers and unscrupulous craftsmen, you must:

  • study reviews about a company or specialist on city forums;
  • check the actual legal address of the service and the date of registration of the legal entity;
  • clarify the conditions for diagnostics and repair in advance;
  • observe the work of the master (for example, it is impossible to draw a conclusion about the breakdown of the electronic unit without disassembling and checking with a tester).

Checking the pallet

You can cope with the diagnosis yourself, the main thing is to carefully prepare for work. First, we provide free access to the washing machine. Most often, Hansa appliances are built-in and installed under a countertop, sink, cabinet or kitchen unit. Therefore, we disconnect the machine from communications, move it out of the box into the middle of the room and cover the space around the unit with old rags. If there is a leak, then water will pour out of the bottom, and you need to be prepared.

It is not difficult to get to the pan and check it for dryness. You just need to unscrew the side walls or remove the lower front panel of the machine, and then look under the bottom of the machine. When water is noticed inside, you will have to completely disassemble the machine and look for the breakdown that led to the leak. If there are no traces of leaks, then the float has shifted and the closed contact gives a false signal. You can return the sensor to its place as follows:

  • take a screwdriver with a long tip;
  • insert it into the gap between the machine body and the pallet;
  • lower the float into place;
  • return the previously removed front panel or screw the side walls.

But such repairs will not solve the problem forever. The next intensive spin will easily dislodge the float from its seat, and the system will again display error E07. Some people recommend getting rid of the problem by breaking off the sensor, but such a maneuver will make Aquastop useless in the event of a real leak. You can't take that risk!

The machine does not start after repair

Some immediately panic when they realize that after all the attempts to correct the situation, the ill-fated code still appears on the display. But don’t worry, the presence of an error does not mean that you did something wrong. It just needs to be reset.

Turn the selector knob to any mode and hold down the start button. As soon as a square with zeros appears, release the key and wait until the display provides information on the selected program. Then turn the selector to off mode, wait until everything goes out. The unit can now be switched on again.
