Selection of programs for SMA "Indesit"
The Indesit washing machine has a wide range of convenient modes. The selection of what you need is carried out using the selector switch handle, along the circumference of which there are corresponding inscriptions or icons.
Article on the topic: How much does the control unit of an lg washing machine cost?
Before setting up, it is recommended to sort your clothes by fabric type, degree of soiling and color. Based on the results of assessing the condition of the laundry, a decision is made on choosing a ready-made program or setting up an individual one.
In the first case, it remains possible to additionally add the following special functions:
- delayed start, it is indicated by a clock icon;
- soak;
- rinsing, indicated by a drop and a basin;
- spin, a twisted spiral is depicted;
- easy ironing, if such a function is available in this model, is indicated by the iron sign.
Are you using citric acid?
Of the ready-made programs in everyday use, the following options are most often used:
- For heavily soiled white laundry, use the selector to select mark number 1. Next, use the temperature toggle switch to set the value to 60-90° or MAX.
- Mixed things. The most popular option due to its versatility is located at number 3. It is performed at 40° and provides care for non-fading colored or white products.
- Colored fabrics. The corresponding mark is at number 4. The mode is characterized by excellent results and a short cycle time at a temperature of only 40°.
- For synthetics use position 9.
- Wool products. For them, the switch should be stopped at 14. But only if there is no prohibiting sign on the label.
Program switch to "Indesit"
The user has the opportunity to change at will:
- temperature,
- washing duration,
- rotational speed.
The Indesit brand SMA provides for independent program selection. It can consist of several modes, the main of which are:
- Cotton fabrics. Designation – T-shirt sign. The temperature range ranges from 40 to 90°, while the load and process duration will differ. For 90-95o the processing time is 3 hours, the drum can be fully loaded. At 60°, soaking is excluded from the cycle and the time is reduced to 2.5 hours. This option is good for heavily soiled white items. Heating to 40° is recommended for colored fabrics, duration is 2.5 hours.
- Synthetics. Designation – the sign of a chemical flask. At 60° the working process takes 1 hour 25 minutes, and at 40° – 1 hour 11 minutes. This is a more gentle wash with a load of 2.5 to 3.5 kg.
- Silk items. The index is an image of a T-shirt. Suitable for lightweight viscose items and underwear. The process continues for 55 minutes at 30°.
- Wool. The corresponding symbol is a skein of thread. The drum rotation speed during spinning is reduced, the cycle lasts 55 minutes at 40°.

Additional buttons indesit
Some machine models offer separate washing modes without reference to types of fabrics:
- Daily. Standard option for quickly processing lightly soiled laundry.
- Preliminary. Used for soaking. Rotation occurs slowly at 30°.
- Intense. Suitable for cotton and linen items. Water heating is possible up to 95o.
- Delicate. Similar to program number 14. Used for items made of organza, lycra, wool and other materials that require careful handling.
Additional programs that can be set for certain items, taking into account the degree of contamination and type of material:
- Express mode allows you to process things in 15 minutes when heated to 30°. The permissible load is no more than one and a half kilograms.
- Shoes. The program was created for sports shoes and is indicated by a symbol with an image of a sneaker. A maximum of two pairs are allowed per cycle, which lasts 50 minutes.
- Jeans. The program has a corresponding icon and is specially designed for denim products. Operation occurs at 40° and reduced rotation speed. Permissible load: 2.5 kg.
- Sportswear. The operating cycle time is 1 hour 20 minutes, and water heating reaches 30°.

1 Indesit Washing machine and dryer WDN 867 WDN 2296 Instructions for use and maintenance
2 Installation Instructions Preliminary Operations 1. Remove the packaging. Make sure that your car is not damaged and is fully equipped. If you are in any doubt, contact the Supplier immediately. 2. Packaging elements (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, metal clips) can be potentially dangerous for children. Therefore, throw away the packaging immediately or put it out of reach. 3. Do not forget that the drum, washing container and main motor are suspended on springs to reduce vibration and are secured on the rear side with three bolts and washers for transportation (Fig. 1). Before starting, unscrew them and plug the resulting holes with plastic plugs (they are in the same bag along with the Instructions). Make sure the machine is well leveled (top surface tilted no more than 2 degrees). Leveling is done by unscrewing the legs (Fig. 2). It is necessary that the legs are equally loaded, then the machine does not rock. If the floor is carpeted, make sure there is enough clearance between the machine base and the floor for ventilation. 4. Before connecting, be sure to check the compliance of the electrical and pressure data of your machine with the parameters of the electrical and water supply network at your home. You will find vehicle information on the back of the vehicle. Connecting the drain hose Hang the bent end of the drain hose on the edge of the sink, bathtub, or place it in a special outlet of the drainage system (sewer) (Fig. 4 and 5). The top point of the drain hose should be at a height of cm from the floor (Fig. 5). If the height of the end of the drain hose is below 80 cm, it is necessary to secure the hose in a special clamp at the back of the machine (Fig. 6). The machine can be supplied with two types of drain hoses. — Drain hose with a curved end. — Straight hose and bending part (H), which lies inside the drum. Insert the hose into the bending part as shown in fig. 3.4
3 Connecting to the water supply RUS The machine is connected to the water supply using a hose that has two connections with 3/4 inch threads. Moreover, the hose is connected to the machine with a curved end, and the connection is sealed with a gasket combined with a strainer, and the straight end is connected to the water supply network through the gasket. The gaskets are in a bag with instructions, which, together with the hose, lies in the drum. Attention! If the machine is connected to a new water supply or has not been used for a long time, turn off the water and, unscrewing the hose from the side of the machine, drain the dirty water and restore the connection. This will protect the car from damage and laundry from contamination with rust. Electrical Connections - Make sure that the electrical outlet into which your machine will be plugged has a grounding device (spikes) and is properly grounded. — The socket and plug must be of the same type. — If the socket is not suitable, it must be replaced by a qualified person, who must check that the wire size is suitable for the current drawn by the connected equipment. — The use of adapters, double or more sockets and extension cords is not recommended. — If you consider their use necessary, use only one extension cord that meets safety requirements. Do not exceed the combined wattage rating indicated on the extension cord and wall outlet. The power of your machine is indicated in the table on the rear of the machine. — Electrical safety is guaranteed only if there is effective grounding in accordance with electrical safety regulations. — This requirement must be complied with. If in doubt, contact a specialist who will check your grounding system. — The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by lack of grounding or its malfunction. — Do not leave equipment turned on unless necessary. Don't forget to turn off the water. — Do not pinch or strain the network cable. — If the cable is damaged, replace it with another suitable cable with a ground wire. The ground wire is usually yellow-green. 5
4 Description of the machine (Fig. 7) 1 Program selection knob 2 Temperature selection knob 3 Drying program selection knob 4 On/off button 5 Half load selection button 6 Spin speed selection button 7 Pre-wash detergent compartment 8 Main wash detergent compartment 9 Conditioner compartment 10 Drying signal 11 Power signal Door lock The door has an additional lock that prevents access to the drum when the program is running. To open the door, you must wait a few minutes after turning off the machine. Pull the door handle towards you and it will open (Fig. 8). 1. Program selection knob This selects the washing program suitable for the fabric according to the recommendations given in the Program Table (see below). To select a program, rotate the handle clockwise to align the mark on the handle with the mark of the program you have selected. After switching on, the machine runs automatically until the program ends. Make sure the machine is turned off when you turn the Handle. 2. Temperature selection knob The program selection table shows the temperature of each washing cycle. You can change the heat limit by turning this knob. For example, you wash dirty jeans. Naturally, you select program “1”, but the main wash program has a heating cycle of up to 90 C, and the jeans label recommends a washing temperature of 60 C. In this case, by rotating the handle you must reduce the washing temperature to 60 C. The choice of washing temperature should be faithful. A lower temperature reduces washing efficiency. Increased levels can cause fading and damage (deformation, loss of elasticity) of synthetic trim elements, rubber bands, etc. Look at what is written on the label and do not exceed the specified temperature. If the origin of an item is in doubt, then the temperature on the label may be incorrect. In this case, it is better to choose a lower temperature. A temperature of 40 C is suitable for almost any material. By the way, your machine can wash without heating at all (the position of the regulator is marked d). 6
5 3. Drying program selection knob Turning the knob sets the drying time and mode. The machine automatically switches to the drying program when the washing program is finished. Drying can occur in two modes: - from 0 to 120 minutes. for ordinary fabrics, from 0 to 80 minutes. for delicate fabrics. There is a cooling period at the end of the drying cycle. 4. On/Off button Pressing the button turns on the machine. This should be done after the machine has been fully programmed. With the same button you can stop the car at any time. The indicator lamp “10” lights up when the power is turned on. 5. Half Load Select Button To save water and time, especially when washing smaller loads (2kg or less), press this button. This will lower the water level when working on programs “1” to “6”. The recessed state of the button corresponds to Economy mode. 6. Spin speed selection button If the button is not recessed, the spin speed for programs “1” to “6” is approximately 1200 rpm. Pressing the button reduces the spin speed to 600 rpm (the button is recessed) Detergent dispenser (Fig. 9) Located on the left side of the control panel. To open it, you need to pull the bottom of the distributor. The distributor has three compartments and is filled in accordance with the Program Table. See also “Refilling detergents” and “Refilling air conditioner”. Attention! Do not open the distributor without turning off the machine. 10. Drying signal This lamp lights up when the drying cycle is in progress. 7
6 About machine washing Preparing laundry for washing Sort your laundry by material and degree of soiling. Don't forget: - fasten the zippers; - take everything out of your pockets; - sew up all tears; - check if the buttons are holding well. — the amount of laundry loaded must correspond to the capabilities of the machine. If the amount of laundry exceeds the specified standards, wash in parts. Fabric type Durable fabrics Delicate fabrics Woolen fabrics Mixed fabrics Maximum load 5 kg 2 kg 1 kg 2.5 kg If the machine is loaded entirely with highly absorbent materials, such as terry towels, the load should be reduced to 4 kg. Amount and type of detergent The table below shows the amount of detergent for each wash cycle for a full load. The dosage may vary depending on: - water hardness; If the water in your area is characterized by particularly intense scale formation, the use of special preparations is recommended. — degree of pollution; You can increase the amount of product if the laundry is heavily soiled. - amount of linen; The smaller the load, the less detergent required. Over time, you will gain your own experience and choose the right dosage. Please note that too much detergent may reduce the effectiveness of the rinse. The manufacturer recommends the use of low-foaming washing powders designed specifically for washing machines. Conventional washing powders reduce washing efficiency due to the fact that abundant foam prevents the free movement of laundry in the drum. 8
7 Refilling detergent (Fig. 9) Carefully pull out the dispenser to the end. To achieve excellent results, the Manufacturer recommends the following quantities of detergent. (Please note that one cup of laundry detergent weighs approximately 100 grams.) Compartment 7 Compartment 8 Compartment 9 Pre-wash Main wash (Hard water) Main wash (Soft water) See product packaging instructions 1 cup 2 cups 1 cup In soft water areas With a small load or a small degree of contamination, the indicated quantities should be reduced to avoid increased foaming. If the water is hard, the amount should be increased. The Program Table indicates which dispenser compartment must be filled for each program. Store detergents in a dry place. Refilling the conditioner To achieve ideal washing results, the Manufacturer recommends using special conditioners (bleach, aromatic, antistatic, starch and softening additives). They are automatically mixed with water during the final rinse. Do not overfill this dispenser compartment. Excess air conditioner will simply disappear, because... will be used at the wrong stage of the wash. Starting the washing machine Make sure that: - the water tap is fully open; — the drain hose is correctly placed and not pinched; — the laundry is placed in the drum and the door is tightly closed; — the distributor is filled with detergent and conditioning additives. Washing Maximum load 5 kg. 1. Load the machine and close the door. 2. Check the Program Table and select the required one. Rotate the knob clockwise to position it on the desired symbol. 3. Make sure the drying selector is in the off position (Þ sign) 9
8 4. Add powder and additives in accordance with the selected program. Close the distributor. 5. Press the half load and spin speed buttons if necessary. 6. Press the power button; After a short period of time, the control lamp will light up. 7. The machine will stop automatically when the program is completed (program handle in the stop position - Þ). 8. Turn off the machine by pressing the power button and unload the machine. The door will open approximately 2 minutes after switching off (the delay is made so that the laundry has time to cool down after drying). NB The washing program lasts quite a long time (up to several hours). If you think the car has stopped, the water is most likely heating up. Washing and drying Maximum load 2.5 kg. To wash and dry more than the specified maximum amount of laundry, wash the laundry as described in the “Washing” section, unload the machine, and dry the laundry in two parts according to the “Drying” section. 1. Load the machine and close the door. 2. Check the program table and select the one you need. Rotate the knob clockwise to position it on the desired symbol. 3. Set the drying selector according to the “Information about drying modes”. 4. Add powder and additives in accordance with the selected program. Close the distributor. 5. Press the half load and spin speed buttons if necessary. 6. Press the power button; After a short period of time, the control lamp will light up. 7. The machine will stop automatically when the program is completed (program handle in stop position -Þ). 8. Turn off the machine by pressing the power button and unload the machine. The door will open approximately 2 minutes after switching off (the delay is made so that the laundry has time to cool down after drying). Remember: this machine is designed to dry clothes that have previously been washed only with water. You should not dry items previously treated with trichlorethylene, products with porous rubber trim, etc. Attention: before drying, check that: - the correct drying program has been selected for the fabric; — the maximum load of 2.5 kg is not exceeded. NB When combining washing and drying programs, the washing program ends when the program knob reaches the drying symbol “Y” and the drying program starts automatically. 10
9 Drying RUS Maximum load 2.5 kg. 1. Load the machine and close the door. 2. Rotate the program selection knob clockwise until it reaches the “Y” symbol. 3. Set the drying selector according to the “Information about drying modes”. 4. Don't forget to run the water. It is necessary for the operation of the condenser. 5. Press the power button; After a short period of time, the control lamp will light up. 6. The machine will stop automatically when the program is completed (drying timer knob in stop position - Þ). 7. Turn off the machine by pressing the power button and unload the machine. The door will open approximately 2 minutes after switching off (the delay is made so that the laundry has time to cool down after drying). Remember: this machine is designed for drying clothes that were previously washed only with water. You should not dry items previously treated with trichlorethylene, products with porous rubber trim, etc. Information about drying modes Your machine has two different drying temperatures to ensure greater efficiency in drying durable materials (cotton, linen), and not harm synthetics and other delicate fabrics. It is very important to choose the right drying mode (the right sector of the regulator is for durable fabrics, the left sector is for delicate ones). Drying time depends on the quantity and type of fabric. Refer to the table below to determine the drying mode. If the load is less than specified, the drying time should be reduced proportionally. The manufacturer recommends, until you gain your own experience, to set the drying time slightly less than that suggested in the Table. eleven
10 Fabric Loadable items Max. loading Regulator sector Drying time in (min.) to: (kg) drying wet dry Cotton Various products 2.5 Right Cotton Terry towels, etc. 2 Right Cotton Sheets and/or shirts 1.5 Left - 70 Acrylic Pajamas, socks, etc. 1 Left - 60 Nylon Petticoats, stockings, etc. 1 Left - 40 When drying is finished, feel the laundry with your hand. If the laundry seems too damp, simply close the door and set the extra time. You should not set the drying time too much - overdried laundry is difficult to iron. Information about some programs Usually washing machines do not have as many programs as indicated. This machine has three programs. The first (1) is for durable fabrics. The second (8) is for delicate fabrics. The third (14) is for wool. The rest of the programs are just parts of the main ones. Moreover, the larger the program number, the later in the main program the machine begins to work. Rinse (programs 5,11,15) Rinse cycles 5,11,15 (see Program Table) can be used to rinse already washed laundry. In this case, load the laundry, set the selected program and turn on the machine. The machine will finish the wash cycle. No powder needed. Special treatment (programs 6,12,16) At the end of each washing program, the laundry can be treated to soften or starch or give a pleasant smell if the appropriate preparation is poured into the third compartment of the dispenser. During the final rinse, the additives will be automatically transferred to the drum. You can also use this operation to process laundry that has already been washed. Simply run the machine on a program of 6 for normal fabrics, 12 for delicates and 16 for wool. 12
11 Delicate fabrics (programs 8,9,10) Programs 8,9,10 are designed specifically for delicate fabrics (see table), prone to wrinkles (wash at low temperatures) or fabrics that cannot be wringed (flat drying required) ). At the end of these programs the machine stops after the final rinse without draining the water. The laundry remains soaked in water to prevent wrinkles. This is especially important if you are not near the machine when the wash is finished. Before unloading, drain the water. To do this, turn the program selection knob to position 18. The machine will drain the water and you can remove the laundry. If the laundry is not afraid of wrinkles, use program 13 (short spin at 600 rpm). “Real pure wool” (program 14) Use this program to wash items marked with the appropriate symbol and machine washable at 40 C (sign - ). To obtain the best results, the temperature when washing wool should not exceed 40 C and the load of knitted items should not exceed 1 kg. This program, like the previous one, does not drain the water at the end to avoid the formation of wrinkles. You can finish the wash with a light spin (turn the handle to position 17) or, if spinning is not desired, drain the water (position 18). Don't forget: special detergents are used to wash wool. Wool should not be dried in a machine. Changing programs If you accidentally select the wrong program, follow these instructions: - If you have not yet pressed the power button, simply turn the program selection knob clockwise to the desired position and set the thermostat as you see fit. — If the machine has already started washing, turn off the machine by pressing the appropriate button and, having set the correct program, turn it on again. Attention! Do not open the door of a stopped machine if it has already started running and has filled with water. Water will definitely spill out, and you will have to work with a rag. End of programs - At the end of the program the machine stops automatically - the program handle points to one of the stop signs (Þ). — Before opening the door, turn off the machine by pressing the power button. — After using the machine, turn off the water and remove the plug from the socket or turn off the machine. 13
12 Maintenance Always remove the plug from the outlet before washing or performing any maintenance on the machine. In case of breakdown or malfunction, turn off the machine, turn off the water and better not try to fix it yourself. Call a service center authorized by the Manufacturer, and when repairing by others, require the use of Manufacturer spare parts. A faulty machine may not provide electrical safety. If you decide to sell or transport your car, do not forget to put it in transportable condition (see Installation). Keep the fixing bolts in a safe place. Do not allow children to play with parts of the packaging. Children often eat styrofoam and risk suffocation by wearing plastic bags over their heads. Detergent dispenser If you think the dispenser is dirty: — Pull the dispenser out to the end. Using extra force, remove it from the machine. Remove the siphon tube cover from the conditioner compartment. — Rinse the distributor under the tap and dry. — Replace the siphon cover. Wipe the cavity in the machine occupied by the distributor. — To put the distributor in place, first install the left rear upper corner of the distributor into the corresponding groove in the cavity. Then press the distributor and it will snap into place. — If the distributor is difficult to slide, it is most likely incorrectly oriented. Cleaning the drain pump This machine uses a self-cleaning type pump that does not require cleaning or maintenance. However, objects such as buttons and coins caught in the pump cannot be removed automatically. Such objects accumulate in a special catcher at the front of the pump. To clean the trap, rotate screw “M” using a screwdriver or coin until the pump cover is completely removed. After this, the catcher is ready for your inspection (see Fig. 10). 14

How to set the desired mode?
The selection is made using the programmer knob. There are inscriptions and icons around the selector switch. On older models there are no verbal designations - only icons, hence the problems with choice. It happens that the owners of the machines do not understand the images, then they need instructions to decipher the symbols. In the new models, the manufacturer took this omission into account - all icons are duplicated with words.
Before you set the mode, you need to sort the things that you are going to wash. Evaluate them by type of fabric, color, degree of soiling. Taking these positions into account, a decision is made: choose a ready-made program or customize your own. If preference falls on the second option, then the user selects:
- temperature;
- duration of the process;
- rotational speed.
Whether a ready-made program is included or your own is being configured, the user can add additionally:
- soak;
- rinsing;
- light ironing;
- spin
The process can be delayed for a certain time, depending on the duration of the timer. Typically, the maximum delayed start time is 24 hours. Descriptions of the modes can be read in the instructions.
