Operating a Kaiser washing machine
How to use a Kaiser washing machine
As far as I know, the Kaiser washing machine is not yet produced in the CIS countries, and it seems to me - thank God. Apparently, the guys who organized this company decided not to make Russian hack work, but a really high-quality European product, but under license from other brands. Despite the fact that these washing machines are not as widespread as LG or Samsung, they are still in pretty good demand. The operation of the SMA Kaiser is practically no different from similar equipment from other manufacturers, especially for a washing machine like the Hansa. A convenient control panel and the presence of an LCD display allow the owner of this equipment to easily select the program he needs, and the selection of washing modes and additional functions is quite good. I specifically made this short review because I think that this brand is undeservedly ignored by many. If you use your Kaiser washing machine correctly, it will last at least 6-7 years. Below I will give some tips for operation, I think these tips will help you extend the life of this machine for several years more than what the manufacturer intended
- Carry out separate wiring → It’s interesting why most people make a separate socket for the boiler, but for the washing machine they throw a carrier into which they plug in an adapter from the Euro to ours and plug the plug into this adapter. The boiler consumes up to 2 kW, and the machine consumes at least 2.5 kW. Draw your own conclusions
- The spin mode should not exceed 800 rpm → Anything higher than this speed is a marketing ploy by the manufacturer, no need to buy into it. It’s unlikely to squeeze better, but the bearings and seals will fail much faster
- You cannot use citric acid → Here you must not forget that there is an aluminum cross on the drum and if you use citric or acetic acid, then in combination with electrolysis, this cross will quickly corrode. Understand that a high-quality powder already contains additives that clean the tank and tank of the SMA, there is no need to add anything else. If your water is hard or silty, then nothing will help you except install some kind of filter
- Carry out grounding → Of course, in an apartment, this is almost impossible to do, but in the private sector, this must be done. Thanks to grounding, the SM will not receive an electric shock and electrolysis will disappear
- Wash mode at high temperatures → It is advisable to use as little as possible. The fact is that the heating element consumes at least 2 kW, so the load goes not only to the wiring in the house, but also to the control unit of the washing machine. In addition, the heating element itself will fail much faster
- Cleaning the filter → Ideally, you should clean the drain pump filter at least after every tenth wash. In general, the more often the better.
- Place a rubber mat under the SM → Vibration will be reduced quite significantly, and the machine will not move around the entire room where it is standing
At the end of washing, you need to do the following manipulations, this will affect not only the service life, but also whether your laundry will have a pleasant smell or stink of swamp
- You need to unplug the washing machine from the outlet → It is important to understand that when you turn off the washing machine with the button, it is still in standby mode and if it hits 380, your brains can burn out
- After each wash, wipe the hatch glass → This will prevent scale from accumulating. If this is not done, then after 3 years there will be a rather serious layer of scale on the glass, which will act like a rasp and render the cuff of the loading hatch unusable
- Powder container and hatch door → When you have washed the laundry, that is, finished washing, you must open the container and the door by 3-4 cm. This is a simple operation, it will help you get rid of the unpleasant odor, since the machine will be ventilated
It would seem that I talked about simple things, but for some reason few people do them, probably hoping for hope. Understand that the service life of your equipment depends entirely on you; if you do not follow the rules about which I wrote above, then your equipment will fail much faster than you expected. Sometimes it happens that relatives buy two completely identical machines, the first one worked for 3 years, and the second one didn’t have a single breakdown in 10 years - the reason here is not only in marriage, but also in how the first object used the washing machine. Then it's up to you
Download the operating instructions for the Kaiser washing machine
Below this description you can read or download the operating instructions for the Kaiser washing machine. The operating instructions are intended not only so that you can learn how to operate your washing machine, that is, select the programs you need, but also so that you can fix minor faults with your own hands. The fact is that now almost all instructions contain washing machine error codes. An error code indicates a malfunction of a particular part in your SMA; thanks to these codes, you can find out which part is faulty and subsequently replace it. The entire manual is uploaded to a Yandex disk; I don’t think there’s any need to explain how to download from it. I’ll go back to the instruction manual, I just want to add that this manual says: how to connect the washing machine to electricity, connect it to the water supply and sewerage system, how to clean the drain pump filter and much more. And it is also important to understand that if your washing machine has additional functions, you should always read the notes, since these additional functions may not always be used with the selected program. In general, follow the links below and download your manual absolutely free of charge and without any SMS, everything was checked by antivirus, both mine and Yandex disk.

How to identify Kaiser machine breakdowns yourself
To help the user, the manufacturer of electronically controlled washing machines Kaiser has provided fault codes. They will warn you about a failure and help you find out the cause of the failure.
As a rule, these are the following error codes: E01, E02, E03, E04 for SM with Logic control system; T95, T40, T30 for SM with Ecotronic radio control system. Let's look at the most common of them.
Codes | The essence of the breakdown |
E03, T95, T30 | Errors indicating a clogged water drain filter or drain hose. |
E02, T95, T0, T60 | Error codes that indicate problems with water pressure or clogged hoses, water inlet filters, and solenoid valves. |
E07, T95, T60, T40 | Errors may indicate a water leak (depressurization of the tank, violation of the integrity of the pipes). |
As you can see, you can fix minor damage yourself.
And if we are talking about a bearing or oil seal on a Kaiser washing machine, repair or replacement of the control unit is required, it is better not to risk the serviceability of expensive equipment. Entrust the work to a specialist.
Frequent failures of SMA Kaiser
Based on statistical data from service providers, we came to the conclusion that Kaiser brand washing machines have a number of “weak links” that are the first to be affected by problems.
These are breakdowns of the following parts:
- Heating element is a problem for almost any model. It is equally found both in Kaiser Avantgarde and in Kaiser W4t10, W-34110 and others. Sometimes a problem with a heater occurs due to a manufacturing defect or design features of the machine, but more often external factors are to blame. This could be hard water and scale, power surges, or low-quality powders.
- Drain system. This problem is typical not only for Kaiser machines, but in the SM of this brand it occurs with enviable frequency.
- An equally frequent breakdown is leakage. Rubber hoses and pipes quickly deteriorate in the first years of service for many brands of washing machines, and SMA Kaiser leads the list of such brands.
Important! The Kaiser washing machine can also trouble owners with problems with closing the hatch, failures in the control board, a slipped drive belt or a broken motor. Such failures are rare, so they can hardly be classified as typical.
We decided to discuss self-repair of problems from our TOP 3 in this article.
We will tell you how to detect the cause of the breakdown and carry out independent repairs at home.
Kaiser machine does not heat water
The Kaiser washing machine is usually equipped with a standard heater with the following parameters:
- Length - 280 mm.
- Power - 2000 W.
You can easily find heating elements in a specialized store or on the Internet. Prices range from 600-900 rubles. Therefore, do the repairs yourself if you want to save a lot.
To replace the heating element, follow these instructions:
- Unplug your washing machine.
- Shut off access to the water supply and the exit to the sewer system.
- Turn the washer with the back panel facing you.
- Unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the back wall.
- Remove the rear protective panel.
- Below the tank you will see 2 contacts with wires coming from them. This is the heating element. More precisely, this is only the tail of the heater - the element itself is located under the tank, so it warms up the water better and faster.
- Check the heating element using a tester. The working element will show a resistance of 24-26 Ohms. If there is a breakdown, the value 0, 1 or ∞ will appear on the multimeter screen.
- Remove the wires coming from the heater and the temperature sensor (it is built into the heater itself).
- Unscrew the fastening nut, remove the heating element along with the gasket (it will still have to be changed).
Important! Sometimes, to get a heating element, you need to make a lot of effort. But don’t pull it by the contacts - it’s better to just loosen the part and slowly pull it towards you.
- Unpack the pre-prepared new tubular heater that fits your Kaiser model. Just in case, check it with a tester to make sure it is working properly.
- Install in the groove in place of the old heating element.
- Lead and connect all necessary wires.
- Screw the back panel of the washer.
- Connect the SMA to all systems.
- Run a test wash and make sure everything is done correctly.
Attention! The steps described in the diagram above are relevant for a front-loading Kaiser washing machine, such as Kaiser Avangard and the like.
