The washing machine does not heat the water - replacing the heating element

Today we will show you step by step and with photo illustrations how to replace the heating element (heating element) on the BOSCH Maxx 5 washing machine. The supposed and most likely reason is heating element. To understand whether this is true, we need to disassemble the washing machine and test the heating element. If the heating element burns out, it needs to be replaced. To do this, we use the following tools: a flat screwdriver, a key for a bit, a Torex bit, a 10 mm socket, a multimeter (electrical measuring device).

1. We begin disassembling the washing machine. The first step is to remove the powder cuvette. We open it as for filling powder.

2. To completely remove the cuvette, you need to press the latch shown in the photo and pull it towards you.

3. Unscrew the first bolt securing the facing panel for its subsequent removal. It is secured with three bolts. We will need a Torx, a screwdriver or a key for a bit.

4. The photo shows the lower facing part of the washing machine. We need to get to the remaining two panel mounting bolts. They are located under the bottom plastic panel.

5. Remove the hatch, which is designed to access and clean the drain filter, by pressing the latch. To pull it out completely, you need to carefully pull it towards you, removing it from its fastenings.

6. Using the same Torx, unscrew the bolt securing the bottom panel.

7.To remove the bottom panel, you need to move it to the right side and pull it towards you. And it will easily come out of its seats. A characteristic click may occur. This is quite normal.

8. And now we get to the remaining two bolts for fastening the facing panel. Let's unscrew them.

9. The bolts are located on the right and left sides at the bottom of the washing machine.

10. We need to remove the clamp securing the hatch cuff to the body. For this we use a regular flat-head screwdriver. Use a screwdriver to pry up the clamp, remove it and put it aside.

11. We carefully remove the outer rim of the hatch cuff from the body into the inside of the washing machine.

12.All holding parts are disconnected from the facing panel. To remove the panel, you need to lightly press it down and pull it towards you, about 15-20 cm.

13. In the inner part of the cladding there is a contact group for the hatch blocking device; it needs to be disconnected. And then you can completely remove the front panel to the side so as not to break the glass.

14. This is what a washing machine looks like without the front panel. Now we can easily reach any node unit, but we need a heating element. It is located at the bottom of the tank.

15. Using a wrench and a 10 mm socket, we unscrew the bolt securing the heating element.

16. Using a flat screwdriver, we pull the heating element out of its seat by prying it up. It may be difficult to get out, make an effort. We do this carefully, since the tank is plastic and there is a risk of damaging it.

17. After the heating element has left the seat, disconnect the power supply marks and pull it out.

18. Comparison of new and old tena. This is not the worst option yet. Sometimes heating elements have much more scale. It all depends on the hardness of your water and the quality of the powder used.

19. Put the new heating element in place and assemble it in the reverse order.

How to remove the heating element

• screwdriver (phillips and flat);
• multimeter

Then you need to remove the front panel by unscrewing 2 screws from the back. The next step is to remove the dispenser tray. To do this, you need to press the central latch. Behind the tray there are 3 bolts that should also be unscrewed. Having unscrewed the auxiliary bolt, the control panel is lifted, and all the screws are put aside so as not to be lost.

Then use a screwdriver to remove the bottom panel and open the drum. The sealing collar must be bent towards the loading hatch and the clamp removed. Then you can remove the door, the main thing is not to forget about the locking bolts. After this, access to the heating element will be open.

The heating element in a Bosch machine is located at the bottom of the drum. To correctly connect the wires when connecting a new spare part, it is better to photograph their location on the old device.

Then you can open the connectors, disconnect the wires, unscrew the bolt nut in the center, but not completely. The bolt is pushed inward to press out the gasket. Then you can remove the heater by prying it off with a flat screwdriver.

Causes of heating element failure

Replacing heating element in a Bosch Max washing machine

One of the most common models of Bosch washing machines is the MAXX line of models.

To replace the heating element on a Bosch washing machine you need to:

1. Unplug the machine from the outlet. If necessary, from water supply and sewerage;
2. Remove the top cover of the case (unscrew the 2 screws from the rear end and move it a couple of centimeters away from you);
3. Remove the powder tray from the hopper (press the button inside the tray and push it toward you), and below, unscrew the screw securing the front panel of the machine body;
4. Using a minus screwdriver, pry open the inspection hatch of the pump filter, unscrew the screw underneath it, move the false panel itself to the right and remove it from the housing. Underneath it, unscrew the screws securing the front part of the product body;
5. Open the hatch, remove the outer clamp securing the hatch seal (cuff), remove the rubber itself from the body and tuck it inside the device;
6. Pull the lower part of the panel towards you and move it up 2 cm, remove it, having first disconnected the wires from the hatch lock.

Now we see the heating element itself at the front of the tank. Before removing the heater from the tank, to be completely sure, we check the heater with a multimeter, if it really is faulty, and proceed to replace it.

In order to remove the screen in a Bosch washing machine you need:

• Remove the wires from it, first write down their correct connection (you can take a photo);
• Unscrew the fastening nut and push the pin into the tank;
• Using a minus screwdriver, pry up the housing of the heating element and remove it from the washing machine tank. If the part cannot be removed, you need to continue gradually loosening it. By doing this, we will remove some of the deposits from it that are preventing it from coming out.
• Then you should remove pieces of sediment from the tank, and after the first wash, check the pump filter for their presence in it. The filter should be checked at regular intervals.
