Water does not flow into the washing machine - what to do?

The washing machine does not fill the drum with water

Natural causes

You will need to stop the program and turn off the device until the water flows. • Weak pressure - because of this, the washer pumps water very slowly, so it feels like it’s not filling the tank at all. • The supply valve is not fully open - it must be turned to the maximum “open” position.
• The water supply hose is crushed. This is especially true if the machine is built into a cabinet or rack. If the pressure and tap are in perfect order, you should look for the reason in the equipment itself.

Note: A machine with a “spare” tank will wash even when the water is turned off or its pressure is weak.

Water is not drawn due to a breakdown

1. The door is not closed tightly. If the hatch of a unit (for example, Zanussi ZWSE680V) does not close properly, the problem is in the lock. Then blow into it: if you hear clicks, it means the contact springs are working. Remember: before checking, the washing machine must be turned off, otherwise the heating element will overheat.
5. The programmer, the “heart” of the washing machine, is broken. This is decided in the workshop. Water supply is closed or not fully open

Overload and lack of balance

The filter or drain valve does not work

Damage to the tachometer

This is a device responsible for controlling the number of revolutions depending on the selected program and the weight of the loaded laundry. The tachometer fails due to frequent overloads, loose fastenings, faulty contacts and wiring. A loose fastening can be “tightened”; it is better to entrust the solution to the wiring problem to a specialist, but if the problem is directly in the tachometer, then it will have to be changed.

Control module malfunction

The control panel, which is programmed to perform functions that have separate settings for a specific operating mode, stops sending commands to the drum. This is not the case when you should try to “reanimate” the equipment yourself.

Engine malfunction

A common problem during long-term use. The malfunction occurs both in the engine hardware and in the “brushes”, which wear out over time. The “brushes” must be replaced, but to do this you will have to disassemble the body of the washer (for example, on the Bosch WAW32640EU, the manufacturer produces components for several years after the equipment is discontinued). Filter or inlet valve malfunction

Why doesn't the heating element heat the water?

If the water in the washing equipment does not heat up, the problem is hidden in a broken heating element or a problem in the wiring. You will need to solder the damaged sections of the wire, but it is better to replace them with new ones.

Common Causes

• Heating element malfunction. To check the condition of the washing machine element, which heats the water for washing, you need to “ring” the tester. If the heating element is broken, it needs to be changed. It's not difficult to do it yourself. • Relay or programmer malfunction. It is better to entrust the repair and replacement of these components to a specialist.
• Broken heating sensor. This element tells the “control” module when to start the heating element. If the sensor is broken, it will have to be replaced.
• The sensor that detects the water level is broken. A blockage in the tube (it is not difficult to clean) or wear and tear leads to breakdown - then you need to replace it.

Problems due to long-term use

One of the most common problems that result in a washing machine not taking in water is a problem in the conductivity of the filter connecting the unit to the incoming water. You can clean the device without the help of a specialist. It is enough to close the tap through which water is supplied and then disconnect the hose. At the entrance to the unit there will be a filter designed to protect the device from various insoluble salts, of which there are many in running water. The intake valve screen is checked for blockages and then washed. Sometimes the problem may be in the hose itself or even the water supply pipe. This is determined by feeding liquid into the bath through a disconnected hose (in rare cases, into any container directly from the pipe).

Defects in the intake valve also include burnout of the coil winding. You can also check this yourself. It is enough to supply voltage through a power cord with contacts in insulation covers (with a switch). If the coil does not respond, that is, the valve does not open (and does not close immediately when the power is turned off), there may be a break in one of the sections. In this case, the coil can be replaced completely or only a specific section. In this regard, no special problems arise, since such parts have a certain standard. The reason itself often arises precisely as a result of the fact that the cuff in the valve loses flexibility. In the latter case, it is better to work on the valve itself, completely replacing it.

When the water sensor is damaged, there is also no point in throwing away the washing machine. Her “treatment” is much simpler than it might seem. But first you need to know why such a failure occurs. In the sensor system, which determines how full the washing machine is with water for washing, there is a special diaphragm, the pressure on which determines whether the machine will work properly and whether the washing mode will turn on at all. Incorrect response of the sensor may be caused by increased air pressure supplied with running water. If there is a suspicion that not enough water is supplied to the washing machine, you need to turn off the device to avoid burning out the heating element. The sensor body is usually decorated with an inscription indicating the pressure to which it is set. The machine does not drain the water after washing

1. Program crashes - often caused by a power outage - can be resolved by restarting. 4. The pump is not working properly. If you can’t hear it working or, on the contrary, it’s too loud, it means it’s broken. Perhaps it's clogged. To determine the exact cause, you need to take out the pump and see if hair or threads are wrapped around the shaft. If yes, remove them and install the pump again. If the part is clean, but the tester shows that there is no voltage being supplied to it, the element will have to be replaced.

Methods for identifying breakdowns

If your Ariston washing machine suddenly malfunctions, then you can identify the reasons like this:

1. First, check the presence of water in the main water supply.
2. Next, look at the water supply valve (if present), it may be closed.
3. Check the filters and door.
4. Look at the heating element, it may have burned out.

The washing machine is leaking

• The pipe for filling into the tank is damaged - the fixation is weakened in the place where the parts are connected. To restore the fasteners, epoxy resin is needed. To do this, you will need to dismantle the pipe, dry it, remove the adhesive residue, and then apply “epoxy” or moisture-resistant glue to fix the part during installation in the same place.

• The problem is in the drain pipe - it is recommended to replace the element by first removing the top cover of the washing machine body (for example, Bosch WLG24160BY).
• The drain pump is worn out - this can also be solved by replacing it.
• The seal of the hatch has broken down - the cuff has become “aged”. The damage is repaired with a rubber patch, which is glued with waterproof glue. For strength, it is recommended to remove the fixing clamps and change the position of the repaired part so that the patch is on top.
• The dispenser is faulty: the “hopper” (the recess for filling with washing powder) is clogged or the water supply power has increased, the water inlet valve has broken. If the problem is in the “hopper” or the dispenser compartment, it is worth cleaning the spare parts; if it is in the valve, it will need to be replaced.

The hatch is not closed tightly or the lock is faulty

Try opening and closing the hatch by pressing it harder. There is a possibility that the whole point is that it was not closed. While the washing machine is open, washing cannot begin.

Locking malfunctions or problems with fixation are also possible. If the washing machine door does not lock in the closed position, the guide, which is located under the locking tab, may break. This can happen when using the machine for a long time. Due to repeated opening and closing of the door, the hinges may become damaged. In this case, the hatch becomes skewed.

Another damage is also likely - the tongue (latch), which looks like a hook, may change its position.

That is, to skew. In a skewed position, it does not fit into the required hole and does not fix the closed position of the hatch. This malfunction occurs when a metal rod falls out.

This rod is located on the inside of the washing machine hatch. It should hold the tongue in the required position. Accordingly, if it falls out, the tongue will no longer be in the desired position. In order to eliminate these malfunctions, it is necessary to disassemble the hatch and return the rod to the correct position.

Failure in the control module

In electronic washing machines, the control module may malfunction. The appliance does not start the washing program and water does not flow into the drum. This problem is encountered after several years of using automatic washing machines, especially if the operating rules described in the manual are not followed.

You can solve the problem by manually flashing the module. Set all programs to zero and turn on the machine. If it blinks, the program has been reset and you can continue to use the device.

This action may not be enough if, for example, some cable or wire in the electronic module has burned out. Then it should be completely replaced, but without a specialist you will not be able to fix the breakdown.

If all of the above steps are completed and nothing helps, then most likely the washing machine has more serious damage. The drum may be faulty, the pressure switch may be broken, the pump or measuring instruments may be faulty. The machine, of course, will not draw water.
