Laundry washing machines are manufactured so that the user can easily set operating modes and cope with the process. But sometimes it’s quite difficult to understand new technology. A number of symbols on the washing machine are clear, but there are icons whose meaning is difficult to determine the first time.
Moreover, each brand has its own differences. Adding convenience is the inscription next to the designation that deciphers it, but this is quite rare. In such cases, you can clarify the necessary information only on the Internet or in the instructions supplied with the product. Today we will figure out how the washing modes and times in a Siemens washing machine are indicated.
Main program icons
To select the desired mode, the Siemens washing machine has a regulator that turns in both directions. Using this rotary mechanism, you can set programs for a wide variety of laundry types. They are indicated by the following symbols:
- The image of a T-shirt and trousers represents the washing of durable linen and cotton textiles . Possible temperature conditions for the “Cotton” program are 40 °C, 60 °C, 90 °C. To select the desired water heating, just turn the toggle switch to the corresponding indicator.
- The basin pictogram with a vertical line inside is intended for pre-soaking heavily soiled clothing at a temperature of 60 °C.
- The three stripes pattern of the T-shirt suggests intensive processing of cotton products .
- The hanger and shirt icon indicates washing a mixed batch of clothing (synthetics and cotton) at 40°C. It is not possible to select a different temperature mode.
- The signs of a ball of wool and a basin with a hand indicate particularly careful washing of clothes made of wool or products that contain it.
- To care for clothes made of synthetic or mixed fibers, the “Synthetic” mode is provided. On the control panel it is indicated by a design in the form of a shoulder. It is possible to choose the water temperature - 30 °C or 40 °C.
- To wash dark cotton or synthetic items , the regulator must be installed opposite the image of a black T-shirt.
- The dial picture with the inscription “Super 30'/15'” allows you to run a short cycle for lightly soiled laundry . Its duration is about 30 minutes, and with the speedPerfect option activated (we'll talk about it below) - 15 minutes.
- The crescent moon icon with the word “Night” is designed to run a very quiet cycle at night without a final spin. Used for cotton, synthetic and mixed fabrics. To wring things out after the SMA has completed its work, you need to activate the option yourself.
- The picture of a rolled stocking with the inscription “Delicates/silk 30 °C” means a cycle for the care of silk and satin products .
- The spiral and basin symbol with a downward arrow indicates the activation of the extra spin function with regulated drum rotation speed and drainage of rinse water.
- The icon of a bowl of water suggests additional rinsing of clothes with a final spin.
Symbols on the display
The display of any SMA is a display of the washing process with all selected main and additional parameters.
In a Siemens automatic machine, it displays settings and data such as:
- spin speed;
- remaining time until the end of the cycle;
- maximum permissible load (depending on the selected program);
- cycle execution status indication;
- blocking the SMA.
If the first three items of the list are displayed on the display as numbers, then program progress messages and door locking are displayed as icons. Their decoding is as follows:
- The “key” symbol indicates the device is locked . To activate or deactivate it, you need to press the “Start/Pause” button (it is shown as a diamond with a vertical line inside) and hold it for 5 seconds.
- the laundry is currently being washed .
- If the icon in the form of a bowl of water lights up, it means the rinsing .
- The image of a “twisted spiral” indicates spin .
- The appearance on the display of a picture of the loading hatch of the washing machine in combination with the word YES indicates that it is possible to open the drum door and add forgotten items .
If NO flashes instead of YES, it means that additional loading of laundry is impossible at this stage of the SMA operation.
