In 2022, the Russian plant in Kirov started production of smart washing machines of the CANDY Rapid'O family:

• RO4 1276DWMC4-07 with a load of 7 kg, cabinet depth 40 cm,
• RO441286DWMC4-07 with a load of 8 kg and a cabinet depth of 44 cm.

Our main expectations are related to testing the smart functions of the CANDY Rapid'O RO441286DWMC4-07 washing machine, since before this we did not have to photograph laundry in front of the machine, scan tags on clothes and create a virtual wardrobe.

Please read this manual carefully, which contains practical tips for optimal use of your sewing machine.

These Installation and Operating Instructions contain the information you need to use your machine on a daily basis.

Eni will help you install and care for your machine. Instructions are also necessary in case of an accident or doubt when selecting laundry for washing, taking into account the signs on the Potion labels and the treatment of special stains.

Review of the narrow washing machine Candy Smart Pro CO4 117T1/2-07

Washing machines have many different options, and Candy is expanding their range by introducing devices that can be controlled from a smartphone. The Candy Smart Pro CO4 117T1/2-07, which arrived to us for testing, was no exception.

The range of its programs and their combinations increases significantly if you connect the machine to a wireless network. We'll check to see if it's easy to do, but we'll also take a look at how this model handles regular washing on a preset program.

Characteristics

* To put it very simply: this is the period during which parts for repairing the device are supplied to official service centers. After this period, any repairs in official service centers (both warranty and paid) are unlikely to be possible.

Equipment

The car arrived to us in technological packaging made of polystyrene foam and polyethylene, reinforced with wooden inserts.

Inside the package, in addition to the machine itself, we found

• hose for connecting to the water supply;
• hose for connecting to the sewer (installed on the machine);
• bracket for attaching the drain hose:
• a set of plugs for transportation holes;
• user guide;
• guide for connecting the Smart Fi+ wireless control function;
• warranty card.

At first sight

This washing machine has a classic design: a white body, a transparent hatch with a metallized plastic edging, a detergent tray in the upper left part of the front panel, a display in the top middle and a round program selector knob on the right.

The side walls of the machine are smooth, with rectangular stamping for rigidity. The top panel looks like plastic, but is made of laminated chipboard.

At the top of the metal rear panel there is a socket for connecting the inlet hose with a removable plastic filter that protects the machine from contaminants and rust from tap water.

Candy Smart Pro CO4 117T1/2-07 is connected only to cold water supply. In the “stowed position,” its drum is held by four transport screws with plastic plugs and black rubber shock absorber gaskets.

The corrugated drain hose is non-removable and has a traditional design.

The detergent tray has three compartments: the left one is for the main wash, the right one is for the preliminary wash, and the center one is for the conditioner. Laundry containers do not have separate trays or provisions for liquid detergent.

The drum is made of stainless steel with perforations both on the end wall and along the perimeter. On its walls there are special round protrusions arranged in groups of three: most likely, they are designed to somehow improve hydrodynamics. The drum ribs are plastic and also perforated.

The drum cover is held on by plastic hinges.

The spring-loaded response part of the latch, located on the lid, is made of silumin.

At the bottom of the front panel, under the round cover, there is an exhaust filter plug. Both the lid and the stopper open easily and without difficulty.

The filter hatch is not equipped with any devices for collecting the inevitably flowing water: during maintenance, you will have to place absorbent material under it.

The hose for connecting to the water supply is not equipped with AquaStop/AquaProtect systems and has a simple design. There is an L-shaped connector on one side and a straight connector on the other. Hose length - 150 cm.

We were not surprised by the standard set of additional accessories: the plugs and hanger for the drain hose do not differ from analogues.

What's inside?

As usual, we perform partial disassembly of the washing machine and look at how it works.

Instructions

The user manual is printed on thin yellowish paper of rather poor quality. The quality of the printing is also underwhelming: although the text of the instructions is easy to understand, some of the illustrations could be clearer.

The 30-page brochure was written for several models of washing machines: a number of functions mentioned in the documentation did not work quite as expected, some features were missing in our model, and some of the available ones were not described in the manual.

Information about the seller and date of sale is included in the instructions on the appropriate page. There are also stickers with the full model index and serial number of our copy.

Operating the machine is intuitive and you rarely need to refer to the manual during operation.

Control

The control panel consists of a round program selector and a display with red LED indicators.

At the bottom of the display there are touch buttons that control washing modes. The left one controls the duration of quick wash (14′/30′/44′) in the corresponding position of the program selector, and in other positions it allows you to select one of three levels of washing intensity, changing its duration.

There are also buttons on the display:

• selection of additional functions (pre-wash, extra rinse, light ironing) with an indicator of the selected option above the button;
• delayed start (up to 24 hours in 1 hour increments);
• temperature: selection of washing temperature (20, 30, 40, 60 °C and Max);
• spin: select the spin speed (from 0 to 1100 rpm).

The child lock function is activated by simultaneously pressing the temperature and spin buttons.

The display also includes indicators:

• expected duration of washing;
• lid lock;
• wireless interface activity;
• button lock (child lock function).

The “Kg Detector” icon lights up when washing while the load detection function is operating.

In the table below we show the default values ​​for each program and the possible range of manual settings.

Smartphone control

To control the washing machine, the Candy simply-Fi application is used (1,000,000+ installations, average rating at the time of writing the review - 2.7). We have dealt with this program several times and, frankly speaking, started testing without much enthusiasm: the number of shortcomings and the not-so-broad functionality did not make us delighted. Users who downloaded the app seemed to share our opinion: the app's rating dropped from 3.0 to 2.7 in just over a month.

However, having re-launched the downloaded and installed Simply-Fi, we realized that since the last testing, Candy has completely updated the application, radically redesigning it, changing the design and improving functionality. This is completely new software that has inherited a low rating from previous versions. However, let's take it in order.

The washing machine comes with a small booklet that describes how to install and configure the application. Using the QR code from the booklet, we are taken to the Play Market page, from where we download the software.

When you first launch the application, you are prompted to enter existing login data or create a new user account. When registering, you need the user's first and last name, email address, which is verified during the confirmation process, and mobile phone number (not verified during registration). In addition, the user must indicate the country of residence. Simply-Fi requires access to the device's location.

After this, it’s your turn to synchronize Candy Smart Pro with the application. We select the type of equipment being configured (this is, of course, a “washing machine”) and enter the date of purchase.

To indicate the washer model, you must either photograph the QR code located on the body under the drum cover, or manually enter the serial number of the device. We used the first method (it requires access to the file system and camera, but these permissions can be revoked after configuration: they will no longer be needed).

The next step is to pair the washing machine with a mobile device via Bluetooth and connect the device to a wireless network with Internet access. Following the instructions on the phone screen, we set the washer selector to the “Wi-Fi” position and wait for the message that it is ready for setup to appear.

From past experience, we remembered that at this stage we would need some almost shamanic actions, but this time the connection was perfect: just enter the password for the wireless network you are using and wait a few seconds. We thank the company's developers for the long-awaited solution to a long-standing problem.

After pairing was completed normally, the program asked if we wanted to check for the presence of some active offers. We didn't find any for our product.

Finally, the washing machine appeared in the list of connected devices. Simply-Fi provides brief instructions for use, after which you can begin washing.

The application stores a variety of washing scenarios, varying in duration, temperature, spin speed and the use of additional functions such as pre-wash or extra rinse. The user can choose one of the ready-made scenarios or use the “Controlled Wash” function, setting the parameters to taste.

The main value of Simply-Fi is the ability to combine additional options (remember that with manual control, the machine does not allow you to combine, say, a pre-wash with an additional rinse). There is no night mode available in the application on the washer panel (low noise operation scenario).

After selecting the options, we select the type of fabric or item of clothing and the colors of the laundry to be washed. You can select several options at once.

The last two steps are to select the degree of soiling and turn on the steam mode for easy ironing. After this, the application will offer to run the most suitable script stored in memory.

The washing process is displayed on the main page of the application. Here we see the time until the end of the scenario.

Washing can be paused or interrupted if necessary.

In the settings section, you can change the hardness of the water used and the frequency of reminders about the need to carry out maintenance of the device. Unlike dishwashers, which regulate the consumption of salt and rinse aid depending on the hardness settings, the washing machine does not condition the water, and this parameter in the settings apparently only affects the frequency of reminders about the need for service.

In the “Visual Tips” section you can find recommendations on clothing care, stain removal, minor repairs and some other useful information.

At the end of the wash, the application sends a standard system push notification. You can monitor your laundry online not only on your home network: the washing machine is accessible via the Internet.

Exploitation

Before starting work, you must remove the four shipping screws holding the drum and remove the screws, rubber plugs and plastic bushings. If the bushings fall inside the device, it’s not a big deal. To remove them, just tilt the machine body slightly and they will fall out onto the floor.

The installed washing machine should be adjusted to the floor level. To do this, you need to loosen the locknuts on the legs of the device, rotate the legs so that they lower or rise for a level position, and secure their new position with the locknuts.

Connecting to a water supply or sewerage system does not cause the slightest difficulty: the inlet hose is connected at one end to the device, the other to a water outlet, and the drain hose is discharged into the sewer. All hoses of the device are standard, without any design features.

When we first got acquainted with the car, it seemed to us that the “Start” button was not sensitive enough: it did not respond to pressing the first time. However, during further operation, we understood the logic of its operation: after turning the selector from the Off position, 5-8 seconds should pass, after which the start button can be pressed - and the washing program will start. If you use the button before this moment, it will be blocked, and the washing machine will ignore subsequent presses. The instructions instruct you to start washing only with the drum closed.

When manually controlled, additional washing functions can be selected only one at a time. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to run a pre-wash and an intensive rinse cycle in one cycle. However, when controlled from the application, you can combine these functions.

The “Kg Check” function works with those programs for which the execution duration is not indicated on the machine selector. With its help, the machine evaluates the load at the beginning of the cycle and, based on the measurements, sets the washing duration and the required water consumption. After this, the “Kg Check” indicator goes out, and a more accurate operating time appears on the screen. This compensates for the lack of half-load mode in Candy SmartPro and can significantly reduce the cost of water and electricity for washing.

We rate the sensitivity of the touch buttons as average: they do not allow accidental pressing, but they do not respond to pressing with 100% clarity.

The estimated operating time does not always exactly correspond to the stated one. The rinsing and spinning stages take significantly longer than the washing machine promises. This is especially noticeable in the last half hour. Below we will demonstrate what this looks like in practice.

At the end of the wash cycle, the selector must be manually set to the “off” position.

Care

Use a damp cloth to clean the outer surfaces of the case. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

It is recommended to regularly clean the tray of any residual detergents and additives. To do this, the cassette should be completely removed, applying a little force, rinsed under running water and put back in place.

You also need to monitor the condition of the exhaust filter, cleaning it if necessary. Before turning it inside out, it is recommended to place a piece of water-absorbent fabric under it to keep the floor dry. The filter is then turned counterclockwise, removed and cleaned.

Our measurements

We decided to try to at least approximately estimate the drum capacity of washing machines. Its shape is not strictly cylindrical, so you can estimate the volume by imagining the drum as a regular figure. In this case, we have a cylinder with a radius of 25 cm and a depth of 24.5 cm. Its volume is 48106 cm³, that is, approximately 48 liters.

As an experiment, we decided to monitor the work of the main program, as they say, minute by minute (we used the standard “Clap” program with default settings). This is what we got.

Energy and water consumption

Unfortunately, these parameters are not really given in the instructions, so we offer you the results of our measurements for the programs that we used during the testing process.

Spin

We were also interested in the real efficiency of pressing, which we decided to measure in grams of water per gram of cotton using the formula: (weight of pressed material - dry weight) / dry weight. 10 terry white towels from Ikea with a total weight of about 2 kg were used as reference linen.

Noise

The noise level was measured in a room where washing machines are often located - the bathroom. The sound level meter was located at a level of 1 m from the floor and at a distance of 1 m from the washing machine, in the center of the front side.

The maximum power consumed by the machine, recorded during practical tests, was 1736 W. In standby mode, the washing machine consumes 1.6 W, and in the off state it consumes about 0.4 W.

Practice tests

To evaluate the basic function of the washing machine, we took a set of the already mentioned white terry towels and stained them with stains of common and difficult to wash organic soils. Let's see how standard programs cope with them.

Cotton

We applied red wine, soy sauce, ketchup, vegetable oil, blood and cocoa to a set of six towels (each towel has a different substance). The stains were dried at room temperature for 24 hours, after which we ran a test wash.

We used powder for white linen from one of the manufacturers well known both in Russia and in the world. The dosage was calculated according to the instructions on the package.

Contaminated laundry was washed using the standard “Cotton” program at a temperature of 40 °C. The washing machine automatically determined the operating time: approximately 1 hour 48 minutes. The result can be seen in the photos below.

Red wine

Of all the artificially created stains on white fabric after washing, only traces of red wine remained visible. Other stains were washed clean. This is a very good result for a standard cotton program without prewash.

We applied the same substances to the towels as last time and left them to dry for a day.

The laundry was washed on the White Cotton program at 60°C with a pre-wash. We were also extremely pleased with the result: not a single trace remained of the stains.

conclusions

We liked the Candy Smart Pro CO4 117T1/2-07 washing machine for its excellent washing quality, low noise level and good efficiency. Its weak point is perhaps its low spin class: 1100 rpm may not be enough for the discerning consumer. But in its price category the car occupies a very worthy place.

The excellent functionality of the updated application not only allows you to control the device via the Internet, but also significantly expands the capabilities of the washing machine, adding additional functions that are only accessible from the smartphone screen.

Pros:

Test No. 1. Washing quality

To begin with, we decided to carry out a test wash: we took the dirty white T-shirt of a 12-year-old teenager after training. They put it in the drum along with a set of bed linen: sheet, duvet cover, pillowcase.

“ Cotton: ideal wash 59 ” program , the time was displayed on the screen - 59 minutes. and temperature 40 °C.

Just an hour later they brought out the underwear. They checked the jersey - it was clean, no traces of sports victories.

Then they just started washing everything: linen, clothes, towels, curtains and tulle, sports uniforms, autumn jackets - a common job for home appliances.

Two months of testing made it possible to verify that the washing machine washes any laundry well: white, colored, sports, delicate, wool.

If we compare CANDY Rapid'O RO441286DWMC4-07 with my previous washing machine, then Candy is definitely faster. In just an hour you can wash clothes made from different fabrics using special programs. The washing quality remains excellent. In two months, I only used the standard program once, and then only as part of a test.

Results

The CANDY Rapid'O RO441286DWMC4-07 washing machine surprised me with its range of programs and functions, and a large number of adjustable settings. Everyone will choose their favorite programs according to their preferences. The machine has an original design and compact dimensions. The quality of washing is excellent.

The short ones became the most popular - there are nine of them. They differ in the ratio of settings.

Getting to know CANDY Rapid'O

The CANDY Rapid'O RO441286DWMC4-07 washing machine fits perfectly into a small bathroom; it is narrow - only 44 cm.

I really liked this: the capabilities of a full-size washing machine in a compact design. Candy appliances, as always, have a beautiful design. There are no complaints about the build quality and appearance.

Raised loading hatch Ø35 cm. Unusual Smart Console controls with a “piano” layout of touch buttons. There is an informative digital display in the center, and the selection wheel displays the most frequently used washing modes.

The only thing that disappointed me was that the instructions for use were not the most presentable (yellow paper does not suit such beautiful equipment).
