Ask a Question

Error E9 for a Samsung washing machine is typical for units manufactured before 2007. In modern equipment it corresponds to the code LE.

In machines without a display, when this malfunction occurs, the “Bio wash” and “cold water” LEDs light up, while all indicators responsible for operating modes blink. What to do in case of such a malfunction will be discussed in this article.

What does error E9 mean?

It is worth noting that this error appears on Samsung washing machines manufactured before 2007. In new models, its code is replaced by L9, however, the essence of the malfunction does not change. Error E9 on a Samsung washing machine clearly indicates that the system has detected water in the pan. This kind of error can occur at different stages of the program, but most often it happens at the beginning of the wash, while drawing water.

Older model cars do not have screens; the devices are signaled by mode indicator lamps. In most cases, error E9 looks like this: the LEDs indicating the washing modes blink synchronously, “Bio wash” and “Cold water” are constantly on.

When should you call a specialist?

Only a master can cope with some breakdowns. Without professional knowledge and specialized tools, it will be difficult to do this yourself.

Depending on the complexity of the work, the chosen workshop and the locality, the price may vary. However, there should not be a significant difference. You can try to save money by contacting a private master.

To minimize the risk of meeting scammers, you need to study reviews about the selected specialist. You should inquire about the cost of repair work before agreeing to carry it out.

Services and their cost:

  1. Replacing the cuff . Signs of breakdown: error E9 appears, there may be no water on the floor, but the pan will be full. If a complete replacement of the rubber band is required, the cost of the work will be 1,900 rubles. When the damage is minor, the cuff can be turned with the hole up and sealed. Additionally, you will need to pay the cost of the seal itself.

  2. Replacing the pipe . Signs of breakdown: the machine displays an error, water appears in the pan and on the floor. The cost of work is 1800 rubles.

  3. Replacing the pressure switch . Signs: error E9 appears, the machine does not start washing. The cost of replacing the sensor is 1900 rubles.
  4. Replacing the electronic control module . Signs: a breakdown can occur at any time; the machine either completely breaks down or displays an error. The electrical circuit needs to be replaced or repaired. The minimum cost of work is 2400 rubles.
  5. Replacing the Aquastop sensor . Signs of failure: no water, an error appears. Cost of work – 2400 rubles
  6. Replacing the drain hose . Signs: a leak appears at the back of the washing machine, a code appears on the screen. The cost of replacing the hose: 1400 rubles.
  7. Replacing wiring . Signs: the code appears on the screen and then disappears. Cost of service: from 1800 rubles.

Reasons for the error

Before deciding how to correct the situation, it is worth understanding what could be causing it. There aren't many options:

  • The Aquastop sensor has failed;
  • the rubber cuff is damaged or has lost elasticity;
  • the integrity of one of the pipes is damaged;
  • the pressure switch has failed;
  • problems with the wiring inside the car.

Sometimes the cause of the error is the failure of the electronic components of the machine control board circuit. This situation can be caused by the natural “aging” of parts or a sudden drop in voltage.

Ways to resolve the error

Did error E9 occur in your Samsung washing machine when spinning clothes? The first thing to do is to carefully inspect the equipment, all components and valves. It is often possible to immediately detect damaged elements that need to be replaced.

Let us describe the sequence of user actions when diagnosing the machine:

  • Initially, inspect the drain hose and its connections, check the integrity.
  • Check that the drain is positioned correctly. If there is a sudden change in altitude, liquid may flow back into the drum.
  • Inspect the filter to determine whether it is installed correctly.
  • Check the detergent tray to see if the hole in it is clear.
  • Inspect the cuff for damage.
  • Check the hoses connected to the drain pump.
  • Inspect cables and terminals.

DE error on a Samsung washing machine - what it means and how to fix it

Subsequent repairs depend on the detected cause of the failure. You may need to purchase washing machine components to replace damaged components.

Replacing the sensor

Often the cause of the error is sensor failure. Naturally, they need to be replaced to continue using the equipment. For the Aquastop sensor located in the pan, this procedure is carried out according to the following scheme:

  • Remove the pallet fasteners.
  • Dismantle it.
  • Unplug the wires, disconnect the latches and pull out the sensor.
  • Supply the purchased spare part.
  • Reassemble in reverse order.

A water level sensor is located at the top of the machine. If it fails, then before replacing it is necessary to unplug the equipment from the outlet and close the water supply tap. Then:

  • Unscrew the bolts from the back and remove the cover from the housing.
  • Locate the sensor inside. Usually it is located in the corner.
  • Turn off the power supply to it.
  • Unclench the clamp and remove the tube.
  • Install the new sensor and reassemble in reverse order.

Replacing cuffs and pipes

Is the cuff damaged or has lost its elasticity? Since to replace it you will have to disassemble the case, it is better to buy a new part and contact a specialist. When attempting to install it yourself, there is a high probability of damaging important elements.

The pipe can be changed through the bottom. Clamps are used to secure it; you will have to buy new fasteners, since the old one is no longer suitable for use after dismantling.

Not sure you can handle replacing parts yourself? Have you examined the machine and haven’t found the cause? In such situations, you need to call a specialist. A professional with knowledge and experience will be able to deal with troubleshooting problems without any problems.

Washing machine inspection

Once it has become clear what this error means, you can proceed directly to eliminating its cause. It doesn’t matter how exactly you plan to repair the device, on your own or by calling a specialist, first of all, you should perform a number of simple steps. These are simple operations during which the cause of the malfunction will be accurately determined and, possibly, corrected.

  1. Disconnect the drain hose and check that it is not damaged. It is also worth checking the tightness of connections to the machine and sewerage system.
  2. Make sure the drain is located correctly. In the event of a strong change in altitude, water may spontaneously return to the drum, causing system errors.
  3. Check the drain filter to ensure it is clean and not distorted during installation.
  4. Make sure that the filler hole in the detergent tray is not blocked. If clogged, water may flow past the tray, draining into the pan.
  5. Visually inspect the cuff to make sure there are no tears or abrasions.
  6. Check the integrity of the hoses suitable for the drain pump and the reliability of their fastening with clamps.
  7. Check the condition of the electrical wiring; special attention should be paid to the contact blocks; during operation, they are often covered with a layer of oxide, which makes it impossible to transmit signals to the control module and back.

Another simple method, which is suitable not only for Samsung machines, but also devices from a number of other manufacturers, is to restart the washing machine. This will help in case of system failure, for example, due to a voltage drop. Rebooting the machine is easy; just unplug it for a few minutes and turn it back on.

Prevention of the problem

prevent error E9 from appearing :

  • to prevent damage to the cuff or drain hose, before washing you need to carefully check the pockets and remove all sharp objects from them;
  • To wash things, you can use a powder marked “Automatic”; a product marked “hand wash” is not suitable;
  • The powder tray must be removed and cleaned regularly;
  • in a private house you need to take care that there are no rodents - they often damage wires by gnawing them;
  • If the plugs in your apartment regularly break, you need to call an electrician to fix the problem.

Replacing the Aquastop sensor

Despite its apparent simplicity (this sensor is a microswitch mounted on a polystyrene foam float), it can also fail. There is no point in trying to repair it; it is easier and more reliable to buy a new one. It is important to choose a device that is compatible with the washing machine model, preferably an original one.

The sensor is located at the bottom of the machine, in the pan. To replace it, you need to turn off the power to the machine and disconnect it from communications. For ease of operation, the machine is moved away from the wall and placed on its side. Then perform the following steps:

  • unscrew the bolts holding the pallet;
  • carefully move it as far as the wires allow;
  • disconnect the electrical wiring plug;
  • loosen the latches, remove the sensor;
  • install a new part.

After replacing the sensor, it makes sense to check the operation of the washing machine. If the error does not disappear, you will have to change the second sensor - the pressure switch.

Hatch door

If the hatch door is not closed properly, the errors dE, dE1, dE2, DC, DC1, DC2 or ED will appear on the display. The reasons are:

  1. The door is not closed properly.
  2. The hatch closing mechanism is broken.
  3. The door moved due to the boiling water.
  4. They try to open the door by force.
  5. The locking connector is not installed correctly.
  6. Spontaneous activation of the sensor due to vibration.
  7. Control module error.

If such an error occurs, you need to open and close the door again so that no litter or corner of laundry gets into the lock. If the error is still displayed, then you need to contact a technician.

Replacing the pressure switch

This sensor monitors the water level in the tank by measuring its pressure. It is located on the top of the machine just below the top cover. Replacing the pressure switch will not require much time and effort. This is a simple task that even a novice repairman can handle.

Before starting work, the machine is disconnected from the network. It is not necessary to disconnect the supply hose; simply close the tap that regulates the water supply. The work is performed in the following sequence:

  • unscrew the bolts on the back wall holding the cover;
  • remove the top panel;
  • find a pressure switch - a round part to which a tube and several wires fit;
  • disconnect the electrical wiring plug;
  • loosen the clamp, remove the tube;
  • replace the part with a new one.

During operation, it is necessary to check the integrity of the tube; it can also cause error E9. It may not be necessary to replace the sensor itself.

Imbalance

If the device is unbalanced, the display will show UE, UB or E4. This happens due to the following factors:

  1. Uneven distribution of laundry in the machine.
  2. The unit is out of balance.

You need to do the following: evenly distribute the laundry inside the device and balance the device according to the instructions.

Troubleshooting the cuff, pipes, control module

It is not difficult to detect a damaged pipe connecting the pump to the tank, as well as to replace it. The work is carried out through the bottom; in all models it is easily removed, and in some it is completely absent. To replace, just loosen two clamps and install a new part.

As already mentioned, the cause of error E9 may be the cuff of the loading hatch. Replacing it is quite a difficult task, and given that the cuff is made of thin and soft rubber, it may result in a torn part. It is better to entrust this to a specialist.

The most difficult case can be considered a faulty control module. This is the most critical part of the machine; you should not try to fix it yourself. The only thing you can do at home is to check the contact pads and visually verify the physical integrity of the electronic components of the circuit. For more detailed testing and subsequent repairs, it is better to contact a specialized workshop.

Tachogenerator (or motor) of the engine

If the motor breaks down or it cannot work correctly due to a blockage or too much laundry, then the Samsung machine may issue codes 3E, 3U1, 3E2, 3E3, 3E4, 3C, 3C1, 3C2, 3C3, 3C4 or EA. The reasons for such errors may be:

  1. Engine blockage due to foreign objects getting into it.
  2. Problems with internal wiring or contacts.
  3. Malfunction of the tachogenerator itself.
  4. Motor overload due to exceeding the permissible weight of the laundry.
  5. Incorrect engine assembly.
  6. Control module error.

To solve these issues, you need to reduce the amount of dirty laundry in the machine drum, remove blockages, correctly assemble engine parts, fix problems with electrical wiring or contacts, or replace the corresponding broken parts.
