Interpretation of error F9 (F09) on an Ariston washing machine: causes of malfunction, solutions

You, as usual, put your things in, selected a washing mode and started the program. The Ariston or Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine blocked the hatch, took in water, but the drum never started spinning, and the code F01 or F1 lit up on the display. However, for the first time the error could appear at any stage of the washing machine’s operation: washing, rinsing or spinning. But in the future, it is displayed immediately after starting in any program, even Spin, Rinse or Drain.

Note! In rare cases, error F 01 may appear and disappear. If this is exactly the situation you have, do not hesitate to repair it; in this mode, the washing machine will not last long. Soon your Ariston will display error F01 immediately after turning it on, you will not be able to wash your clothes at all, and repairs will cost much more.

If you have an Ariston washing machine without a screen, then it will report error F01 as follows:

  • On the most “ancient” models, with two indicators - power and hatch lock (Ariston Margherita type), the on / off indicator will blink (one flash). In this case, the program selector knob will click and rotate in a circle in a clockwise direction, and the hatch locking lamp (“Key” or “Lock”) will be constantly on.
  • More modern Ariston AGRs, with indicators of program stages (models AVL, AML, AVSL, etc.) will show error F01 by flashing the indicator of the “Additional rinse” button (the first from the bottom in the column of additional function buttons) and more frequent flickering of the “Key” indicator hatch lock.
  • In Hotpoint-Ariston Low-End models (ARSL, ARMXXL, ARXL, etc.), the “Key” light (the first indicator from the bottom in the vertical row) will blink. All horizontal buttons for additional functions may also light up.
  • In Hotpoint-Ariston Aqualtis machines without a screen (AQSL models), error F 01 will be indicated by flashes of the cold water wash temperature indicator (the first temperature light on the bottom).

Error interpretation

Code F01 / F1 in an Ariston washing machine means a problem in the control circuit of the motor that drives the drum. For some reason, the motor does not respond to signals from the control board (electronic controller), so the washing machine drum does not rotate in any program, and the washing machine itself writes an error.

Note! For Ariston washing machines of the Dialogic family (Ariston AD models), the error code is fundamentally different. In particular, error F1 or F01 means a breakdown in communication between the control and display modules, and it is completely similar to error F12.

The appearance of error F1 / F01 is usually associated with a serious malfunction in the motor circuit. But sometimes you can fix this code yourself.

Code options

At the initial stage, it is necessary to understand what options the error code F01 represents. Here you can’t expect tricky surprises from the manufacturer of the unit. If the washing unit has a screen, then up to eighty-five percent of the products at the time of a characteristic malfunction will generate an F01 signal, and the rest will display an F1 error code.

If the SM does not have a display, then recognizing error F01 is more difficult. But if you have the necessary knowledge, you can cope with this problem. Let's look at the available options:

  1. On Ariston AQSL machines, error F01 will be indicated by the blinking temperature indicator located at the bottom of the panel.
  2. Low-End will display an error by flashing the key light or lighting up horizontally located lights.
  3. Ariston units from the AVSL product line will display error F01 by flashing the indicator light for the “extra rinse” function while the indicator light is on, indicating the door is blocked.
  4. Outdated Margherita models signal a problem by constantly lighting the “Key” lamp and periodically blinking the “on” indicator light.

Error F01 - what to do, how to fix it yourself

  • Control or display module failure. If the F 01 indication appears for the first time, try disconnecting the Ariston SM from the power supply for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in. Perhaps the control or display module is faulty, and after a reboot the error will disappear. The cause of frequent failures of the control module may be high humidity in the room where the washing machine is operated.
  • Low voltage in the network. A voltage of less than 200 V may cause this error. Restore normal power supply to your home or apartment.
  • A damaged power cord or plug may also cause error F 1. Replace the cord or plug.
  • Connecting through an extension cord or a weak socket can lead to a drop in the supply voltage below 200 V when starting the motor, and as a result, to the appearance of the F1 message on the Ariston SMA. Connect the washing machine to electricity correctly: on a separate line and your own machine. If the outlet is physically outdated, replace it with a new one, always with grounding.
  • The contacts in the motor control circuit have come loose. Check all connections from the washing machine motor to the control board. For example, in the practice of RemBytTech, there were cases when the motor block came off with the current error code.

Our advice failed, and the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine continues to show error F1 when turned on? This means that we will have to state the fact of the breakdown. Unfortunately, you are unlikely to manage without the help of a professional master.

What to do in such cases?

Electrical connection

Let's consider the labor-intensive process of finding and eliminating the reasons why error code F01 was displayed. Experienced specialists advise starting the search for possible problems with simpler ones, moving towards more complex issues that involve disassembling the Ariston machine.

When code F01 appears on the screen, the control module of the Ariston machine is first checked for the origin of a local failure. Everything happens simply:

  • de-energize the machine from the electrical network;
  • wait from five to seven minutes;
  • We turn on the Ariston unit and try to activate the washing program.

If this method does not give positive results, we repeat the reboot attempt several more times. Sometimes such a failure is eliminated after two or three restarts.

One of the indirect reasons for such a failure and the appearance of error F01 is excessively low voltage in the network. This happens in small towns. Ariston does not always respond to this problem with error code F01, but it is necessary to check because a problem with the electrical supply can lead to quite serious failures. If this happens often, it is recommended to buy a device for stabilizing the voltage and connect the Ariston washing machine to the network through it.

Now you need to use a multimeter and check the socket and cord for integrity.

Checking the electrical wiring

The chances of getting results are slim, but sometimes the problem lies here. When all the easy reasons are over, you will have to look inside your Ariston washing machine. To do this, perform the following steps:

  • we install the Ariston washing unit in a room with sufficient free space so that nothing interferes with the repair work;
  • remove the tray for washing powders and put it aside;
  • unscrew the screws holding the back panel of the machine;
  • remove the drive belt;
  • We photograph the wires on the engine of the Ariston car, disconnect them;
  • Unscrew the motor mounts and remove the engine.

First we inspect the brushes, then the winding. Make sure that there is no leakage to the body part. For this:

  • on the sides of the Ariston washing machine motor we look for small screws that secure the brushes and unscrew them;
  • remove the brushes, check for wear, and replace if necessary;
  • We set the multimeter probes in turns, systematically checking them in search of a breakdown;
  • If everything is normal, we move on from the winding to checking the housing part.

If a breakdown is detected in the winding or a leak to the housing, you can throw away the motor without any doubt. Repair in such cases is expensive and does not justify itself.

If the engine is working, use a multimeter to check all the wires powering it. Each element is checked repeatedly to eliminate the F01 error and not repeat such work.

Now it's the turn of the control board for the Ariston washing machine. According to the old tradition, one should not go into such details. Without the appropriate experience, you can only cause additional harm by increasing the cost of repairs. It is best to entrust this type of work to an experienced service center professional.

If you have tried all the testing methods, but the Ariston washing machine still refuses to work and displays error F01, you can confidently state that it is broken. Only a master knows how to fix it.

Possible faults requiring repair

RemBytTech specialists have already repaired a total of 5967(!) washing machines of the Ariston and Hotpoint Ariston brands. Therefore, it was not difficult for us to summarize all the most common breakdowns with error F01 into one table.

The control board (electronic controller) has failed - the main chip that controls the operation of the entire washing machine - from 2000 rubles.

As a rule, the motor control elements on the board “light up”. Most often, these are triacs - for Ariston models with a commutator motor or IGBT transistors (field switches) - for models with a three-phase motor (for example, AVL 109 or Aqualtis). But sometimes other radio elements on the board in the motor control circuit (transistors, resistors, etc.) also fail, the tracks through which the signal is transmitted burn out, or the contacts burn out.

In rare cases, error F 01 can be caused by:

  • electronic controller firmware failure;
  • failure of the control board processor.

Signs

The Ariston washing machine does not spin the drum and issues F 01 in any program immediately after starting.

How to fix

All elements of the electronic controller responsible for engine control are checked and replaced if a malfunction is detected. Burnt contacts and burnt tracks are restored. The firmware is also checked, and if necessary, the controller is re-flashed.

If it is not possible to restore the functionality of the module after all these manipulations, or it is immediately clear that the reason is in the processor, then the controller is replaced with a new one.

The electric motor brushes are worn out - from RUB 1,500.

In Ariston models with a commutator motor, the brushes wear out over time so that they no longer create sufficient torque, which is why the drum stops rotating.

Signs

The Ariston washing machine does not spin the drum and issues F 01 in any program immediately after starting.

How to fix

The motor brushes need to be replaced.

The electric motor of the washing machine is faulty - from 2100 rubles.

The motor winding has burned out or there has been a leak to the housing.

Signs

After starting the wash, there is no noise from the motor of the Ariston washing machine, the drum does not rotate, and error F01 appears.

How to fix

Repairing the motor is impractical; it will need to be replaced.

Damaged wiring or contacts in the area from the control board to the motor - from RUB 1,600.

Because of this, the signal in the engine control circuit is interrupted. In private homes, this is often caused by rodents (mice, rats).

Signs

After starting the wash, there is no noise from the motor of the Ariston washing machine, the drum does not rotate, and error F01 appears.

The main causes of the error

Let's look at the more common options for error F01:

  • moisture has entered the connecting contacts of the motor and controller;
  • a short circuit occurred in the electrical circuit connecting the engine and the block of the Ariston machine;
  • corrosion has formed on the motor contact;
  • the problem lies in the connecting harness from the motor to the controller.

Sometimes error F01 appears periodically and signals that urgent repairs to the Ariston unit are required.

Diagnostic key

Diagnostic key

It is available in almost every Ariston SMA. Its main purpose is to indicate various breakdowns. The verification process is fast and provides reliable information. This function will help analyze the quality operation of each mode, determine the breakdown, and eliminate the cause.

To activate the verification process, perform the following steps:

  • a diagnostic key is connected, activating the testing program. We insert the device into a special connector and monitor the light signals;
  • activate the verification program. In this case, the washing machine must be connected to all communications; we do not fill the tank with water; we close the hatch tightly.

We solve problems on our own

Let's give some tips that can help you avoid unnecessary financial costs:

  1. The appearance of error F01 may be caused by an increased level of humidity in the room in which your Ariston machine is located. It is recommended to ventilate more often.
  2. Problems with voltage in the network can only be corrected by an electrician, or you will have to spend money on a stabilizer.
  3. If error F01 occurs due to the power cord with socket, replace these elements. You should not use extension cords to avoid making the situation worse.
  4. Check the contacts, remove traces of corrosion and moisture from them. Perhaps a block has come loose in the engine.
  5. You should periodically check the wiring connections leading from the motor to the control board of the Ariston machine.

Code recognition scheme based on indicator signals

There are many models of Ariston washing machines without a display, for example, Avsl 80, Aqualtis, Margherita 2000 or top-loading models Avtl 104, Avtl 83. They signal problems by blinking indicators on the dashboard.

It is not difficult to decipher light signals; to do this you need:

  • find in the photographs below an image of the operating panel of your washing machine;
  • determine which number each flashing indicator corresponds to;
  • add up all the numbers.

The number resulting from the addition will correspond to the error information code. For example, if the indicators corresponding to numbers 1 and 4 are blinking on the panel, then their sum of 5 will mean error F05.

The photos below show the numerical values of the indicators of various models of Ariston washing machines.

The photo shows the numerical values for the indicators of the Hotpoint-Ariston washing machines (above) and Ariston AVL, AVSL (below)

How to determine the fault code - step-by-step instructions

In devices without displays, breakdowns are determined by the glow of certain sensors

In devices without displays, breakdowns are determined by the glow of certain sensors

In machines with a monitor, the cause of the malfunction is reflected on it in the form of an alphanumeric code. In older models, it is detected by the glow of indicators (washing modes, hatch blocking, etc.). For each error, a combination with an encrypted digital value is developed. To identify the cause of the malfunction, you need to perform the following steps:

Step 1. Determine the model of household appliances (look at the case or in the instructions for use).

Model name

Each washing mode on the front panel of the machine corresponds to numbers - 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16. If the indicators that correspond to the digital values 1 and 2 are lit, you need to look for error number F03 or F3. Do not forget that not all breakdowns can be repaired independently - sometimes it is better to contact a service center.
