Fresh lemon is not only suitable for tea: clean dirt from the surface of an acrylic bath by rubbing with half a cut citrus, or quickly wash the microwave by placing a container of water and lemon slices in it for 8-10 minutes at maximum power. The softened dirt can simply be wiped off with a sponge.
If your favorite things show the first signs of gestation in the form of untidy pellets, you can get rid of them using a special machine - a shaver. It quickly and effectively shaves off clumps of fabric fibers and returns things to their proper appearance.
Threads made of gold and silver, which were used to embroider clothes in the old days, are called gimp. To obtain them, the metal wire was pulled for a long time with pliers to the required fineness. This is where the expression “to drag out the rigmarole” came from - “to do long, monotonous work” or “to delay the completion of a task.”
The dishwasher cleans more than just plates and cups. You can load it with plastic toys, glass lamp shades and even dirty vegetables, such as potatoes, but only without using detergents.
The habit of using an automatic washing machine “sparingly” can lead to the appearance of an unpleasant odor in it. Washing at temperatures below 60℃ and short rinses allow fungi and bacteria from dirty clothes to remain on internal surfaces and actively multiply.
Fault codes for the ElG washing machine
How can the user understand where exactly the LG washing machine broke down? There is a self-diagnosis system for this. If a problem is detected, the system displays ELG error codes on the display.
All you have to do is decipher the code and find the problem.
Fault code | Meaning |
A.E. | Auto shutdown error. There is a leak. Aquastop worked. |
C.E. | There is an overload of the SM. |
dE | The hatch is not fully closed. The wash does not start. |
F.E. | The water level in the tank has been exceeded. |
E1 | Water has entered the pan. Check for leaks. |
HE | Damage to the heating element (heating element). |
I.E. | No water filling for 4 minutes. |
O.E. | No water draining for 5 minutes. |
P.E. | The water has not reached the specified level within 25 minutes. |
UE | An imbalance has arisen. |
tE | Thermal sensor failure. |
E3 | Incorrect download. |
S.E. | Failure of the tachogenerator. |
L.E. | Damage to the door lock (UBL). |
Now you know the meaning of errors and you can start repairing the automatic machine yourself. Let's look at typical malfunctions that can happen during operation of an LG washing machine.
The water fills normally, but the wash does not start
You turned on the SMA, water was drawn in, but the washing still does not start. What is the reason?
- The heater (heating element) is faulty. The water does not heat up, so the wash does not start. If you need to wash your clothes urgently, try choosing a low-heat wash cycle. This video will help you replace the element:
- Failure of the pressure switch or thermistor. A faulty pressure switch does not signal that the optimal water level in the tank has been reached. If the thermistor fails, the module does not receive a message about the heating temperature. Elements need to be replaced.
- The main module of the LG washing machine, which gives the machine components the command to start working, has failed.
- LG direct drive washing machine motor malfunction.
For more information about the repair, watch the video:
- Incorrect mode selection.
- There is a blockage in the drain system (filter, pipe, pump).
How to fix problems with a Lji washing machine with your own hands? You need to check the drain pump. For this:
- Open the hatch and remove the clamp by bending the cuff to the side.
- Disconnect the door lock connectors and close the door.
- Remove water using a drain filter.
- After unscrewing the mounting bolts, remove the filter housing.
- Lift the top panel by removing the screws.
- Remove the dispenser tray.
- Unscrew the bolts behind the tray at the front and back.
- Remove the control panel by unfastening the latches.
- Remove the front panel screws. Take it away.
- Loosen the clamps of the circulation and drain hoses. Remove the hoses.
- Disconnect the pump hose clamps by loosening them.
- Remove the pump assembly bolts.
- Unclench the clamps and remove the pump.
- After unscrewing the screws, pull the pump out of the volute.
- Look for threads on the impeller that could interfere with operation.
- If there is a malfunction, install a new part.
Why doesn't it turn on?
Having plugged the plug into the socket, you discovered that your washing machine did not respond, the indicator light did not light up, and the welcome music did not play. There are many reasons why a washing machine does not turn on: from simple carelessness of the user to serious breakdowns. Some of them can be fixed on your own, while others can only be fixed with the help of a specialist.
Lack of electricity
The most common situation due to which the unit may not start is the lack of electricity in the network. The following events may be the reason for this:
- The electricity in the house was turned off, but you didn’t notice it.
- The machine was knocked out due to an overload in the network or a short circuit.
- An RCD has tripped, for example, due to a power leak.
- The socket has failed. To eliminate this assumption, plug in another device. If it works, then this reason can be immediately discarded.
The network cable is faulty
To check the working condition of the power cord running from the equipment to the outlet, it is best to use a tester (multimeter). Similar manipulations can be performed using an indicator screwdriver. If the problem is confirmed, then the cord must be replaced completely. Or, having discovered the location of the break, try to connect it using special electrical tape or a soldering iron, which is actually wrong and dangerous, and will not solve the problem, but will only delay it.
The power button is faulty
In most washing machines, after plugging them into the outlet, power is supplied to the off/on button. You can check the working condition of the button using a tester. Having set it to buzzer mode and turned off the power to the machine, you need to ring the button in the on and off state. If it is working, the multimeter will make a characteristic sound. Otherwise, it will need to be replaced.
Problem with FPS (interference filter)
The interference filter suppresses electromagnetic waves that can interfere with the operation of other nearby devices. This could be a TV, dishwasher, microwave oven. If the interference filter breaks down, it stops passing electric current through the circuit, resulting in a problem with turning on the washing machine.
To make sure that the FPS is working properly, you need to test it with a multimeter.
To do this, you need to remove the top cover of the washing machine and find the interference filter underneath. At the input of the FPS there are three wires - grounding (or earth), phase and zero (neutral); There are only two outputs - phase and neutral. If there is voltage at the input, but there is no voltage at the output, then the problem is in this part and it needs to be replaced.
Attention! When ringing the interference filter, be extremely careful.
The control module has failed
If the reasons given are not confirmed, then the problem lies in a non-working control module. Keep in mind that replacing this part is a very expensive investment in the future of the washing machine, and is not always justified. But experienced specialists in some cases can repair this part; all that remains is to call a specialist to your home.
LG machine won't turn on
For what reasons may the washing machine not turn on, how to troubleshoot a washing machine?
- Check that the hatch door is securely closed. Press it tightly until it clicks.
- Check the outlet - the voltage may be too low. To do this, connect another household appliance to it: if it works, then the problem is not in the network.
- Inspect the washer cable and plug for damage. It may be necessary to isolate the defective areas, or better yet, replace the power cord.
- Turn the inlet valve. If the water is turned off, the washing process cannot begin.
- Lastly, the MCA wiring is inspected. To do this, remove the top panel of the machine by unscrewing the two screws at the back. Inspect the interference filter and its wiring at the time of the problem.
How to replace a surge protector
- After unplugging the washing machine and removing the top cover, you will see a filter at the top.
- Unscrew the filter mounting screws on the rear panel.
- Pick up the new part and alternately switch the wires from the faulty filter to the new one.
- Then secure it to the body with bolts.
Now you know how you can repair an LG washing machine with your own hands if the wiring breaks down.
What to do and where to go if the washing machine is under warranty?
If your LG washing machine is under warranty and the control board breaks down, you need to contact a service center . Its contacts must be indicated in the warranty card. If they are not available, you must contact the store where the purchase was made.
If no more than 15 days have passed since the date of purchase, the consumer has the right to refuse the defective product or demand its replacement.
The client must be issued documents stating that the equipment has been accepted for repair , which will be carried out as part of the service.
The corresponding notes are made in the warranty card. Delivery of large equipment and goods weighing more than 5 kg for repair, as well as their return to the buyer, is carried out by the seller and at his expense. You should not take a broken LG washing machine that is under warranty for service yourself.
Variety of temperature sensors
An automatic washing design can be equipped with only one of the following three temperature sensors :
- Bimetallic;
- Thermistor;
- Gas-filled.
Each of these three temperature sensors has its own different capabilities and may differ in design and operation, so each of them is replaced and tested differently.
The bimetallic temperature sensor looks like a tablet, approximately 20-30 millimeters in diameter and 10 millimeters in height. Inside this small tablet is a bimetallic strip. During the process of heating water, when it reaches a certain temperature, the plate bends and creates a closure of the contacts. Under this condition, the heating process is completed.
The thermistor has become a fairly popular element among modern washing designs, which has replaced the temperature sensor.
The thermistor looks like a small elongated cylinder. Its diameter is about 10 millimeters, and its length reaches about 30 millimeters. This cylinder is attached directly to the heating element. The principle of operation of such an element does not involve any mechanical work of the part, but simply changes the resistance during the process of heating the water to the temperature you need.
A gas-filled temperature sensor has only two parts: the first is a tablet made of metal with a diameter of approximately 20-30 millimeters and a height of about 30 millimeters.
The first element is mainly located inside the tank itself, and is always touching the water to change the temperature. The second part of the temperature sensor is made in the form of a copper tube, which is connected to the temperature controller (external), which is located on the control panel of the washing machine. Inside these elements there is a gas, the name of which is freon. Under the temperature of the water, this gas can compress or expand, thereby forming contacts that lead to the heating element.
Preventing future breakdowns
Reasons why the control board may fail and ways to prevent them:
- Manufacturing defect. This reason is rare, but if it is detected, you should immediately contact the company’s service center.
- Electricity surges. To prevent failures from causing damage to the electronics, you need to use an adapter. If the apartment's traffic jams often break, you need to call an electrician.
- The board gets wet. It is unacceptable for water to get on it.
- Transporting the device. The machine must be transported carefully, avoiding falls and shaking.
- Pest feces, such as cockroaches and rodents, get on the board. We need to get rid of them.
