The Bosch washing machine does not drain water, error F 18 is displayed on the display. To understand how to correct the situation, you need to understand the causes of the malfunction. What signs may indicate them:
Reasons and solutions
Don’t get excited and immediately disassemble your Bosch washing machine. You can clear the F18 error and solve the problem in other ways:
DIY repair
You loaded the laundry into the Bosch washing machine, started the wash, and after a while you discovered that the machine did not drain the water, stopped with water and displays code E18 or F 18 on the display.
Correctly identifying the error
In this case, washing begins as standard, but after some time the machine will notify the user of a malfunction.
In most cases, the fault code is displayed before or after rinsing the laundry. Less often, the machine displays error F11 during the spin process. Hotpoint Ariston machines that do not have a screen show the error in different ways.
- The earliest machines, equipped with only a pair of indicators: a power lamp and a hatch closing signal, display a series of 11 flashes of the power indication with a pause of 10-15 seconds. The door block LED (lock or key symbol) will glow continuously. The programmer will begin to rotate in a circle and make characteristic clicks.
- On Ariston automatic machines that have an indication of the stages of washing modes (for example, devices of models AML, AVSL, AVL, etc.) the “Delayed start timer”, “Express wash” and “Additional rinse” lights will light up. At the same time, the UBL LED will blink.
- In the Hotpoint Ariston line of Low-End series washing machines, the “Spin” indication is lit, the “Program End” lamp and the “Key” hatch closing LED are blinking. In addition, the horizontal indication of additional options may also light up.
- Hotpoint Ariston washing machines of the Aqualtis series, which do not have a digital display, will notify the user of the error by flashing the water temperature indicators 30°C, 50°C. At the same time, the light will light up to indicate washing in cold water. As a result, the 1, 2 and 4 water heating indicators in the row are lit, from bottom to top.
What to do if you have diagnosed an F11 error? We’ll figure out how to deal with the problem that has arisen, in which cases a full-fledged repair will be required, in which a simple reboot of the equipment will help.
Samsung washing machine fault codes
To localize breakdowns, error codes are used, which are displayed on the displays, thus helping to eliminate damage. Below is a table with a list of the most common faults and their corresponding alphanumeric combinations.
Error code | Malfunction |
5E, 5C, E2 | The water does not drain from the tank, or the water decreases too slowly. The reason is a blockage in the drain pipe, pump filter, drain hose or sewer. The drain pump may not be working or the drain hose may be squashed. |
4E, 4C, E1 | Water is not poured into the tank. The reason may be a lack of water in the water supply. The water supply tap may be closed, the inlet strainer may be clogged, or the cold and hot water hoses may not be connected correctly. Other sources of malfunction: there is no connection between the hose and the dispenser (pinched or leaking), contact in the inlet valve connector is broken. The Aqua Stop protection for the inlet hose has probably activated. |
HE, HE1, HE2, H1, HC, E5, E6 | The water in the tank does not heat up. The electric water heater is damaged or the temperature sensor is not working. The contact in the connectors leading from the electronic control unit (hereinafter also referred to as the ECU) to the heating element or temperature sensor is probably broken. The ECU is faulty. There is a possibility that there is no water in the tank or it is heated to +100 ℃, as a result of which the SM blocks switching on |
UE, UB, E4 | The balance is disturbed - the laundry is unevenly distributed or clumped in the drum. The reason is most often that there is too little or too much stuff in the drum |
SUD, 5D (SD) | Too much foaming in the tank. The reason is the use of the wrong powder or too much of it. The error is temporary: after the foam settles, the machine will continue cutting |
LE, LC, E9 | Water spontaneously drains from the tank. A common mistake is that the drain hose is connected incorrectly to the sewer or is positioned too low. Maybe the SM tank is leaking |
0E, 0F, 0C, E3 | There is too much water in the tank. The reason is that the drain hose is not connected correctly to the sewer. The fill valve may be stuck open. |
1E, 1C, E7, OE, OF | The water level sensor (pressostat) tube is clogged, pinched or disconnected. Damage to the pressure switch or ECU. Lost contact in connectors |
3E, 3C, EA | Damage to the motor windings. It is possible that contacts in the cables going to the motor or tachogenerator may be damaged. The electric motor may be jammed by a foreign object |
3E1, 3C1 | The contact in the cable going to the motor is broken. The tachogenerator is probably faulty. Drum overload with laundry |
3E2, 3C2 | Problems with signals from the tachogenerator - the contact may be broken or the tachogenerator is not working |
3E3, 3C3, 3C4, 3E4 | Incorrect information comes from the tachometer. The engine may be damaged. There is a possibility of contact failure |
4E2 | Water too hot for delicate wash cycle (more than +50 ℃) |

UC, 9C | Mains voltage is more than 286 V or less than 177 V for a long time |
DE, DC, ED | The hatch door is not closed tightly or does not open. The door hook that fits into the latch of the hatch locking device (hereinafter also referred to as UBL) may be bent. |
DE1 | Lack of contact in the UBL connector. The wire is probably damaged |
TE, TE1, TE2, TE3, TC, TC1, TC2, TC3 | The temperature sensor has failed and there is no signal. Perhaps there is no contact with it or the ECU is faulty |
It should be noted that there are many more error codes that indicate problems with Samsung washing machines. The most common faults are presented above.
The presented video talks about the error codes of the Samsung brand SM:

Let's check the pressure switch
The display of error F17 may occur due to a faulty pressure switch. The level sensor measures the volume of water in the tank; if it does not function correctly, an incorrect signal is transmitted to the control module, and the “brain” blocks the operation of the SMA. To diagnose the pressure switch, you need:
- unplug the power cord of the Siemens washing machine from the outlet;
- turn off the inlet valve responsible for drawing water from the communications;
- remove the cover of the machine body;
- find the pressure switch. It is usually attached to the side wall of the unit;
- take a tube with a diameter corresponding to the size of the pressure switch fitting;
- disconnect the pressure hose, first loosening the clamp;
- Place the tube against the fitting and blow lightly into it.
A working level sensor will produce one or three characteristic clicks. If the device does not make any sounds, it can be stated that it is broken.
Inspect the pressure switch for defects and mechanical damage. Make sure its hose is not clogged. If you find contaminants in the cavity, be sure to rinse the hose under the pressure of warm water.
If a visual inspection does not allow you to clearly understand that the pressure switch is faulty, you can check the sensor with a multimeter. The device is put into resistance determination mode, its probes are applied to the contacts of the pressure switch relay. The values on the multimeter display will change when the contacts are triggered. If the readings remain initial, the level sensor does not work. To understand which contacts of the pressure switch you need to connect the multimeter to, first study the electrical diagram of the device.
There is no point in repairing a non-functioning water level sensor. It is better to buy a new part that matches your Siemens machine model. Moreover, the cost of the pressure switch is low.

The washing machine draws water, but does not wash: self-diagnosis
If water build-up and problems with drum rotation are detected, self-repair is not recommended. The user can only perform diagnostics.
Emergency water drain
After disconnecting the equipment from the network:
- Unclench the fasteners on the back of the housing and disconnect the pipe from the sewer drain;
- Place the hose in a bucket to drain the water;
- Place a container under the hatch and unscrew the plug.
Important! Modern automatic machines have a special valve for emergency draining.
Tank and Drum Inspection
The device is disconnected from the network, after which:
- The side panels are removed;
- The drum is checked - it needs to be turned a little;
- Debris or foreign objects between the tank and drum are removed.
If there is no blockage and the drum does not spin, contact a technician.
Cleaning filters
The machine needs to be turned off. Further actions:
- Removing the front hatch, under which the filter is located;
- Rinsing the clogged element with running water.
Advice! When unscrewing the filter, water will flow from the hose, so place a basin under it.
Checking the drive belt
The part must remain in place. If it is not on the pulley, install it with the calculation of 1 clove per 1 pulley. The torn belt is replaced by a technician.
Removing blockages from the pipe
To check the drain hose:
- Unscrew the fasteners on the drain;
- Remove and inspect the hose, feel it with your fingers;
- Carefully remove debris with a long wire or knitting needle.
After cleaning, the hose is reinstalled.
Diagnostics of heating element and motor
After turning off the machine:
- Check the heater with a tester - current should pass through it;
- Inspect the engine. If the part is bent, the brushes need to be changed.
Brushes and heating elements are purchased for a specific washing machine model.
There are many reasons why a washing machine fills with water but does not start. Some are easy to fix on your own, others require contacting a professional. To prevent damage, load the recommended amount of laundry and check pockets for small items. In case of voltage surges, it is worth installing a stabilizer. Filters should be cleaned once every six months.

Drain system clogged
Since error E18 indicates problems with removing waste liquid from the drum, it is necessary to check the drain lines. On some machines of older modifications, code D02 is used to display the problem, which is displayed on the screen. If the design of the equipment does not provide a display, then the error is displayed by simultaneously turning on the control LEDs for the spin modes (with a frequency of 600 and 1000 rpm). Refer to the factory operating instructions for details on how the code is displayed.
The initial drain check involves inspecting the sewer pipes installed in the bathroom. A blockage may form in the lines, preventing normal drainage of the liquid. To remove foreign particles, chemicals or a metal cable are used. An error when draining can occur if the elastic sleeve is installed incorrectly. If the hose is installed incorrectly, then the performance of the pump impeller is not enough to remove water. The owner needs to ensure that the drain hose is installed correctly.
If the hose is installed correctly and there are no blockages, then you must:
- Stop the washing process and turn off the power to the equipment.
- Open the hatch located at the base of the machine body, behind which there is a drainage channel.
- Unscrew the plug, install a flat tray around the channel or place hygroscopic rags. Water can be drained in portions by opening and closing the plug.
- Remove the filter cassette and inspect the condition of the element. When dirt and hair fibers adhere, the cross-section of the flow channel may decrease, which leads to a drop in pump performance and the error indicator turns on.
- Inspect the drain hose, which should not have kinks.
- If no damage is found on the filter or hose, then you need to place the Bosch washing machine on its side, and then remove the protective tray with the leakage sensor. Before you begin to remove things from the tank, it is recommended to remove the movable tray for the cleaning agent.
- Find the pump housing that needs to be disconnected from the water lines. The hoses are held in place by spring clamps, which are removed with pliers or special pliers.
- Inspect the pump cavity and tubes for contamination.
- Reassemble to check the functionality of the equipment.
In some machines, the pump is installed in the upper part of the body; to access the unit, the control panel is removed, and then the glass hatch cover and the front panel of the machine are dismantled. When removing electronic and electrical components, inspect the wiring and connecting terminals. The appearance of oxides on the contacts leads to deterioration of conductivity and errors in equipment operation.
Running the diagnostic program
Modern household appliances from famous brands, in particular any new model of the Indesit washing machine, have a built-in self-diagnosis program. In this mode, the control module queries all components and assemblies of the washing machine and displays an error message. This method may not always answer the question of why a failure occurs, but it is worth using.
How to enter this mode is described in detail in the instructions; the procedure directly depends on the manufacturer and brand of the device. For example, in modern Samsung models, to do this you need to hold down the “Rinse” and “Temperature” buttons and turn on the power.
Typically, testing is completed quickly. If problems are detected during operation, an error code will be displayed. All that remains is to decipher it and make a decision on further repairs.
When the cause of error F21 is a malfunction
Almost always the cause of this error is wear on the motor brushes. More rare breakdowns are the control board, motor or tachometer.
Motor brushes - from 1600 rubles*
Over time, the motor brushes wear out, and the washing machine stops spinning the drum: first on the spin cycle, then on any mode. The brush stubs do not make good contact with the commutator, which can cause the machine engine to spark. The washing machine drum may also twitch. To fix the damage, you need to replace the brushes.
Control module - from 2300 rubles*
With such a malfunction, the washing machine drum rotates only in one direction, jerks or does not rotate at all. In the control unit, the following may fail: reverse relay (the drum rotates only in one direction), triacs, resistors and other radio elements in the motor control circuit
Firmware for the control unit - from 1900 rubles*
Firmware is the memory of the module, which contains all the operating algorithms of the washing machine. When it goes wrong, the washing machine behaves unpredictably, including the drum may not spin. To fix the problem, the technician unsolders the memory from the control board, reprograms it on a special device and solders it back.
Motor - from 2300 rubles*
There is a break or short circuit in the rotor or stator windings, so the motor does not work at all or hums, but does not rotate the drum. When shorted, it can knock out the machine in the apartment. The technician checks the windings with a multimeter, and if they are faulty, replaces the motor with a new one.
Tach sensor - from 2300 rubles*
In Bosch washing machines with a commutator motor, the tachometer is mounted on the motor shaft, which is called the rotor. The sensor records the rotation speed of the motor and transmits them to the control module. When it fails, the washing machine “does not understand” at what speed the drum rotates and goes into error F21 or E21.
Wiring or contacts in the engine circuit - from 1800 rubles*
It is necessary to check all the connectors of the cable with wires that connect the motor to the control unit. Perhaps they have oxidized, rotted or burned out. The wiring along its entire length is also checked. Perhaps the cable was rubbed due to vibrations during operation of the Bosch washing machine or it was damaged by rodent pests (mice, rats). In such cases, the technician twists the wires or changes the cable completely. The contacts are cleaned, soldered, or the entire contact group is changed.

Bosch washing machine code F18 - what is it?
Problems with draining (a few minutes after starting the operating cycle, the washing machine stopped without draining water) are indicated by error e18 (in some models f18, D02) displayed on the display of the household appliance.
A Bosch washing machine without a display signals problems with the drainage system by flashing the spin speed indicator (1000 and 600 or 800 and 400).
Error e18 is a signal to urgently stop using the washing machine. The device must be de-energized: press the “Off” button, then unplug the power cord from the socket. Otherwise, there is a high risk of serious leaks and lengthy repairs.
Control module failure
If this element malfunctions, absolutely any error may appear, not just E18. After all, it is he who is responsible for the functioning of the washing machine as a whole.
The Bosch machine control module contains many radio elements. Failure of one of them leads to a stop in the operation of washing equipment. This module is repairable. However, it is not recommended to undertake its repair yourself. It is better to entrust this work to a master. Otherwise, you may permanently break the part. And it has a fairly high cost.
First, let's decipher
The tricky error E26 is caused by a non-obvious failure. The code can be triggered by problems with the main electronic module, a failed intake valve, a broken pressure switch, or a damaged pump. Most often, E26 on Bosch automatic machines informs about problems with the water level sensor. Therefore, it is recommended to start repairs by diagnosing this element.
A win-win option is to take a working pressure switch, install it instead of the existing one in the machine and observe the operation of the machine. If the error code no longer appears, the cause of the failure has been identified. You can try adjusting the level sensor or simply throw out the old one and install a new part.

How to repair a pump
The next step is to check the drain pump of the machine. To do this, you need to release the latches and disconnect it from the cochlea. After dismantling the volute, the impeller - the rotating element of the pump - will be visible. Free rotation of the impeller may be obstructed by hair wrapped around it. All this leads to the pump not functioning.
It should be noted that the problem may not only be a damaged impeller. The electrical part of the drain pump of Bosch equipment may also fail. In any case, a broken part should be replaced with a new one. This work should not be difficult.
Next, to resolve error E18, you need to perform the following steps:
- connect the pump to the snail;
- Using new clamps, connect the pipes to the pump.
- connect the chip with the wiring;
- attach the pump to the body of the washing machine;
- completely assemble the Bosch machine;
- check the functionality of the equipment.
If the drainage system was working properly, then error E18 appears due to problems with other components of the machine. The water may not drain due to a failure of the water level sensor. If it malfunctions, the washing equipment may stop working with a full tank. This element is checked using a multimeter. The pressure switch in Bosch machines is located in the upper right corner of the case. It's not difficult to get to. To do this, remove the top cover. First you need to check the condition of the tube from the sensor
It is also important to check the wiring contacts connected to the pressure switch. Only then can you remove and check the sensor
If this part is faulty, it must be replaced with a new one.
Adviсe
In addition to the low quality of equipment and technical wear and tear of its elements, as well as violation of the rules for using the unit, malfunctions can also be caused by objective factors that directly affect the functioning of household appliances - the quality of water and electricity supply. These are the ones that most often lead to errors.
Any changes in the network have the most unfavorable effect on the operation of the washing machine, leading to its rapid failure - which is why the problem must be eliminated. At the same time, you should not completely rely on the built-in surge protection system inside the most modern machine models - the more often it operates, the faster it will wear out. It is best to get an external voltage stabilizer - this will allow you to save money on equipment repairs in case of problems in the electrical network.
This entails damage to the devices.
To prevent the appearance of limescale, you can use chemical compounds. They will not be able to cope with significant “salt deposits” and will not remove old formations. Such compositions contain a weak concentration of acid, so the equipment should be processed regularly.
Folk remedies act more radically - they clean quickly, reliably and very efficiently. Most often, citric acid is used for this, which can be purchased at any grocery store. To do this, take 2-3 packages of 100 g each and pour them into the powder compartment, then turn on the machine at idle speed. When the work is completed, all that remains is to remove the pieces of fallen scale.
However, manufacturers of household appliances claim that such measures are fraught with the most dangerous consequences for machines and cause damage to their parts. However, as evidenced by the reviews of many users who have been using acid for many years, such assurances are nothing more than anti-advertising.
Which means to use is up to you.
In addition, breakdowns are often the result of human factors. For example, any forgotten metal item in your pockets significantly increases the risk of equipment failure.
In order for a Bosch machine to serve faithfully for many years, it requires regular maintenance. It can be current or capital. The current one is done after each wash, a major one needs to be done every three years.
When carrying out major preventative maintenance, the machine is partially disassembled and the degree of wear of its parts is checked. Timely replacement of old elements can save the machine from downtime, breakdowns and even flooding of the bathroom. These rules apply to all Bosch machines, including the Logixx, Maxx, Classixx series.
How to reset an error on a Bosch washing machine, see below.
Errors that are displayed with a delay, or when a malfunction occurs in two cycles in a row
F20 – Unexpected heating
This malfunction is detected when unplanned heating of the heating element occurs. This may be due to a malfunction of the temperature sensor or heating element relay.
F31 – Maximum water level exceeded
If the water level exceeds, it is necessary to check the water supply and removal systems: water supply valves, pump, pressure switch (pressure sensor), pump, wiring.
F37 - NTC (temperature sensor) faulty
In this case, the water does not heat up and the program ends without it. It is necessary to check the water heating sensor and wiring.
F38 - NTC (temperature sensor) is faulty. Short circuit
In this case, the water does not heat up and the program ends without it. It is necessary to check the water heating sensor and wiring.
F59 - 3D sensor is faulty. The sensor shows a value that is too high or too low
This malfunction indicates an error in the sensor measurement. A sensor can show an incorrect value for many reasons: it could be a signal about a malfunction of the power module or the 3D sensor itself, an error in the washing machine software, or a break in the wiring. A signal for error F59 can be a decreasing speed of the washing machine. It is necessary to check the 3D sensor, magnet position, power module and wiring integrity.
Pump failure
If the malfunction does not disappear, then the next unit to be checked is the electric motor or water pump impeller. To access the unit, you need to partially disassemble the machine body. From the removed pump, the guide casing with fittings for attaching hoses is dismantled. Then the impeller is cleaned from wound dirt or hair, the motor rotor should rotate without effort. When scrolling, you will feel jamming associated with the permanent magnets installed in the stator.
To test the windings, you will need to apply voltage directly to the winding terminals. If the structure is in good condition, the rotor will begin to rotate. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new pump, since electric motors are not supplied as spare parts for washing machines. If the pump is in good condition, then the owner needs to check the functionality of the water level sensor, electronic controller and connecting electrical wiring.

Where did she come from?
What should I do to resolve the detected error? It is necessary to understand what malfunction in the system this symbol indicates. Error F16 on Ariston top-loading washing machines indicates a problem with the drum parking sensor.
There are several options as a result of which the failure occurred:
- The drum doors are not completely closed. Make sure you close the doors tightly when you finish loading your items. When they are closed, a characteristic clicking sound should be heard. If the closure is not tight, the machine will not start working;
- poor connection of contacts. Make sure that the wires in the circuit from the parking sensor up to the control unit are connected tightly. Sometimes, due to the vibrations that the washing machine produces during operation, the tightness of the contacts is disrupted. The solution to the problem will be to restore the wiring;
- one-time malfunction of the control module. Perhaps turning off the SMA from the power supply for 15 minutes will help eliminate the code. After this, start the washing equipment again and select the desired washing program.
Thus, fault F16 in an Ariston washing machine can appear for several reasons. If quick actions do not help, you should undertake a full repair. In some cases, you will have to resort to the help of professional craftsmen.
Hose installed incorrectly
When connecting the drain hose to the sewer pipe, it is very important to position it correctly. If this is done incorrectly, then error F18 may appear on the washing machine screen in the future.
When connecting, it needs to be given a slight bend. Also, it should not be connected to tension.
A hose that is too short can be lengthened or a longer one purchased. It is also important to consider that the load on the pump increases as the length of this element of the drainage system increases. And, as you know, the higher the load on an element, the shorter its working life.
The hose should be connected at a height of no more than 100 centimeters from the legs of the washing machine. It is best to place the connection point at a height of 40-60 centimeters.
Error f01 in a Bosch washing machine - how to reset - Cold +
What to do if the Bosch washing machine displays error code F01? In this case, the machine door does not close or is not blocked, and the washing does not start.
In electromechanical Bosch SM models without a screen, fault code F 01 is displayed on the indicators: the “Lock” light is on or blinking.
What does it mean? Let's figure it out.
Reasons for the error and its meaning
What does error code F01 mean on Bosch washing machines: there is a problem with the hatch door. If the door is not locked, the wash will not start.
To understand how to fix the problem, you need to understand the reasons for the occurrence of error F01.
Sunroof problems can be divided into two classes:
- Failure of mechanical elements. If the latch on the door breaks or wears out, you will not hear a characteristic click when closing. Also, the hatch may not close at all.
- Problems with electronics. If the door closes as usual, but the electronic lock does not block it, the UBL may have broken down. CM Bosch does not start the wash and displays error F01.
Read on to find out how to fix the problem and solve the problem.
Symptoms and repair of a malfunction
Before you begin the repair, check: perhaps a piece of clothing is preventing the hatch from closing properly, or the hole for the latch is clogged.
If everything is in order, and the Bosch washing machine shows error F01 on the display, continue your search.
Mechanical problems
The hatch handle is broken. Over time, the pen may become unusable, especially if it consists of plastic parts. The part cannot be repaired, so you need to replace:
- Remove the Bosch washing machine door by unscrewing the two fastening screws.
- Unscrew the screws securing the hatch parts to divide them into two parts and remove the mechanism.
- Press the latches along the edges and separate the halves.
- Remove the top half and glass.
- Remove the pin that holds the mechanism together and take it apart.
- First, reinstall the spring.
- Now, having positioned the latch, hold it while pushing the pin parallel (not all the way).
- Place the handle onto the latch and push the pin all the way through, connecting all parts of the device.
- Place the glass under the handle, with the cut line down.
- Reinstall the outer door while pressing the latches. Then install it on the Bosch washing machine. This video will help you with this:
How to fix and what to do if a Bosch washing machine displays error E18
To eliminate error E18 on a Bosch washing machine, you need to disconnect the unit from the power supply and conduct a thorough inspection of the internal parts. Usually repairs come down to eliminating blockages.
How to clean the drain system of a Bosch washing machine
To remove blockages from the drain system, you need to not only turn off the power to the washing device, but also turn off the water in advance using a special valve. The further algorithm of actions looks like this:
- On the front panel of the washing machine, in the lower part on the right, a small hatch is opened, which is held in place by plastic latches.
- The floor is covered with a large rag or thick towel; if possible, a low but wide ditch is placed to collect water.
- Using gentle counterclockwise movements, unscrew the drain filter from the slot of the machine and allow the remaining liquid to drain out.
- Carefully inspect the element and clean it of any clogged threads, hair, wool and other small debris.
- Rinse the filter of the machine under the tap and dry it at room temperature, and then put it back into the slot.
Most often, cleaning the part helps eliminate error E18. But sometimes the method doesn't work. In such cases, it is recommended to check the drain hose of the unit, attached to the rear panel and connecting the Bosch machine to the sewer.
It is recommended to clean the drain filter every six months as a preventative measure.
When the water supply is shut off, the hose is carefully dismantled and then washed under the tap in the bathroom or kitchen to remove blockages and dense deposits on the walls. Place the clean hose back and try to put the Bosch machine back into operation.
How to repair a pump in a Bosch washing machine
Error E18 in the Bosch serie 6 washing machine and other models may be caused by a pump malfunction. Repairs are carried out according to the following algorithm:
- The technical hatch door is disconnected from the body and the powder receptacle is removed, and then the screws located under it are dismantled.
- Unscrew the screws holding the dashboard of the car and carefully remove the part.
- Open the hatch for loading laundry, loosen and remove the outer clamp on the cuff, and the edges of the latter are tucked into the drum so as not to remove it completely.
- Remove all fasteners holding the front panel and disconnect the front wall.
- Disconnect the pipes and wires from the pump, located at the bottom of the Bosch unit under the drum, and then unscrew the fastening bolt and pull the part out of the socket.
- Inspect the pump impeller - if there are threads and hair on it that impede rotation, they must be carefully removed.
If the blades still rotate slowly and forcefully, you can remove the screws directly in the pump body and disassemble it into pieces to remove dirt from the inside. After the work has been completed, the pump and machine are reassembled in the reverse order and a test run is performed to see if the E18 error has gone away.
In some Bosch models, drain pumps are non-separable and are not suitable for cleaning and repair
A pump malfunction can consist not only of a blockage, but also the appearance of physical defects - cracks and chips on the impeller. In such cases, the blades will rotate too freely. It is impossible to repair a broken part that causes error E18; it is easier to buy a new pump for the machine and install it instead of the old one.
Decoding
The washing machine program allocates a strictly defined time for each operation (cycle). Error Bosch e18 (or D02, F18) informs the user that dirty water is not draining from the tank or is being drained slowly. The level sensor does not receive a signal indicating the end of the process, the 18th code is generated, and Bosch operation is blocked.

What to do
The recommendation for errors in household appliances, regardless of purpose or symbology, is standard: reboot the circuit. Our power grids throw up such “surprises” (low voltage, surges, sudden shutdowns, interference) that the electronics of imported equipment, even Russian-assembled ones, are not designed for. If the Bosch e18 error is caused by a one-time glitch, it will be removed.

Methodology
- De-energize the Bosch SMA by unplugging the power cord from the outlet.
- Wait 15 minutes.
- Turn the washing machine back on and drain.
It does not help to remove the Bosch e18 error - look for the cause of the problem.

Check what
Drain hose
A common cause of error e18. It’s easy to fix, no professional services required.
- Inspect, remove kinks, and, if necessary, rinse under pressure. Over time, dirt adheres to the inner walls, the diameter decreases, and the speed of fluid flow decreases. During the time allotted by the program, the drainage from the tank is not completed, the level sensor does not respond, and the Bosch control unit displays error e18.
- Check that the hose position complies with the manufacturer's recommendations. If the hose is too high in relation to the drain pipe of the washing machine, difficulties will arise in draining water into the sewer; Bosch will display error e18. Happens during unprofessional connection of the SMA and initial start-up.

Sewerage condition
A blockage (“plug”) in the pipe is the cause of error e18 in the washing machine. By opening the faucet valve, it is easy to see whether water is leaving the sink or standing in the bowl. The SMA is often connected to a siphon under the kitchen sink, and irregular cleaning of it leads to slow drainage or blockage of the channel. For another method of connecting Bosch to the sewer, pull out the hose and lower the end into the toilet or bucket. If water starts leaking from the washing machine tank, error e18 will be cleared; the cause has been found - a blockage in the pipe.

Bosch washing machine drain filter
The accumulation of “garbage” makes it difficult to drain the liquid and blocks the channel. Failure to follow the Bosch manufacturer's recommendations on the frequency of filter maintenance is the cause of error e18.

You need to clean it every 2 months of active use of the machine, and if you frequently wash woolen items, once every 3-4 weeks. If fur and similar products are placed in the centrifuge - at the end of the process.

Methodology
- Before removing the filter, disconnect the SMA from the outlet and close the cold water supply valve.
- Remove the cover by carefully prying off the panel with a screwdriver or knife.
Open the lid of a Bosch washing machine
- If the washing machine has an emergency drain hose, pull it out, lower the end into the bath and remove the water.
- A little liquid will remain, so place a rag on the floor or place a tray under the filter installation site (about 0.3 ml will flow out when removed).
Drain the water from the Bosch washing machine hose
- The element is removed from the socket gradually: turn ¼ turn - pause. After the dirty water has drained, the filter is pulled out. In a number of Bosch models, draining occurs when the plug installed in front of the cleaning device is unscrewed.
Remove the Bosch washing machine filter
Mechanically remove debris, scale, rinse, and error e18 will be removed. It is not recommended to use “chemicals” or hot water to avoid deformation of the plastic housing and sealing rings.

Clean the Bosch washing machine filter
- Inspect the hole for the Bosch drain filter, clean the walls and threads of debris.
- When installing, do not overtighten. The filter should fit into place tightly, evenly, without distortions.
All that remains is to start the washing machine, make sure there are no leaks, error e18 has disappeared.

Level sensor
Installed at the bottom of the washing machine, on the right side. The pressure switch controls the water level in the tank, sending a signal to the control unit about the degree of filling of the tank.

Bosch washing machine level sensor
The sealed housing has a spring-loaded membrane. Controls contacts that make or break an electrical circuit. A flexible tube is attached to the inlet pipe of the Bosch sensor, the end of which is in the tank of the washing machine. When water enters/leaves, the air pressure on the rubber goods rises/falls; due to its mobility, the membrane moves, and the state of the contact group changes along with it. If the pressure switch is faulty, the control unit of the washing machine does not receive a signal about the liquid level, the electronics do not give commands to the actuators, and the program stops.
p, blockquote 16,0,0,0,0 —>
The level sensor is the first Bosch component (device) from which you should look for the cause of error e18. It will take a few minutes to access the pressure switch (under the top panel, on the side) and test. If you have a tube with the diameter of a capillary at hand, it is not necessary to remove the device from the washing machine.
p, blockquote 17,0,0,0,0 —>
Methodology
- Inspect the plastic. Error Bosch e18 is the result of damage to the tube, kinks, or debris in the cavity. Replace, blow out, and the fault code will be cleared.
- Check the integrity and condition of the signal lines. Short circuits, melting of insulation, breaks cause error e18.
- Clean the sensor contacts. The washing machine operates in damp conditions, and metal oxidation is inevitable.
- Discard the signal cables and tube. Attach the multimeter probes to the contacts, and pinch the end of the installed capillary “understudy” with your lips.
Bosch washing machine pressure switch
If the pressure switch is working normally, inhalations/exhalations are accompanied by soft clicks, the resistance changes from 0 to ∞ (the signal circuit is closed - open).

A faulty sensor cannot be restored (non-removable) and must be replaced. It is useless to try to revive it using the advice of “experienced” people - there are no spare parts for the device in retail sale, and it will not be possible to properly connect the halves of the case.
p, blockquote 19,0,0,0,0 —>
The volume of water poured into the washing machine tank depends on the mode (washing, rinsing, economical, etc.) and is determined by the program. The pressure switches are adjusted at the factory, and you cannot turn the adjusting screws on the device body!
Expert opinion
Replacing the sensor will not cause any difficulties. The main thing is to buy a product of the same name and type.

pump
Checking the functionality of the device is carried out in several stages. The mechanical and electrical parts of the pump are tested.
p, blockquote 22,0,0,1,0 —>
First
Using a flashlight, inspect the drain filter installation slot. A common cause of the Bosch e18 error is a clogged adapter sleeve attached to the pump nozzle. If there is no debris, the impeller is clearly visible and no mechanical cleaning is required.
p, blockquote 23,0,0,0,0 —>
To accurately diagnose the condition of the pump, it is recommended to remove the pump and carry out preventive maintenance: clean the volute, impeller of fibers, threads, salt deposits, lubricate the mechanics (graphite compound or lithol).
p, blockquote 24,0,0,0,0 —> Replacing the pump in a Bosch washing machine
For Bosch with a sump, you need to take into account that it has a leakage sensor installed. The removal is carried out carefully, by moving it to the side, after which the signal lines of the device are disconnected.
p, blockquote 25,0,0,0,0 —>
Second
- Place the washing machine on its side, fold the cables away from the pump (or SMA block), and connect the wires to the electrical terminals (terminal block contacts).
- Place the Bosch in working position and pour some water into the tank.
- Apply to pump
Third
Winding diagnostics. Error e18 Bosch appears if the pump motor has failed. Regardless of the SMA model, the winding resistance is 200±50 Ohms. In case of a break, the multimeter will show R=∞, in case of a short circuit R=0. If the value of R deviates greatly from the specified value (200), error e18 is caused by an interturn short circuit.

Checking the Bosch washing machine pump with a multimeter
It is not advisable to send the pump to a workshop for rewinding - it is more profitable to put a working pump in the washing machine.

The electronic unit
Washing machine errors are generated by the control board. If other causes of code 18 are not identified, the electronic control system should be tested. It is carried out in a workshop, on a stand simulating the work of an SMA. It is not recommended to “tinker” with the circuit yourself - almost 80% of ruined modules are the result of unprofessional intervention in the Bosch circuit. And given that the blocks differ in design in different models, it is not worth following advice from the Internet and numerous “experts”. All the user has to do is perform a visual diagnosis.

What to pay attention to
- Both sides of the assembly are subject to inspection, so the board is removed from the washing machine.
- The causes of the Bosch e18 error are short circuits in the electrical circuits of the circuit. Dust, dirt, white stains, condensation from the surface of the panel are removed with a damp swab dipped in an alcohol-containing liquid or aviation gasoline. Do not use solvents for cleaning!
- Traces of exposure to high temperature. If the “burn” does not affect the parts, does not cause deformation of the board or other damage, clean off the carbon deposits with a sharp blade, rinse, and dry. In some cases, error e18 of the washing machine can be removed.
- Conductive tracks. A magnifying glass will help identify the problem area. The microcrack is removed with a soldering iron with a thin tip and soft solder, carefully so as not to overheat. If there is difficulty due to a dense arrangement, it is advisable to bridge the break point: solder the ends of the mounting wire so that a parallel signal line is formed.
- Damaged radio components: melted, cracked housings, unreliable contacts with the board - each of the defects can lead to an error in the washing machine.
- Electrolytic capacitors. You can determine an unusable container without a device, by its appearance. The sign is an inflated cylinder of the barrel body. Replace it and the Bosch error will go away.
A complete diagnosis of the Bosch “brain” is the prerogative of a professional. It is not recommended to do anything beyond what is specified. Checking the unit on a stand and eliminating the malfunction will cost an order of magnitude cheaper than purchasing a new unit. And this is a lot of money!
