Modern science and technology go hand in hand, constantly improving. Just recently, no one would have thought that self-diagnosis systems would be able to display error codes on displays for dishwashers from Electrolux, Zanussi, AEG and other well-known manufacturers. And now service center technicians and ordinary users can understand by the blinking of LEDs or the information code displayed on the display what malfunction has occurred in the dishwasher (hereinafter also referred to as PMM, dishwasher).
When a specialist goes to repair a dishwasher and knows its error code, he immediately takes the necessary spare parts with him
A decoding of the alphanumeric combinations appearing on the displays is in the instructions attached to each PMM. Therefore, many operational problems can be eliminated independently. In more complex situations, it is better to call a specialist for repairs at home. Below are the coded fault signals and their interpretation.

Electrolux dishwashers
The Swedish company Electrolux is deservedly considered one of the leaders in the household appliances market. Dishwashers with the company's brand name are in great demand due to their reliability, ease of use and stylish design.
The company does not stop working on improving dishwasher models, increasing their reliability, and developing innovative solutions.
An example of increased reliability is the use of the AquaControl function, which protects the machine from leaks and from overflowing with water. At her commands, the water supply is stopped and it is drained into the sewer.
In any case, even very reliable equipment wears out, which means failures occur. In addition, users do not always follow the manufacturer's recommendations, which also ends in failure.
To increase reliability and simplify repairs, dishwashers of this brand use a self-monitoring function. Even for an ordinary user, it is not particularly difficult to analyze the cause of a breakdown using error codes, which means quickly restoring the machine’s functionality.
When an error occurs, first of all, the machine reboots in this way: it is disconnected from the power supply for 15 minutes, and then turned on. If the error does not disappear after switching on, in all likelihood, you need to search for the problem using the codes.
The main causes of failure of the Electrolux PMM
There are typical problems that are specific to Electrolux brand models. Their appearance, as in other dishwashers, is influenced by several factors:
- Incorrect operation of the device. Chamber overload, food residues on surfaces, lack of filter cleaning.
- Use of low-quality detergents.
- Power outages. Surges cause electronics to burn out.
- A large number of impurities in the water. When heated, potassium and magnesium salts settle on the heating element and other parts.
- Factory defect, poor quality assembly.
Few people complain about the workmanship. Almost all Electrolux models entering our market are assembled in factories in Poland. But the duration of operation is influenced by the factors mentioned above.
Where to start diagnostics
The initial steps for diagnosing dishwashers are identical and do not depend on whether your dishwasher is Bosch, Beko or Hansa, Ariston or Siemens, Electrolux or any other. The device's power supply problems are identical in all cases. You need to start self-diagnosis by checking the integrity of the power cord and its correct connection. To do this, you need to connect the power cord to the machine and turn on the dishwasher.
If the machine does not respond to commands from the control unit, then you should check the presence of electricity in the network. This problem is especially acute in old houses with Soviet electrical wiring. The fact is that it was designed many years ago, when apartments did not have such a need for power supply. Often the wiring cannot withstand and at some stage burns out. Then the voltage in the network disappears and the machine will not work.
Before turning on the dishwasher, check the voltage at the outlet. To check the presence of voltage in the outlet, use a multimeter or simply connect a table lamp to the outlet, first checking its functionality.
Case from practice
In practice, it may happen that both the multimeter and the test lamp indicate the presence of voltage in the network. But when connecting a Bosch dishwasher, it doesn’t work or works somehow strangely. The reason turned out to be in a completely unexpected place. As it turned out, when installing the wiring in this place, the electricians were negligent and connected the wires under the plaster. Over time, the junction oxidized and the conductivity deteriorated greatly. At low load, the voltage in the network was observed, but when connecting a powerful device, the voltage immediately dropped significantly.
Because of this, the socket could not provide the power required for the machine and the machine did not work. Resolving this error resolved the problem.
We continue diagnostics
Therefore, when diagnosing a malfunction, it is a good idea to check not only the presence of voltage in the network, but also the quality of the power supply. This is done simply. You need to connect a powerful device to the outlet (preferably a fireplace or electric stove). And measure the voltage at the outlet. If it drops by no more than 5 - 6 volts, then the power quality is good. If the drop is greater, then the wiring needs to be repaired.
In general, manufacturers of dishwashers “Hansa”, “Beko” and others cite several probable reasons for dishwashers not working:
The dishwasher, having detected errors during self-diagnosis, may not allow the dishwasher program to start. This often happens when a heating element fails. But at the same time, the machine should turn on and display an error code on the display.
Electrolux dishwasher fault codes
According to service centers, more than 40% of problems with the Electrolux PMM occur in the drainage and intake of water. Often such problems arise due to improper operation of equipment. Testing your dishwasher yourself helps you understand where to look for a breakdown.
If the error code appears on the screen for the first time, try to solve the problem by rebooting. Cars without a display indicate a problem by flashing the indicator. If this is a system failure, which often happens during a sudden power outage, the code will disappear from the display.
What are the problems with power cords?
The power cord itself, if you follow the rules of its operation, will not break. This is an ordinary cable and there is nothing to break in it. But if you are careless about its storage and transportation, and if the cord is not used for its intended purpose, then it may well deteriorate.
Most often, the power cord breaks when transporting the dishwasher.
Users will either weigh down the cord or use it as a securing device during transportation. As a result, the copper cores of the cord are damaged and the cord fails. In such cases, a more dangerous phenomenon may occur - overheating and burnout of the cord. This, in turn, can cause a fire.
If a problem is detected with the cable, it must be replaced. It cannot be repaired.
The integrity of the cable is checked by reading its actual resistance. A multimeter is used for this. If the resistance is high, the cable is rejected and sent as scrap.
Table with error codes: Electrolux dishwashers

iF0 | Water fill time error | 14 blinking | The time limit for filling with water has been exceeded. The program runs until the next subprogram if the water level is insufficient. There is no further filling of water to the required level. The error disappears after the drain is completed. |
Errors in electrical stuffing
These are the most difficult faults to diagnose in Electrolux dishwashers.
- Error code i50 Five blinks of the end indicator indicating a triac failure. This part is responsible for controlling the circulation pump. First the problem forces it to work at its maximum capacity, and then the work stops. This error can be eliminated only after replacing the triac.
- Error code i70 Seven blinks - the thermistor in the heating element is broken. This results in washing dishes with cold water. Installing a new thermistor will correct this situation.
- Error code i80 Eight flashes - a problem in the memory of the control module. The problem can be solved by flashing the module or replacing it with a new one.
- Error code i90 Flashing nine times - critical failure in the MCF or CCF checksum system. The situation is accompanied by blocking of all washing modes and the glow of the power indicator. The problem is resolved after replacing the module with a new one.
- Error code i A0 Flashing ten times - stopping the rotating rocker arms. As a rule, it is caused by jamming after power surges. The problem may also be caused by incorrect placement of the dishes.
- Error code iB0. Flashing ten times - the indicator indicating the transparency of the liquid is most likely broken. A malfunction is caused if there is no response from the sensor within 15 - 40 seconds.
Above are the most common signals about problems that may occur. The ability to decipher them is necessary to provide timely repairs and simplify diagnostic procedures. Most of these breakdowns can be fixed on your own, but calling a specialist will never be a bad idea.
How to repair a dishwasher
We will not consider all cases of PMM malfunctions - there may be dozens of them. Let's figure out how to fix these typical failures yourself:
- clogged drain or fill system;
- problems with water heating;
- failure to complete a given program;
- poor quality of washing.
The drain or fill path is clogged
This breakdown can be classified as systemic, since it is typical not only for Electrolux machines.
The degree to which pipes, hoses and filters are filled with debris depends on the quality of the water supplied from the water supply. The worse the water, the faster blockages occur. If there are too many minerals in your water supply, they will quickly build up on the inside of the filter, causing it to suddenly clog.
In this case, repairing the car will not be difficult, even if you decide to do it yourself.
Important! To avoid a recurrence of this breakdown, do not forget to remove the filter from time to time and clean it from deposits.
If the water is too hard, treat the machine as carefully as possible: check all elements of the filling system - filters, pipes and hose. You need to do it like this:
- shut off the flow of water into the system by closing the tee valve;
- unscrew the water intake hose together with the filter* from the tee tap and from the PMM body;
- take out a small flow filter (located at the point where the hose is twisted with the equipment body);
Overview of the most common faults
In general, dishwashers from the Swedish brand are deservedly considered to be of high quality. Typically, Polish-assembled products are cheaper and break down more often. However, it is noted that Electrolux machines are distinguished by a durable body and a reliable circulation pump. Parts such as filters, gaskets, wiring terminals and other little things are traditionally made at a high level and rarely cause trouble.
Typical breakdowns of this equipment usually include the following malfunctions:
- clogging of drainage and water supply elements;
- improper heating of water during the specified wash cycle;
- failure when executing the selected program, etc.
Very often, the causes of such malfunctions are violations of recommendations for using the device. If problems begin soon after the start of operation or occur too often, you need to check for such violations.
To prevent the Electrolux machine from breaking down, you need to use it correctly: arrange the dishes well, use high-quality detergents, and clean the filters in a timely manner.
In addition, it doesn’t hurt to make sure that the dishwasher is installed correctly and connected to the sewer and water supply without any problems. The intricacies of installing and connecting a dishwasher are discussed in our other article.
Reason #1 - clogged drain/water supply
Poor quality of tap water is a common problem in many regions. Increased hardness, the presence of mineral inclusions and contaminants have a sad effect on the condition of household appliances, and dishwashers are no exception. For this reason, a filter must be installed before water enters the device.
It needs to be regularly washed, cleaned, and replaced in a timely manner. If damage has developed in it over time, you should not ignore it; you must immediately install a new filter. Otherwise, all contaminants will enter the dishwasher mechanism. Do not think that cleaning with chemicals will eliminate this effect. A reliable filter is essential.
The drain filter in this technique must be constantly cleaned; it can easily become clogged with food debris and other contaminants.
To clean it, you need to follow these simple steps:
- disconnect the device from the water supply using the shut-off valve;
- find the inlet hose with a filter from the dishwasher pipe, as well as from the tap;
- remove filters;
- rinse the filters and pipe to remove accumulated contaminants;
- install all elements in place and reassemble.
If there is too much dirt, use a brush to clean it. Some owners believe that they can get by with just one drain filter, but practice shows that an additional filter in front of the supply hose will never be superfluous.
In addition, you should periodically carry out preventative cleaning of the dishwasher drain. To do this, you also need to use high quality products recommended by the manufacturer. Cleaning is done only with this product; there is no need to add other chemicals, rinse aid or salt to the dishwasher, and, of course, there should be no dishes there.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the features of cleaning a dishwasher at home.
Replacing the heating element of a dishwasher is a relatively simple operation if the technician has at his disposal a new, working element with the appropriate characteristics
To prevent breakdowns, you must strictly follow the operating instructions.
Here are the basic recommendations for using Electrolux dishwashers:
- Before placing items in baskets, they should be cleared of food residues;
- Only high quality products should be used for washing;
- do not exceed or underestimate the amount of chemicals required for the machine;
- you need to ensure that there is a sufficient amount of salt in the appropriate container;
- Regularly check the condition of all filters and clean them promptly.
More detailed recommendations for using dishwashers are given in the following material.
Reason #2 - problems with the water heating device
If there are problems with heating the water during the cycle, most likely a malfunction of the heating element, sensors, or incorrect operation of the control unit is to blame. The weak point of many Western models of household appliances is their high sensitivity to sudden changes in network voltage. Such surges can damage the control board triac; this element will have to be replaced.
To correct the situation, you need to disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply, water supply and sewerage. The built-in machine will have to be completely dismantled. After this, using a tester, you need to check the serviceability of the heating element, as well as all electrical circuits. If you are unable to determine the fault yourself, you will have to contact a service center that has the appropriate diagnostic equipment.
To reflash or replace the dishwasher control board, you need to contact a service center; doing it on your own in this case can cause a lot of harm.
It is not difficult to prevent such a sad situation; just install a voltage stabilizer. The cost of additional equipment will pay off, because replacing the control board will cost much more.
Reason #3 - problems with the command apparatus
With regard to the electronics of the dishwasher, unprofessional intervention can lead to the fact that the situation will only worsen, and you will have to buy a new dishwasher.
A failure of the control module can also result in periodic freezing of the machine during the washing cycle. To correct the situation, you just need to turn off and then turn on the device again. If such a malfunction occurs rarely, there is no need to worry. But when the car has to be restarted over and over again, this most likely indicates a manufacturing defect.
To drain the water that has accumulated inside the dishwasher chamber, you will have to turn it over. After this, you need to restore the normal position of the sensors
Such a malfunction will have to be repaired by a service center after detailed diagnostics. This is the most expensive type of repair; in some cases, its cost can be comparable to the price of a budget dishwasher. But it also happens that diagnostics reveals a malfunction of a sensor; replacing it will cost much less.
You shouldn’t put off calling a technician “for later” if the car constantly freezes, so as not to worsen the situation. If the owner has experience in repairing home appliances, replacing a sensor or heating element will not cause big problems. Another problem typical of Electrolux dishwashers is deterioration in the quality of washing.
If the water stops heating or is heating too slowly, you need to check the condition of the heating element; most likely, it needs cleaning or replacement
This can occur either due to the fact that the water supply to the chamber is not fully supplied, or as a result of improper supply of detergents. You need to carefully inspect the camera after each wash. If the tablet has not completely dissolved, there is detergent or rinse aid left in the container, all these are signs of problems.
First you need to check whether there is water in the water supply system and whether it has sufficient pressure. Then you should check the condition of the filters and supply hose. If dirt has accumulated there, it will cause poor water flow and problems with washing quality. It is enough to wash it all out for the situation to return to normal. The filters may need to be replaced.
To get to the control board, you need to remove the top cover of the control unit, unclip the latches and disconnect the chips that connect the unit to the machine
Another source of trouble is a faulty valve in detergent containers. Finally, you need to ensure that supplies are loaded and used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Limescale deposits accumulated inside the sink and on the surface of the heating element can cause many of the listed breakdowns.
Regular maintenance of the device will avoid costly repairs. The following recipe may be useful: add 250 ml of table vinegar to the detergent container, start the Economy mode, stop the procedure in the middle of the cycle for one hour, then continue washing. This cleaning should be done two to three times a month. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the five best dishwasher cleaners.
Problems with fluid flow or drainage
The most common breakdowns for dishwashers of any model and brand are those that occur in the water intake and drainage system. In 40% of cases, they occur due to an incorrect connection to the house's drainage system or water supply pipe. Violation of direct operating instructions can also cause critical malfunctions.
Error code i 10
This signal is also given by a one-time blinking of the end indicator with a delay of five seconds. The device thus reports that there is no water in the tank of the device. If after one minute the container remains empty or not completely filled, this may mean the following:
- closed liquid supply valve;
- pinched or kinked water hose;
- Serious blockage of the hose filter.
All these problems can be fixed at home without the involvement of specialists.
The main thing is not to confuse the number 1 and the English letter i, sometimes they are practically no different when displayed on the screen.
Hose with filler filter
Error code i 20
Two flashes on models without a screen. Makes it clear that the dishwasher refuses to drain water. If after some time the dishwasher still has not drained the dirty liquid and the i 20 symbol appears, the cleaning filter is most likely clogged. The drain pump could also become unusable, the drain hose could become bent, or the liquid level sensor could fail.
As a rule, to get rid of the i20 error, simply cleaning the filtration mechanism clogged with food debris, hard bones, and dishes particles is enough.
Error code i 30
Also looks like three blinks of the end indicator. As a rule, it indicates that the leakage protection system has been activated. Specifically, this code is triggered when a certain amount of liquid enters the pan. After this, the float turns on, which activates the Aquastop system and opens its valve, which prevents the water flow.
To fix this type of problem, simply remove the liquid from the pan and then replace the water hose with a new one. After this, move the float to its normal position by tilting the dishwasher.
Error code i 60
Six blinks of the end indicator. Indicates that there is no heating of the liquid inside the dishwasher. Also, in this way, excessive heating of water and a significant excess of the required temperature are marked. The reasons for this phenomenon may be hidden in the following:
- the heating element is burnt out;
- faulty electrical wiring;
- problems with the temperature sensor;
- insufficient fluid volume;
- a failed circulation pump or control board.
Circulation pump
Experts say that of the problems described above, the first three are the most common. Replacing a sensor usually does not cause any particular difficulties if you have at least basic skills in working with equipment. But diagnosing a board failure or wiring fault is much more difficult.
In most cases, you will have to contact a specialist.
Error code iF01
In the absence of a screen, it looks like fourteen blinks of the end indicator. Occurs when the time period for collecting fluid is exceeded. In other words, this signal comes when the dishwasher is overfilled with excess water. The device can fix this problem on its own. The washing process will continue using the normal volume of water, and excess liquid will be removed along with the waste.
Sprinkler blocked (code iA0 or 10 flashes)
After each switch on or opening of the door, the Electrolux dishwasher checks the free rotation of the spray arm. If it is blocked, you need to correctly distribute the dishes inside the washing chamber so that the spray arm can rotate without interference.
For other codes and solutions, see the instructions.
As you can understand from all of the above, many types of repairs for Electrolux dishwashers are also available for DIY. A person with sufficient knowledge of technology and experience working with it is quite capable of fixing most problems with his own hands.
Poor wash quality
Machines of this brand quite often have problems with the flow of water or the supply of detergents. In order not to bring Electrolux dishwashers to urgent, expensive repairs, you must immediately diagnose the problem: there is a tablet left, the powder has not dissolved, which means there is a problem with the supply of detergents or water.
Elimination methods:
- we check the presence of water in the home water supply system;
- look to see if the inlet hose and strainers are clogged;
- We examine the serviceability of the detergent supply valve;
- We analyze the correct loading of detergents.
After eliminating all the listed shortcomings, the quality of dishwashing should be excellent.
Another piece of advice: don’t be lazy to carry out various preventive maintenance work. At least 3 times a month, add 250 g of table vinegar, turn on the Economy mode, pause in the middle of the cycle and leave the machine in this state for an hour. During this time, the resulting limescale will dissolve completely and without a trace.
Errors with water heating
Error i60 or the indicator blinks six times. This means that a violation has occurred in the heating system. Electrolux dishwasher does not heat water at all or overheats.
There may be several reasons:
- heating elements (heating elements) burned out;
- damage in electrical wiring;
- malfunction of the temperature sensor (thermostat);
- lack of water to the required level, malfunction of the level sensor;
- malfunctions in the circulation pump or control board.
Remedy:
- The serviceability of heaters and electrical wiring (insulation resistance, contacts) is checked. If necessary, heating elements are replaced;
- The thermostat is diagnosed;
- the functionality of the circulation pump is checked;
- the state of the control circuit is assessed.
To identify the listed faults and eliminate them, it is better to involve a specialist. Incompetent intervention in these systems can only harm the Electrolux dishwasher.
Error i70 or the indicator blinks seven times. Error in the heating control system. Most often this happens due to a malfunction of the heating element thermistor. The cause may be a short circuit in the electrical circuit or damage to the thermistor itself.
It is better to carry out diagnostics and repairs at a service center.
Fault coding and interpretation
The table shows combinations that readers may encounter while operating Electrolux and Zanussi PMMs. In most models that do not have a display, failure is determined by the number of blinks of the End indicator. A series of flashes occurs at a frequency of 2 Hz, followed by pauses between series of 5 seconds. The error codes listed below are valid for modern Electrolux and Zanussi PMM models with EDW 1003/1100/1500/1503/1510/2500 control systems.
Number of indicator flashes
For a certain time, a sufficient volume of water from the water supply does not collect into the tank or it does not enter the dishwasher at all
After a certain time, the liquid from the tank is not completely drained by the pump into the sewer system or is not removed at all, that is, the water level sensor (pressostat) does not receive a signal about the empty tank
The Aquastop protection system sensor sends a signal that water has appeared in the dishwasher tray. This means there is a fluid leak.
The triac located on the control unit board (hereinafter also referred to as the ECU) has failed, resulting in the control of the circulation pump (pump) being disrupted.
The water does not heat up or overheats. There may be several reasons: the electric heater (hereinafter also referred to as the heating element) burned out, there was a break in the electrical wiring circuit going to the heating element, the temperature sensor (thermistor) is faulty, there is too little water in the PMM tank. The circulation pump may have stopped working or the ECU may be faulty
The thermistor is faulty; its resistance during diagnostics does not correspond to normal limits
Failure in the program stored in the memory of the control unit. The EEPROM memory chip may have failed
The PMM control unit does not work, as a result of which it is impossible to select and launch any of the work programs
The sprayer rocker arms are blocked and do not rotate. Possible reasons: the dishes were not stacked correctly or there was a power surge that led to a blockage
The water turbidity sensor has failed. The control unit constantly receives information that the dishes have not been washed
The computer does not respond to signals from the control panel. Maybe there is no connection with the control unit board or the unit itself is faulty
When the circulation pump is turned on, the tachogenerator does not send signals about rotor rotation for a certain time. Possible reasons: the pump really does not work, there is a break in the tachometer circuit or the tachogenerator is faulty
During a specified period of time, a sufficient volume of water has not filled into the dishwasher tank and the unit proceeds to the next stage of operation. After draining the liquid, the error code disappears. Symptoms of the malfunction are similar to defects corresponding to code i10
If there is no display, the error code is calculated by a series of flashes of the END indicator
Be careful when recognizing the number 1 and the letter i on the display: the unit is longer.
Intake and drainage errors
These are the most common errors. They can occur in any Electrolux dishwashers. Most often they arise for two reasons: if, when installing the machine, it was incorrectly connected to the water supply or sewerage system or the operating rules were violated.
Error i30 or the indicator blinks three times. This code notifies you when a leak occurs. Often this breakdown occurs when water gets into the pan. At the same time, the Aqua-stop float system is activated and the water supply shutoff valve is activated. Water may get into the tray if the seal of the Electrolux dishwasher is broken.
Recommendations for elimination:
- drain the water from the pan;
- Check the drain pump for leaks. If this is the reason, then you should call a technician to replace it;
- check the storage tank, hoses and connections, seals and cuffs, as well as the doors, tray, pipes and hopper for leaks;
- Set the float to the “water” position and start the dishwasher.
Error iF0 or indicator blinking 14 times. This means that the filling mode exceeds the set time.
Causes:
- there was a displacement of the dishes in the loading chamber, which led to a lack of water;
- the intake filter is clogged;
- too much foam has formed from the detergent;
- malfunction of the pressure switch or its circuit.
Solutions:
- stop the dishwasher and organize the dishes in the loading chamber;
- remove and clean the filler filter;
- replace detergent with less intensive foam formation;
- Check the pressure switch and its electrical circuit.

The video will tell you about the repair of the Electrolux ESF 45030 PMM control unit (the machine does not heat the water, error code i60 appears):
About the author:

History knows the fact that a kitten fell into the drum of a washing machine and, after going through a full wash cycle on the “Wool” program, got out of the unit unharmed. The only trouble for the pet was an allergy to washing powder.
The expression “soap opera” (“soap”) did not arise by chance. The very first series and shows that had a female audience were broadcast on television at a time when housewives did cleaning, ironing and laundry. In addition, to attract female viewers to the screens, commercials for detergents: soaps and powders were often played on air.
Washing machines have something to do with the origin of the expression “money laundering.” In the 1930s, American gangsters used a network of laundries as a cover for their illegal activities. By passing off the proceeds of crime as proceeds from cleaning clothes, they turned “dirty” money into “clean” money.
There is a washing machine “for bachelors”. Linen washed in such a unit does not need to be ironed at all! The thing is that the device does not have a drum: some things can be placed inside the container directly on hangers (for example, jackets and shirts), and smaller things (for example, underwear and socks) can be placed on special shelves.
For washing small items on the road or in a hotel, it is convenient to use a regular plastic bag. Socks or tights are kneaded inside a tied bag along with water and a small amount of detergent. This method allows you to pre-soak things and wash them without damaging the fabric or wasting a lot of powder and water.
Astronauts, while in Earth orbit, solve the problem of dirty things using an original method. Clothes are dropped from the spacecraft and burn up in the upper atmosphere.
There are a variety of balls that are used in the washing machine. Antistatic ones will prevent the fabric from sticking to the body after washing, balls with special loops will “comb” the lint and prevent the appearance of pills, and silicone ones with pimples will prevent fluff from matting when washing outerwear.
The first officially patented washing machine was made of wood and was a box with a frame, half filled with wooden balls. Laundry for washing and detergent were loaded inside and the frame was moved using a lever, which, in turn, made the balls move and grind the laundry.
Washing machines equipped with the “No Iron” or “Easy Iron” functions can wash clothes with little to no wrinkling. This effect is achieved through a special approach to spinning - it is performed at low speeds, with long pauses, and a small amount of water is retained in the tank.

Electrolux dishwasher errors - Dishwashers, Electrolux dishwasher error codes without display.
Errors caused by blockages
Error i10 or the indicator flashes once with a five-second delay. The code that appears on the screen indicates that the fence mode has been violated. If the code message does not disappear within one minute, this means that one of the following failures may occur:
- The water supply tap is closed or the pressure is low;
- problems with the intake hose. It may be contaminated with debris, pinched or improperly connected;
- the cleaning filter or electric valve of the network water is clogged.
To troubleshoot problems, you must do the following:
- check the presence of water in the system and open the water supply tap;
- check the serviceability of the inlet valve;
- remove and clean the network filter mesh;
- make sure that the hose is not kinked or pinched by anything.
Error i20 or the indicator blinks twice. The appearance of this code means that the Electrolux dishwasher has a breakdown associated with draining water.
If you cannot drain the water within the time specified in the instructions, then it is possible:
- the drain cleaning filter is clogged;
- the drainage pump (pump) is damaged;
- the drain hose is pinched;
- problems with the level sensor.
Recommendations for elimination are as follows:
- remove and clear the drain filter and hose from blockages;
- Check the rotation of the drainage pump impeller. If necessary, clean it from food debris and other contaminants;
- check the drain hose for kinks and pinches;
- check the serviceability of the pressure switch.
It is recommended to call a specialist to check and, if necessary, replace the drain pump or pressure switch.
Problems due to blockages
Users of any dishwasher often encounter system clogging. With such a malfunction, the following codes may appear on the display.
- i20 (2 light flashes of the lamp). Waste water is not discharged into the sewer system. This code “pops up” due to a blockage in the system, a pump blocked by debris, or squeezing of the drain hose. First of all, you need to check the hoses and filters for blockages. If they are detected, you need to remove the accumulated debris, rinse the hose and filter element. If the problem is not clogged, you need to remove the pump cover and see if any trapped debris is preventing the impeller from working, and if necessary, clean it. If a bend in the hose is detected, it should be positioned straight so that nothing interferes with the outflow of waste water.
- i10 (1 light flashing of the lamp). The code indicates that water is not entering the dishwashing tank or is taking too long to fill. Each model is given a strict time limit for such manipulation. Problems with fluid intake from the system arise due to blockages, temporary shutdowns of water due to planned repairs or emergency situations.
Errors related to sensor operation
Error iB0 or indicator blinking 11 times. This code indicates that the transparency sensor is damaged. Possible reasons:
- the sensor is dirty;
- the level relay does not function;
- The drainage system is clogged.
Solutions:
- clean the loading chamber and sensor;
- Perform routine maintenance specified in error i20.
If the breakdown persists, the turbidity control sensor must be replaced.
Error iD0 or indicator blinking 13 times. There is a violation in the speed control control system of the circulation pump motor (problems with the tachogenrator). The water does not heat up. Possible reasons:
- break in the electrical circuit of the sensor or loose contact connections;
- the capacitor in the engine starting circuit burned out;
- due to loosening of the sensor, vibration appeared;
- damage in the tachogenerator itself.
Solutions:
- the electrical circuit is checked and the resistance of the contact connections is measured;
- the sensor mount is restored;
- the capacitor is replaced;
- if necessary, the tachogenerator is replaced.
Electronic prompts about the type of failure
Modern models are equipped with many sensors that control most processes. They are located on the inside of the body, near the valves, behind the walls and are sensitive to water level and temperature changes.
As soon as an emergency situation occurs, the sensors give a signal, the relay is activated and stops the washing process. The dishwasher's error code is displayed on the electronic display, which can be used to determine the reason for its stopping.
The list of codes can be found at the end of the instructions, in the repair section. It usually takes the form of a table, which contains the designations themselves, a list of breakdowns and recommendations for eliminating them.
Sometimes self-diagnosis produces a code indicating several reasons at once - you will have to check the likelihood of all of them one by one. If the breakdown is serious, then in the table you can find the recommendation “contact service.”
In older models, especially those that have undergone more than one repair, the electronics often suffer and malfunctions occur.
If the machine obviously produces an incorrect code, you should have it repaired or think about buying a new one - kitchen appliances, like other appliances, have a limited service life.
We discussed popular breakdowns of dishwashers from well-known brands, error codes and methods for eliminating them in our following articles:

Errors related to the operation of electronics
Error i50 or the indicator flashes five times. Reports problems in the circuit of the controlled switch (triac), which controls the operation of the circulation pump. Possible reasons:
- the appearance of pulsating voltage in the supply network;
- installation of a defective thyristor;
- exceeding the signal level coming from the control board.
To eliminate the malfunction, you must first diagnose the control board and thyristor. Based on the results, make a decision on repair or replacement. It is better to entrust repairs to service center specialists.
Error i80 or the indicator blinks eight times. Error in the operation of the non-volatile memory module EEPROM. This may occur due to a firmware violation or damage in the control module circuit. To determine the nature of the damage, you should check the electrical connection between the processor and the memory module, as well as the availability of power to the board. In this case, we are talking about malfunctions of the system board, so it is recommended to invite service center specialists.
Error i90 or the indicator blinks nine times. With this error, a situation occurs in which it is impossible to select any washing function. Only the Start-Stop button lights up. This occurs when there is a malfunction in the MCF or CCF electronic control board. The main reason may be a firmware violation. The malfunction can only be repaired by service center specialists.
Error iA0 or indicator blinking 10 times. Error in the water spray system. Typically this situation occurs when the rocker arm stops rotating. Causes:
- dishes are placed incorrectly in the loading chamber;
- the speed sensor circuit is broken;
- the speed sensor is damaged;
- problems with the control controller.
If this breakdown occurs, you should first check the placement of the dishes in the chamber. If after these steps the dishwasher still does not work, you need to contact a service center.
Error iС0 or indicator flashes 12 times. There is no electrical connection between the user display board and the control panel. Main reasons:
- broken wiring;
- violation of contact connections;
- damage to the monitor board.
Practical advice for repairs
To carry out simple dishwasher repairs, you will need at least a set of screwdrivers. Pliers, wrenches, hexagons, etc. may also come in handy. If the machine is built-in, you will have to dismantle the decorative panel, then unscrew the fasteners and remove the protective cover, under which the control board and other electronics are located.
Of course, before starting repairs, any dishwasher must be disconnected from the power supply, as well as from the water supply and sewage system. The built-in model may have to be removed from its niche. Free-standing machines also often have to be moved to get to the “internals”.
To disassemble such a machine, you need to use ordinary screwdrivers, although for further repairs you may need a set of keys, pliers, etc.
The machine must be removed from the niche to conduct a detailed examination of the device. For diagnostics, sometimes you have to reconnect the device to the sewer and water supply
First, it makes sense to look for simple breakdowns: “ring” electrical circuits, check contacts and cables, connections, etc. Visually, you can determine the location of the malfunction by traces of melting, fire and other manifestations of the effects of an electric arc.
If the cause of the breakdown cannot be determined at this stage, you need to carry out a more in-depth diagnosis: check the coils of the solenoid valves, electric motor, relays, sensors, semiconductors, etc.
To understand the device of a specific model, you should carefully study the technical data sheet of the device. It happens that the machine does not turn on, although there is voltage in the network. You should check the condition of the power button. Damage to the part itself or a broken contact can cause a similar situation. Usually the element simply has to be replaced.
If the rocker arm does not move during the wash cycle, most likely the dishes are simply placed incorrectly inside, which is preventing the element from rotating properly.
If the button is OK, you need to check and replace the fuses if necessary. A broken power cable can also cause this type of failure. Sometimes the device turns on, but does not carry out the washing program, as if it “freezes”. First you need to try to close and open the door again. If this does not help, you should check the condition of the control board.
Sometimes problems arise with the solenoid valve, resulting in no water flowing into the chamber. You need to connect the terminals of the multimeter to the contacts of such a valve, turn on the dishwasher and check the voltage at the moment when the valve should open. If the device does not respond, then it is time to replace the valve.
You can use a multimeter to check the health of the heating element, as well as to diagnose the condition of the electrical system of the dishwasher.
Leaking in Electrolux dishwashers is rare, but it does happen. In this case, you need to check the integrity of the case. It may be corroded and the hole needs to be repaired. You should also make sure that all connections in the drain hose area are tight. A leak can also occur when the door seal wears out and will have to be replaced.
You need to pay attention to the situation when the dishwasher starts to make a lot of noise. This often indicates problems with the drain pump. It is either worn out or dirty. Usually the entire pump is replaced with a new one.
Electric motor bearings can also make noise if water seeps into them. The bearings or the entire motor need to be replaced.
If the machine begins to make too much or unusual noise during operation, the drain pump may be damaged and needs to be replaced.
The low quality of drying in condenser machines can be explained simply - the rinse aid does not enter the chamber or there is not enough of it. If turbo drying is poor, you need to check the fan and air heating element. If the device begins to shock, you will have to sequentially check all circuits and electrical components.

How to resolve error I30
Try resetting the code by rebooting the device:
- remove the plug from the socket;
- wait 10-15 minutes;
- restart the PMM.
If the icon no longer lights up on the screen, then it is a normal system failure. But if it shows up again, then check.
All Electrolux brand dishwashers are equipped with a tray. There is a float sensor at the bottom that is triggered when there is a leak. Your task is to check if there is water in the pan.
How to correct the situation and drain the water:
- Place a container, tilt the dishwasher and drain the water.
- Dry off any remaining moisture.
- Remove the top cover.
- Unscrew the screws around the perimeter and remove the side panels.
- Turn on the car.
While the water is being collected, you can check which part is leaking and fix the problem.
Drain system
If the pan is dry, then you need to look for another reason. Check drains and sewerage:
- Disconnect the drain hose and check for blockages. You can clean it under water pressure.
- Open the mixer tap to full power.
- See how quickly the water goes down the drain. If the passage is clogged, use special cleaning products.
In 27% of cases, code I30 appears due to a clogged drain filter. Therefore, it is recommended to clean it twice a month.
Open the hopper door and unscrew the filter, and then the mesh behind it. Then inspect the pump impeller. To do this, unscrew and remove the cap (located immediately behind the filter). Then remove any debris from the impeller.
The pump itself and pipes are also checked. You can perform an inspection by removing the pan and disassembling the car a little. You can read more in the article “How to replace the pump in a dishwasher.”
If there is a malfunction, the drain pump cannot be repaired. Needs a complete replacement.
How to clear blockages
After making sure that there are no leaks in the Electrolux dishwasher, we check its elements for clogging. It is recommended to start with a drain hose leading into the sewer system, as this is the simpler and more likely option. We remove the hose and inspect it carefully.
The drain into the sewer pipe itself is checked as follows:
- the mixing tap opens to create good water pressure;
- it is necessary to observe how the liquid goes into the sewer system;
- If the drainage is poor, the pipe should be cleaned with a cable. If everything is in order, the blockage must be looked for in the system of the Electrolux dishwasher.
Work begins with an inspection of the filter element. It is carefully removed and washed, and if necessary, a complete replacement is performed. As follows from statistical data, error i30 appears in almost thirty percent of cases associated with a clogged filter, so experts recommend checking and cleaning this element regularly for preventive purposes.
All that remains is to remove the tray to inspect the pipes and other elements of the dishwasher. Such work will require some effort and time, so many people prefer to entrust it to a master who will do everything quickly and with good quality.
Leak
Error I30 on an Electrolux or Zanussi dishwasher may appear when a leak occurs. All Electrolux models are equipped with a special tray where water accumulates in the event of a leak. Therefore, the first thing you should do is check it; if it is empty, then the problem is due to a different reason.
PMM
If you find water there, drain it and dry the tray thoroughly. Then unscrew the back wall of the machine and remove the side walls, turn on the machine and start it. This way, you can easily determine where the water is leaking and replace the damaged part.
You need to know this! It is recommended to use sealant to eliminate leaks in the most extreme cases. At the first opportunity, buy and replace the faulty part that has failed. Otherwise, you risk being left without a car forever.
Watch a video on cleaning equipment:
Couldn't fix your machine by cleaning? Then diagnose the pump. The node is located at the bottom of the body. If there is a problem, just disconnect the wiring of the part, turn it and remove it from its place. After this, a new node is installed.
Heating fault
The first sign of heating problems is poor dishwashing. Fat does not dissolve in cold water, so you will remove wet but dirty utensils from the chamber. Diagnostics will help to accurately determine the cause of the problem. You need to check:
- A heating element;
- Temperature sensor;
- Their wiring and control triacs on the board.
Replacing the heating element in Electrolux PMM models is complicated by the presence of a non-separable heating block. Buying a replacement part will cost 3000-4000 rubles. Think about whether the game is worth the candle. If the equipment is already old, it makes sense to add money to a new dishwasher rather than buy a unit.
Have you decided to make a replacement? Then here is the sequence of steps for disassembling the PMM:
- Unplug the machine;
- Shut off the water supply and disconnect communications;
- Remove the baskets from the hopper;
- Remove the filter and water at the bottom;
- Unscrew the five screws securing the heater;
- Turn the body on its side;
- Remove the bottom;
- The block is connected to a circulation pump;
- Turn off the wiring, release the clamps;
- Rotate the block and disconnect it from the pump;
- Install the new unit in reverse order.
To avoid problems with network outages, connect a voltage stabilizer.
The machine does not wash dishes well
Problems with washing are possible when:
- poor supply of detergents;
- overloading the machine with dishes;
- blocking the sprayer;
- circulation pump malfunction.
Check the powder supply simply. Open the cuvette - if the remains of the tablet are visible in it, it means that water is not entering the compartment well. Check the placement of dishes in the hopper. Maybe a large plate is blocking the compartment, or the supply hose is clogged. Clean the cuvette after each wash to prevent detergent from accumulating in it.
Overload interferes with fluid circulation. When one device overlaps another, water does not wash the surface. There must be a gap between the plates for high-quality washing.
The rotation of the rocker arm, again, can be blocked by the plate. There may be a blockage or foreign object in the way. Clean the sprayer holes - nozzles.
After this, the pump is inspected. If it breaks and does not pass liquid, the unit needs to be replaced. The case will need to be disassembled. Remove the bottom, disconnect the pipes leading to the pump. An example of the repair is shown in the video:
Leak in the system
Damage or corrosion of the unit body leads to leakage. Although this is rare, it is not recommended to do any soldering yourself. Such repairs will not last long, so you will have to completely replace the body.
When Aquastop is activated, water may end up in the sump or leak from the hose connections. Inspect the following items:
- Hose fastenings. Tighten the clamps tighter.
- Pump gasket. If worn, install a new element.
- Door seal. Loss of tightness leads to leakage. Open the door, remove the old seal and install the new one.
Check to see if the pallet is damaged. Then it’s better to put a whole stand. If the float sensor malfunctions, a working part is installed.
Decoding error i20
If the Electrolux dishwasher displays the error mentioned above, there may be several reasons for the problem. Usually the presented error appears on the dishwasher in the following cases:
- the reverse side drain does not work within one minute;
- there is a clog in the dishwasher drain filter;
- the drain pipe is kinked or clogged;
- The dishwasher drain hose is kinked or clogged;
- there is a breakdown of such a device part as a pressure switch.
Usually, error code i20 can be eliminated on your own, but there are also more serious problems that require calling a qualified technician to deal with.
Troubleshooting methods
Having identified an error on the display of their dishwasher, the first thing the consumer asks is how to fix the problem. A professional diagnosis of the condition of the equipment will help answer the question, but you should not immediately run for a screwdriver, because you need to eliminate the possibility of a system failure. To confirm or deny the fact of a system failure, the consumer needs to perform a number of simple steps.
The first step is to disconnect the device from the electrical power supply. After completing this procedure, you just need to wait 15 minutes, after which you can turn on the technical device. If the dishwasher continues to give an error, then the problem is not a system failure, but a real problem.
What to do if restarting the dishwasher did not help users will be prompted by the following simple instructions:
- carefully inspect the drain hose and assess its condition;
- if the hose is pinched or twisted, correct this situation;
- turn off the water supply and disconnect the hose;
- check the hose for blockages, if there are any, remove the dirt;
- when the above actions do not help, open the back wall of the technical device, carefully inspect the pressure switch and drain pump;
- if necessary, repair these components or replace them.
To properly diagnose the condition of the dishwasher, it must be completely disconnected from the power supply. After this, the device should be moved to a place where it will be freely accessible from all sides. Diagnosis of the malfunction must be carried out professionally, so if the user is not confident in his own abilities, and elementary breakdowns that can be fixed by himself have not been confirmed, it is worth calling a specialist.
A professional will carefully inspect the Electrolux dishwasher, conduct a competent diagnosis of the condition of the device and carry out competent repairs. It is not necessary to take the dishwasher to a service center, because it is possible to call a technician to your home.
Typically, Electrolux dishwashers do not break down often, but force majeure situations do occur, especially if users do not follow basic operating rules.
To avoid the i20 error completely, the consumer should always monitor the condition of the drain hose and promptly clean the filters. It is recommended to clean the filters at least once every two months, or more often. Also, when loading dishes into the machine, it is worth checking whether there are any large pieces of food left there, because they are the ones that contribute to clogging.
When installing a dishwasher or moving it to a new place, you should make sure that the hose is not bent, twisted or crushed, because this also provokes the error mentioned above.
When drawing a conclusion for yourself, you should definitely take into account that proper operation of household appliances will extend its service life and help avoid costly repairs. If a breakdown does occur, then without competence in working with equipment, you should immediately contact a professional, which will save time and money, because illiterate intervention in the functional system of the device can make it even worse.
Broken on/off key
Often the problem when turning on the dishwasher is the breakdown of the power button itself. Since it is the one that is most used in work, it is quite possible that it could wear out. You cannot use a dishwasher with a broken button.
To check the button, you need to remove it from the car and check its functionality with a multimeter. If it is broken, it cannot be repaired. The button assembly must be completely replaced.
If inside the button body it is clear that the contacts are burnt, then diagnostics need not be carried out. Obviously, there is a problem with switching on and the machine does not work precisely because of this.
When is it possible to resolve error E40 on your own?
After such an alarm signal occurs, you must immediately inspect the door frame, hinge overhangs, and make sure that the lock tongue fits completely into the hole intended for it. You should make sure that there are no foreign objects - debris, stuck things, displaced gasket. The identified obstacles are removed, after which the hatch is closed again and an attempt is made to activate the washing machine.
If the hatch is skewed, the hinges are inspected. It happens that the screws in the hinges become loose, and this causes the door to not close tightly. This problem can be easily resolved - take a screwdriver and tighten the screws until they stop.
What else should I do to eliminate error E40 on SMA Electrolux? We activate the operating mode, press the door with our knee or hand, hold it for several minutes until we hear a characteristic click. At the same time, an icon will light up on the screen indicating that the hatch is locked.
Experienced technicians advise trying to disconnect the machine from the electrical network, wait about ten minutes and try to turn on the unit again. If the reason was hidden in a small module failure (due to a voltage drop), then such actions will help the machine reboot.
Loop overhangs fail due to excessive pressure on them from above. The lock breaks if attempts are made to open the hatch during the washing process. Voltage drop leads to failure of microcircuits. We do not exclude wear and tear of the machine itself - any Electrolux part can be used for no more than five to eight years in intensive mode.
FAQ
How to stop the program and unlock the door
Canceling a program is most often done by pressing the “Start” key and holding it for 3 seconds. After stopping the program, the machine will drain and unlock the door.
If the water is turned off and the process is running
We recommend disabling PMM as soon as possible to avoid program failure.
Incorrectly selected tablet, you need to change the brand. It is also necessary to check the operation of the dispenser.
Each equipment has its own operating pressure (standard 1.5-2 atmospheres), determined by technical parameters. In city water supply there is usually from 0.3 to 6 atmospheres for cold water and from 0.3 to 4.5 atmospheres for hot water. To get acquainted with information on a certain PMM, you need to study its passport.
The main types of dishwasher breakdowns
The wash cycle does not start
The machine may work, but after the cycle is completed, it turns out that the dishes are still dirty. Reasons for failure:
- the filter is clogged with food debris;
- water does not circulate from clogged nozzles;
- The circulation pump is broken.
In the first and second cases, the malfunction can be fixed independently. The filter is removed, washed to remove any remaining food, and the nozzles are cleaned with a toothpick. The problem with the pump will only be solved by contacting a specialist.
The machine overflows water
To measure the water level, the device has a special sensor. Problems with the amount of water are a sign that the module has become unusable. You can carry out the repair yourself by replacing the part. It is located at the bottom of the machine.
Incorrect temperature
Problems with temperature lie in a malfunction of the temperature sensor or heating element of the device. It is better to entrust their replacement to a specialist.
Insufficient heating may be the result of low water pressure in the system.
Control system malfunctions
If such breakdowns occur, diagnostics and repairs should be carried out by qualified technicians. For example, if the circulation pump does not work (error i50), the reason may be either the pump itself or the failure of the control triac located in the control unit. In addition, the triac may not receive a signal generated by the processor. Similar situations may arise when codes from i80 to iD0 are displayed, when the sensors do not respond or the ECU is broken.
Electrolux dishwasher control unit
We looked at the most common breakdowns of Electrolux dishwashers. We hope that this material will help you troubleshoot problems yourself.
Let's look at the main machine breakdowns
The majority of dishwashers supplied to the Russian market are produced in Poland and account for about 90%. The quality of their components and assembly can be compared with similar units from German and Swedish companies, but, as they say, you don’t have to choose. Most experts highlight the following advantages of household appliances manufactured by Electrolux:
- all components are made exclusively from high-quality raw materials;
- the development of circulation pumps was approached really wisely, they were designed with a high working life;
- The manufacturer is meticulous about small details, such as wires, clamps, terminals, rubber bands and filters, which in turn increased the period of trouble-free operation of the dishwasher.
No particularly critical disadvantages were found when using the dishwasher; they, like everyone else, are characterized by typical breakdowns, from which it is quite difficult to protect yourself. Let's list them below:
- clogging of drain and filler pipes;
- failures in the water collection program;
- problems with the quality of dishwashing;
- The heating element (heating element) does not heat the water sufficiently.
The dishwasher does not complete the wash program
A fairly common occurrence is that during a washing program it simply freezes. Most often, to solve the problem, you need to reboot the dishwasher; to put it simply, you need to turn off the device for just a couple of minutes, and then return the power supply to it again.
If this problem repeats with all dishwashing programs, you must call a specialist who will carefully check everything and, if a defect or defect is found, replace the damaged part.
Note! On some Electrolux dishwasher models, replacing the control module costs a lot of money. In such a situation, it will be easier for you to buy a new dishwasher than to replace a faulty control module
However, do not be upset, this problem is most often associated with an error in the operation of the following sensors, namely: pressure switch, aqua sensor and others. Sometimes the electrical network is involved in the failure of the entire group of sensors.
In this article we looked at how to repair Electrolux dishwashers with your own hands. However, remember, if you don’t know anything about technology, the best solution would be to turn to specialists who will carry out all the repairs themselves, and you won’t have to waste your nerves and money on unjustified actions.
