Error codes 1E, E7, 1C in a Samsung washing machine

You started the next wash, loaded the laundry, selected the required mode and pressed “Start”. But literally 10-20 seconds have passed since the start of the program, and you noticed that the Samsung washing machine does not draw water, and the error code IE / E7 / 1C lights up on its display. You may hear the drain pump turn on before the error appears.

Attention! Do not confuse error 1E with error E1, which indicates problems with water intake.

However, for the first time an error may appear not necessarily at the start, but at any stage of washing, rinsing or spinning. But the reoccurrence of the error, as a rule, occurs immediately after starting the program.

In Samsung washing machine models without a screen, when this error occurs, all mode indicators flash simultaneously and the temperature indicators 60°C, 40°C and the cold water wash indicator light up.

Error interpretation

The appearance of error 1 E / 1C on a Samsung washing machine indicates incorrect operation of the water level sensor (pressostat). The frequency generated by the sensor does not correspond to the normal wash cycle. As a result, the washer turns on the drain, displays an error and stops executing the program.

Note! On early models of Samsung machines produced before 2007, the pressure switch error corresponds to code E7. It appears if the operating frequency of the pressure switch is less than 15 kHz (full tank) or more than 30 kHz (empty tank) for more than 5 seconds. After which the drain pump turns on for about 3 minutes, and an error appears.

In most cases, error code 1E / 1C / E7 directly indicates a breakdown of the pressure switch, however, in some cases, you can fix the problem yourself.

Causes

The E1 code can appear on the screen of a Samsung washing machine at any stage of the wash cycle. There are cases when E1 is displayed immediately after connecting the device, but such situations are a rare occurrence. In more than 90% of cases, code E1 is issued during the following washing stages:

  • when the machine starts pouring water and at the same time takes detergent from a special tray;
  • when preparing the rinsing process, when the device begins to fill with clean water;
  • during the secondary rinse, if such a function is available.

In a washing machine without a screen, the E1 code can be recognized if the light opposite the “cold water” indicator lights up and the “washing mode” light diodes blink.

The causes of the malfunction may be:

  • closed tap for water to enter the device;
  • low water pressure in the house or its complete absence;
  • the inlet hose is pinched;
  • the filter is clogged;
  • Uncontrolled water drains from the machine.

Modern machines are equipped with an Aquastop device on the inlet hose, which protects against leaks.

There may be other, more complex reasons for the error, if confirmed, you will have to replace parts or take the equipment to a repair shop, in particular:

  • The wiring connected to the intake valve has burnt out, which may cause not only an E1 error, but also a short circuit.
  • The intake valve has failed and cannot open or close.
  • Electronics failure. If water gets into the machine's control module, a short circuit occurs, or perhaps there is a manufacturing defect.

E1 should not be confused with error 1E, which indicates a breakdown of the water level sensor. In many cases, error 1E directly indicates a breakdown of the pressure switch.

You can easily deal with the following reasons for the error on your own.

  • Control module failure . Unplug the unit, wait 5 minutes, and then turn it on again. The electronic controller that controls the operation of the washing machine may have malfunctioned.
  • The contacts on the control board or pressure switch have come loose. Check the reliability of all connections in the area from the pressure switch to the control module - perhaps one of the connectors on the board or the water level sensor itself has come loose.
  • The pressure switch tube is bent or disconnected. Check the condition of the high pressure pipe of the pressure switch. This hose is designed to connect the water level sensor to the pressure tap chamber. With its help, the pressure switch “understands” how much water has entered the washing machine tank. During operation, the tube may bend or fall off completely. This is why the error message appears. Remove kinks or put the tube back on if it is disconnected.

If, after carrying out all the manipulations described above, your Samsung washing machine still displays error 1E / E7, most likely the unit is broken.

Symptoms of basic problems

Basic diagnostics can be carried out by the presence of previously unobserved deviations in the operation of the machine or changes in its appearance.

An unusual odor appears

A similar phenomenon can occur when mechanical parts are severely worn. The problem is solved by replacing them with new ones.

If you can clearly smell a burning smell, this is a signal that a short circuit has occurred. The machine should be turned off and contact a professional.

The washing machine, produced under the Samsung brand, fits organically into any interior. It’s quite simple to understand how to control it - you just need to set a program suitable for those things that will be loaded into the drum. In this case, the machine will select all modes itself.

Recording unusual noises

A loud noise is heard while filling the tank with water - the reason lies in the high pressure. If adjusting the inlet valve does not produce any results, there may be foreign objects in the supply hose.

Periodic noise during the spin cycle indicates that the machine is not installed correctly or that a foreign object has entered the drum or housing. In this case, the unit should be thoroughly inspected and reinstalled.

The cause of noise during drainage may be the skew of the underlying surface. To eliminate the loud sound, you should install the housing correctly and make sure that the drain pump filter is clean.

If during operation the engine roars loudly or a knocking noise appears, you need to consult a professional.

Changing body color

The paint may peel off and change color when the washing machine is installed in a room with high humidity. Usually the lower part of the unit body and its bottom are affected.

If the damage is minor, you can touch up and clean the areas of change yourself. To further correct the problem, you need to reinstall the machine in a dry, well-ventilated room.

In unsuitable conditions, the washing machine can quickly become unusable. Therefore, it is better not to install it in the bathroom, where there is always high humidity.

Various manifestations of water leakage

The presence of a puddle flowing from under the body indicates flaws in the hoses designed to drain and supply water. If a self-inspection actually reveals cracks and holes, the elements should be replaced. Otherwise, specialist intervention will be required.

If the powder compartment is overfilled or clogged, a leak may also occur. To fix the problem, clean the compartment thoroughly.

If the inspection reveals a leak from the places where the pipes connect to the machine, you need to repeat the assembly or replace the sealing part.

Door malfunction

Jamming indicates a power outage. In this case, to open the door, you need to press and hold the power button for a long time.

If the door does not close, it may be due to excess laundry in the drum or foreign objects getting into the gap.

The machine's loading door should open and close easily. The occurrence of violations may indicate not only problems with the mechanism itself, but also more serious problems with the unit

Display problems

Symbols freeze and there is no backlight - this may indicate moisture has entered the control panel. The machine should be unplugged and allowed to dry for a day. If the display does not light up when turned on or unknown characters appear on it, you need to contact a service center.

Possible breakdowns

We specifically calculated how many Samsung washing machines were repaired by RemBytTech technicians. It turned out that there were 3178 pieces. Based on this data, we have compiled a list of popular failures that occur with the IE / 1C / E7 error in the table below.

In 80% of cases, the breakdown is associated with a water level switch (pressostat) - from 1000 rubles.

May be due to the following reasons:

  • the high pressure hose of the level switch may be clogged;
  • it is possible that the pressure switch hose is damaged;
  • the sensor tube could fly off (especially during transportation) or bend;
  • Perhaps the sensor itself has failed.

Signs

Water does not flow into the Samsung washing machine, and error E7 or 1 E is displayed. For the first time, the error may appear at any stage of washing, rinsing or spinning.

How to fix

Depending on the reason for the failure of the water level sensor, you will need to eliminate problems with the pressure switch hose or replace the level sensor itself:

  • if the sensor tube is clogged, you need to blow it out (you can do this yourself);
  • if the tube falls off or is bent, you will need to restore the connection or eliminate the bend (you can also do it yourself);
  • if damaged, the tube will need to be replaced;
  • If the level sensor itself gets stuck, it will need to be replaced with a new one.

The control module has failed - the microcircuit that controls all the “actions” of the washing machine - from 2,400 rubles.

Signs

When turned on, the Samsung machine displays error code E7 / 1E / 1C.

How to fix

Often, resistors near the pressure switch connector on the control module burn, causing the board to lose contact with the water level sensor. In this case, you can get by with repairing the board. To do this, you need to replace the burnt resistor on the microcircuit and solder the burnt contacts.

If the processor on the board breaks down, the control module will need to be completely replaced.

The internal wiring of the washing machine, going from the control board to the pressure switch, is damaged, or the sensor contacts have oxidized - from RUB 1,800.

Signs

The washing machine shows error E 7 / 1 E (on the display or in the form of a combination of temperature indicators) a few seconds after turning it on.

Useful tips

Problems with water supply to the device can occur on any machine and it doesn’t matter what brand it is - Beko, Ardo, Bosch or others. Each has its own codes. For example, LG has a similar code - 1E, Indesit and Ariston have a code similar to the familiar chemical formula - H20, etc. Accordingly, the troubleshooting methods are similar.

To maintain the machine in good condition and eliminate problems with water intake, you must:

  • avoid high levels of humidity in order to maintain the functionality of the board;
  • work carefully with the programmer during washing, turn on the “child lock” function;
  • Clean the inlet hose filter periodically.

Careful attention to the car is the key to its long-term operation.

Preventive measures

If your Samsung washing machine breaks down quickly, then most likely you purchased a low-quality product. Price and proper care do not affect the long life of the product if the purchase was defective. If the first breakdown occurs after five or six years of use, then this is normal. Because all parts of Samsung washing equipment wear out over such a long period of time. In order for the washer to serve for a long time, it is necessary to properly care for it. The case should be wiped from different sides with a damp sponge and then the moisture should be removed dry.

It is necessary to monitor the weight of the clothes that need to be washed. Wearing clothes that are too heavy will damage the mechanism and may cause damage. Also, do not forget that after each wash you need to leave the door of the Samsung unit open. If moisture does not evaporate, mold will appear. If you have hard water, you should also use a special descaling powder at least during washing. This will help avoid plaque formation.

If it happens that the washing machine displays error code E1, this means that it cannot fill the tank with water. Why such a breakdown occurred, you will need to figure it out yourself or call a professional.
