How to repair or replace a washing machine cross

How to replace the crosspiece in a washing machine

The cross is the connecting link between the tank and the drum. This important part, which ensures the operation of the moving part of the automatic washing machine (WMA), contains bearings.

Since the cross-shaped element is made of soft metals, it can become deformed and become unusable. As a result of its breakdown, the bearings, heating element, drum and even the tank body are destroyed.

Let's figure out how to replace the cross of a washing machine.

Causes of failure

The crosspiece of the washing machine tank, holding the drum, takes on heavy loads during washing - they are the main reason for its wear and tear or even breakage.

But this problem is not catastrophic if it is noticed and eliminated in time. In itself, the breakdown of a cross-shaped part will not cause much damage to the budget - its cost is 2,000-5,000 rubles.

But the consequences that can arise if you ignore the signs of a problem can be very serious.

Photo 1

If the crosspiece of the drum for a washing machine is deformed, the user will be able to guess this by sounds that are uncharacteristic of the operation of the device. A metallic grinding and creaking sound appears. Causes of malfunction:

  • Bearing defects. This is the most common option. If these elements are destroyed, the shaft will also be damaged.
  • Manufacturing defect. This story is not uncommon for SMA Italian brands. Why is this happening? Perhaps due to insufficient quality of the alloy and control over the production process.
  • Increased water hardness. Due to hard water, rotation is difficult, loads increase, soft metal cannot withstand and is deformed.
  • Repair errors. Thus, when replacing bearings, inept actions can lead to damage to the shaft or the threads of the mounting bolt.

When is repair possible?

There are two options - replacement or “reanimation”. To make an accurate diagnosis, you need the experienced eye of a specialist. Having studied the degree of wear of the shaft and thread, he will decide whether the situation can be corrected. If, after disassembling the machine and inspecting the shaft, you doubt its serviceability, consult with professionals.

If the cause of the noise is wear of the bearings, but the shaft is not worn out, there is no point in replacing the entire assembly; it is enough to install new bearings. If there is visible damage on the shaft and other elements of the cross, the part will have to be replaced.

DIY washing machine cross repair

The process, regardless of the cause of the breakdown and the method of eliminating it, begins with disassembling the tank. In different SMs, the tank is reached in different ways - through the top or from the facade. It is more difficult if you have to dismantle the facade panel. Before removing the cross from the washing machine drum, you have to disassemble the SM. Sequencing:

Photo 3

  • Disconnect the SMA from the power supply.
  • Drain the remaining water in the tank. Unscrew the inlet hose. Remove the drain filter.
  • Move the machine away from the wall - you need space to disassemble the device.
  • Start disassembling. Start by removing the top cover - unscrew the screws and push it away from you.
  • Remove the front wall. It is necessary to dismantle the control panel, cuff, UBL.
  • Remove the back wall. Remove the drive belt (if the SM has a commutator motor and a belt drive).
  • Disconnect the electric motor and remove the tank. Disassemble it into two parts - if the tank is collapsible. Non-removable is a big problem. You will have to either give up the idea of repairing the broken unit - then the tank will be scrapped, or cut it with a hacksaw.
  • Examine the bearings, if they are the cause of the failure, replace them. You'll have to try hard here. Usually they are tight and you have to knock them out with a chisel. It happens that you even use a drill to make cuts in the bearings, and then, inserting a chisel there, knock them out. Replace the old bearings with new ones. Also replace the old oil seals with new ones - since you had to tinker so much, do as many useful things as possible.
  • Photo 4

    If the bearings are to blame for incorrect operation, the repair is complete. You can reassemble the machine in reverse order.

    What to do if the part itself needs to be replaced? Before removing and replacing the washing machine crosspiece, you need to unscrew a couple of bolts - they attach it to the outer surface of the drum. Remove the deformed or worn part and replace it with a new one. That's it - assemble the washing machine and check its operation.

Characteristic

The washing machine cross is located between the drum and the tank. This part ensures the connection between these elements of the automatic machine. There are bearings inside the cross, so it is often sold complete with them, as well as with oil seals. The crosspiece is made from a strong but lightweight material, such as stainless steel or aluminum alloy .

The crosspieces in washing machines of different brands are similar to each other, but still have certain differences. Therefore, if it is necessary to replace such a part, it is important to purchase a suitable element, taking into account both the manufacturer and the model of the automatic machine. The difference will be in the length of the shaft, the distance between the bearings, the size of the bearings and other characteristics.

There are also homemade crosspieces on sale for those machines for which such parts are not supplied.

How to repair or replace a washing machine cross

In this article we will tell you why you need Bosch, etc. washing machine It will also be described below how to repair the cross if something happens.

General information

Modern washing machines from companies such as Samsung, Bosch, Indesit, LG are very popular in Russia and the CIS countries due to their quality and technology, as well as ease of washing.

But more and more often the question arises that the more expensive the car, the more expensive its maintenance and repair. This especially applies to the Indesit and Bosh brands, because

over many years they have shown themselves to be the best, which suggests that their equipment is naturally not cheap.

One of the most important parts of any washing machine is the drum. After all, this is where the washing takes place - the process for which this machine was created. The rotation of the drum is carried out by a bearing unit, which, in turn, is attached to the cross. The drum itself rests on it. A malfunction of the crosspiece can lead to dire consequences, depending on the damage to the latter.

Most often, the crosspiece breaks due to high loads, and this entails a number of other breakdowns, because An automatic washing machine is a complex mechanism that includes not only parts and mechanisms, but also an electronic component. Also, a malfunction can occur when oil seals and bearings wear out, which are either poorly lubricated or made of soft and brittle material.

In order to avoid damage to the crosspiece, you must listen carefully to the sounds that the operating drum makes. Grinding, knocking, rustling of surfaces indicates that most likely the bearings have become unusable or the cross itself has a deflection.

If you hear similar or unusual sounds coming from the drum, you should immediately stop the washing machine and contact a specialist. The crosspiece itself is inexpensive, and there is plenty of it in warehouses, but disassembling and repairing the drum is painstaking and expensive work.

Also, if you have sufficient experience and the necessary knowledge, you can repair the car yourself.

a Samsung washing machine is not much different from the crosspieces of machines from LG, Bosch, Indesit and other popular manufacturers. The fundamental difference is in the drums and their orientation relative to the surface; they can be horizontal or vertical. But vertical ones are more popular, so we’ll talk about them.

Samsung washing machine cross repair

In most cases, the repair of the cross consists of replacing the latter, because it is made of metal that cannot be welded or leveled. Therefore it is replaced. This will cost less, and the car will have a new part in it, rather than a repaired old one, which will again become unusable after a while.

In order for the crosspiece for a Samsung washing machine to fit your model, you need to select the part you need; to do this, contact the service center of the brand (in our case, Samsung) or a specialized store. The main factor for replacement should be that the part must be from the same company and for the same model of washing machine.

If the problem is not in the cross itself, but in “flying” bearings or oil seals, which greatly simplifies the problem. This applies to Bosch and Indesit washing machines. Most often, it is not the drum cross that breaks, but the secondary parts. Naturally, the details must be original, because... The manufacturer does not take responsibility for any failure otherwise.

Replacing the crosspiece of a Samsung washing machine

The details of the crosspieces, like the crosspieces themselves from different manufacturers, have different appearances, but in essence and application they are the same. Replacing the crosspiece of a Samsung washing machine is as follows:

  • old, faulty bearings and seals located on the shaft are dismantled;
  • Next comes the installation of new oil seals;
  • After the seals, new bearings are installed and pressed in.
  • At first glance, this process may seem simple, but for those who do not have experience, it will be very difficult, especially if non-original parts are used, because you will have to adjust the bearings to the cuts and holes. Therefore, it is advised to seek help from a specialist.

    In this article we told you about how the crosspiece for a Samsung washing machine

    Where to buy a shock absorber for an Indesit washing machine, at what price, how to choose?

    When choosing a new set of shock absorbers, you need to pay attention to the following points:

    • length (in compressed and open form must correspond to the parameters of the dismantled element);
    • bushing diameter (even a slight deviation from the original parameters of the dismantled element will not allow a high-quality installation of a new shock absorber);
    • load indicator (indicated by the manufacturer on the case, varies from 100N to 150 N);
    • shock absorber stiffness (the parameter is indicated by the manufacturer on the body, most often designated as 85N or 80N).

    When going to the store, it’s a good idea to take an old part with you as a sample. This will help avoid selection mistakes.

    If shock absorbers are ordered on specialized websites, the seller must inform the make and model of the washing machine, the year of its manufacture and all the parameters that can be found on the old part. The more information is provided, the greater the chance of finding parts identical to the original.

    The cost of a pair of shock absorbers varies from 450 rubles. up to 1500 rub.

    Features of replacing the washing machine shaft

    Household appliances often break down. An unpleasant surprise for any owner can be a breakdown of an Lg, Indezit, Electrolux washing machine. Typical signs of a malfunction are drum play and characteristic noise during spinning. To fix the problem, it is necessary to repair the washing machine shaft.

    Disassembling the washing machine

    Causes of failure

    The most common causes of crosspiece malfunction are:

    • hard water;
    • wear or defect of individual parts: bearings and seals;
    • poor quality repairs;
    • bushing corrosion;
    • manufacturing defect;
    • bad lubrication.

    If the cross bearings of an Lg washing machine (or any other) break, many service centers can offer a complete replacement of the shaft. Such repairs can be almost more expensive than buying a new washing machine. A non-working bearing can be replaced with a new one with your own hands, but this process can be labor-intensive.

    Washing machine drum shaft

    Before starting repairs, you need to purchase new spare parts: bearings and seals. It is recommended to purchase only original parts suitable for a specific model. This way the device will work longer.

    How to remove the drum shaft of a washing machine?

    To replace the cross bearing of a household appliance, you must first gain access to the drum. Washing machines from Lg, Indezit, Electrolux and most other brands must be completely disassembled to gain access to the cross.

    Drum shaft mounting

    To remove the washing machine shaft, you should do everything step by step:

  • Remove the top cover and then the back wall. To do this, the bolts are unscrewed.
  • Remove the washing powder tray. You need to pull it towards you and up.
  • Unscrew the fastening elements of the front panel of the device. Remove the rubber cuff. Remove the hatch locking bolts. Remove the front panel of the case.
  • Disconnect the drain pipe. To do this, the clamp is unscrewed. In case there is some water left in the pipe, you need to first prepare rags.
  • Disconnect each wire connected to the tank.
  • Unscrew the counterweights. Without them the tank will be lighter.
  • Unscrew the shock absorbers that are attached to the lower bolts.
  • Remove the washing tub by unhooking it from the spring on which it is held.
  • Remove the belt, unscrew the engine and shock absorbers attached to the tank.
  • Disassembling the washing machine tank

    To gain access to the washing machine crosspiece, you must disassemble the tank. It needs to be divided into two parts, and then the drum must be removed. Both parts of the tank are fastened around the entire perimeter using bolts or latches.

    Disassembling the washing machine tank

    The drum should be knocked out from the outside. You can use a hammer, but you need to act slowly and carefully. The drum must be pulled out so that the shaft of the LG washing machine (or a model from another manufacturer) is not damaged. The crosspiece and shaft must be cleaned to a shiny condition.

    Replacing bearings

    The most difficult thing when replacing bearings is dismantling the worn part. Often, old bearings stick to the shaft of a household appliance so tightly that it is simply impossible to remove them.

    To dismantle the old bearing it is recommended:

  • Take a grinder.
  • Make slots on both sides of the bearing.
  • Place a chisel in the slot and remove the bearing from the shaft.
  • This method of disposing of an old bearing significantly reduces the risk of shaft damage. Old oil seals must also be removed, even if they are in working order.

    Seals and bearings must be replaced at the same time. If you replace the bearing but leave the old seal, this may cause the drum bushing to become deformed.

    Usually no one repairs the bushing, so such a breakdown will lead to a complete replacement of the drum.

    The released bearing seat must be cleaned with sandpaper and wiped with a special descaling agent.

    Replacing bearings

    After dismantling the old parts, you need to install new ones. There are situations when new bearings are difficult to attach or do not want to attach to the bushing at all. Experts recommend heating the steel bushing with a blowtorch.

    When all the new parts have been installed, reassembling the washing machine must be done in the reverse order. When assembling the two halves of the washing tub, the joint should be lubricated with sealant.

    Repairing a washing machine shaft is an energy-consuming process. The main difficulty lies not in installing new parts, but in the long disassembly of the household appliance. Restoring the washing machine shaft yourself will take some time, but will help significantly save the family budget.

    Causes of failure

    A cross with bearings is installed inside the drum, which provides it with rotational movements. It is its main detail. The drum cross is attached to the tank in the washing machine. Since it supports the entire structure, its role in the operation of all equipment is invaluable.

    During washing, a large load is placed on the drum, so it often breaks. There can be many reasons for problems with the operation of the cross of a Samsung, Bosch, LG, Indesit washing machine, for example:

    • Wear or defect of parts: bearings, seals;
    • Hard water;
    • Manufacturer defect;
    • Poorly carried out repairs;
    • Bushing corrosion;
    • Poor lubrication. It has a detrimental effect on the crosspiece, which is produced using soft metal.

    Conditions for restoring washing machine crosspieces | Questions and Answers

    By restoring the crosspiece, we mean restoring the surface of the shaft under the bearings and/or under the oil seal.

    We do not restore or manufacture the aluminum part of the crosspiece.

    You yourself decide whether it is necessary to restore one or another part of the crosspiece and tell us your wishes.

    We can recommend that you restore that part of the shaft that you did not request, if our specialists consider it necessary. But you make the final decision. We are also not obliged to diagnose the crosspiece, identify its weak or potentially weak points, and make a decision for you whether it is worth restoring it.

    Our specialist may consider it impossible to restore your crosspiece; in this case, the crosspiece will be sent back. All transport costs, in this case, are paid by you.

    In the application form for the restoration of the crosspiece, as well as in the future, we can only accurately tell you the cost of the restoration of the crosspiece itself. You need to calculate the cost of transport services yourself. The website of the carrier company that will deliver the crosspiece can help you with this.

    The restoration period can take from 4 to 10 days. Depending on the workload of our specialists. The restoration period is counted from the day our employees receive the crosspiece.

    And it ends at the moment when the crosspiece is transferred to the “Crosspiece restored” status.

    As soon as the crosspiece changes to the “Crosspiece has been restored” status, an SMS with a corresponding notification is sent to your phone number (to which your account is registered in our store).

    After this, to return the crosspiece, you will need to place an “order” with this crosspiece, or add this crosspiece to an existing order. A crosspiece can only be added to an existing order if the order status is New or Pending or Awaiting Product Delivery.

    You can place an “order” for a cross either through your personal account on our website or by telephone.

    Payment for the restoration of the crosspiece is carried out according to the principle of payment for a regular order. It can be done either by prepayment or cash on delivery. Cash on delivery is possible only if the order is sent by the Novaya Poshta transport service.

    As for the restoration itself:

    The restoration of the “bushing” under the oil seal is carried out by replacing it with a new one. The new bushing is made from either a non-ferrous metal such as bronze or brass, or stainless steel. Bushing material selection not available. And it is carried out by a specialist who performs the work. The tolerance of the outer diameter of the sleeve is 0.1 mm. The bushing width tolerance is 0.5mm.

    The restoration of the shaft under the bearing is carried out only in the bearing seating area.

    The restoration of the shaft is carried out by melting ferrous metal onto the shaft and further processing it on a lathe. In the bearing landing area, the presence of small shells on the shaft surface is allowed. The total area of such shells should not exceed 20% of the bearing seating area.

    The tolerance of the outer diameter of the shaft in the bearing seating area is +0.02 mm.

    We reserve the right to edit these terms.

    Exploitation

    To prevent failure of the crosspiece, it is important to be attentive to the sounds that occur during the washing process. If the part becomes deformed, the user will hear squeaking and grinding noises . If rustling, knocking or any other extraneous sound occurs during operation of the machine, this should also alert you and cause you to check the condition of the cross.

    Both restoration and replacement of such a part will not cost a large sum, but the repair work is quite complex and painstaking, so it is often necessary to contact a professional technician.

    Crosspiece for Samsung washing machine - do-it-yourself repair and replacement

    How to remove a bearing from a washing machine drum: removal and replacement technology

    If extraneous noise occurs when the machine is running at maximum speed or minor water leaks appear from below, it is necessary to check the bearings.

    Replacing this element requires dismantling almost the entire household appliance.

    How to remove a bearing from a washing machine drum? First, it is better to theoretically study the whole process by watching a few videos on YouTube, and then start disassembling it.

    Preparing the tool

    The set of tools for dismantling a washing machine does not depend on its model; you will need:

    • two screwdrivers (slotted and cross);
    • pliers or round nose pliers;
    • open-end wrenches;
    • set of heads;
    • star key 17x19;
    • rubber mallet and copper-plated hammer;
    • steel drift or long pin;
    • sealant, WD-40 lubricant;
    • special puller.

    The last device on the list is necessary to remove the bearings without damaging the housing. It is used when lubricating the latter, when special care is needed.

    After selecting the tool, unplug the machine and install it in such a way that there is a good approach from all sides - this will make disassembly easier for you.

    Disassembling the tank

    In different models and brands of washing machines, disassembly is carried out differently, but we omit all the nuances. Detailed instructions can be obtained from the videos. So, the tank has been dismantled - now the task is to pull the drum out of it in order to get to the direct location of the bearings.

    In the case when it consists of two halves, it is already simpler: just unscrew the fastening screws or bolts and remove the latches. But some manufacturers save on fasteners by gluing both halves with a special composition of glue - in this case you will have to pick up a hacksaw.

    Dismantling technology

    After carrying out all the operations to separate the tank into two halves, we proceed to replacing the bearing, following these recommendations:

  • First, you need to unscrew the pulley mounting bolt using an asterisk; some craftsmen use a hammer and chisel.
  • Rocking from side to side, we remove the pulley housing to get to the location of the parts that require replacement.
  • Using a rubber mallet, knock out the shaft on the drum to disconnect the tank.
  • Using a puller, you need to remove the small bearing first, and then the large one.
  • If the replaced bearing is being disposed of, then you don’t have to take special care: just knock it out with a pin and a copper hammer.

    After this, lubricate the internal surfaces where the bearings were seated with WD-40 or an equivalent, wipe them with a clean cloth, removing all dirt. The new kit should be ready, you will learn how to install it from the attached video:

    Why replacement is needed

    If incorrect operation of the bearing assembly is detected, their urgent replacement is required, because delay is fraught with the following rather unpleasant consequences:

  • The housing falls apart - the outer ring remains in the tank, and the inner ring remains on the drum shaft.
  • The bearing ring can be removed from the tank only with the help of a specially sharpened tool; you cannot do without a specialist - there is a high probability of damage to the tank, with its subsequent replacement.
  • When the ring where the oil seal is located breaks, or the wear of the shaft as a result of beating of the bearing housing is too great, you will have to replace the cross or the entire drum.
  • Briefly about prices

    When you understand that changing bearings is inevitable, then you should not despair, even if you are not able to do it yourself. In service companies, such repairs will not cost you that much:

    • for front-loading machines - 1-2 thousand rubles;
    • for vertical - 1500 rubles;
    • replacement in the forecastle - from 2 thousand rubles.

    Prices by region may differ, but not by much; exact prices can be found in the service centers of your city.

    If bearing failure leads to water leakage, the heating element may burn out, then the cost of repairs increases. The worst case scenario is that the electronics system burns out, then buying a new machine is inevitable, the old one will only be suitable for disassembly for spare parts.

    DIY repair

    To inspect and check the condition of the crosspiece, you need to remove and disassemble the washing machine tank. In some models it can be reached through the top of the car, in others through the front panel.

    The most difficult disassembly process involves removing the front wall. What should be done:

    1. Shut off the water supply.

      We carry out our own repairs

    2. Disconnect the machine from the network.
    3. Drain the remaining water by unscrewing the intake hose and drain filter. The latter is located behind the hatch, at the bottom of the front panel.
    4. Move the SMA away from the wall.

    The drum cross is the base that ensures the operation of the moving parts of the washing machine.

    Any defects in the crosspiece can affect the operation of the machine in such a way that it will lead to the destruction of the bearings, drum, heating element, and, well, the tank housing.

    That’s why if you have any suspicions or you understand about the dilemmas with the cross, you need to immediately start repair work.

    Causes of crosspiece failure

    Generally speaking, all the reasons for the breakdown of the crosspiece come down to the inattention and carelessness of the user of the washing machine, who did not pay attention to its operation.

    In this case, you don’t even need to listen too much, because if the machine is brought to the point of breaking the drum cross, this means that it has been working for some time with a terrible creaking and iron grinding sound.

    What causes the spider to break?

    • Lack of bearings;
    • manufacturing defects;
    • hard water;
    • bad repair.

    The main reason is naturally untimely replacement of bearings, which led to their complete destruction, which in turn led to damage to the cross shaft.

    Pay attention! The destroyed bearing race and balls scratch it very much during rotation of the shaft, leading to the appearance of wear, which in turn leads to the fact that a new bearing cannot be installed on this shaft; replacement must be done just right.

    Factory defects are less common, although this is not so unique on machines from Italian companies. Why is this happening? The reason may be the quality of the alloy or lack of quality control during the production of devices. History is silent, but the fact remains that the crosspiece is destroyed.

    Even in an absolutely working LG washing machine or any other, the crosspiece can deteriorate from constant exposure to hard water. Although, of course, hard water is a secondary reason, since it makes it difficult for the drum to rotate, and this in turn damages the bearings, which already damage the cross shaft.

    Poor repairs can also be a reason for the crosspiece to break

    This is generally a separate topic for conversation, since there are different craftsmen who try to remove and change the cross bearing.

    Some, trying to remove the bearing with a grinder, cut off the shaft, others lick the threads, trying to unscrew the fastening bolt, in general, the meaning is clear, if the hands do not grow from there, nothing can be said here!

    Perhaps only the most experienced craftsman will be able to find out whether it is worthwhile to repair the crosspiece, it needs a replacement, or you can try to revive the part.

    It is necessary to study the wear of the shaft and the condition of the thread, so we recommend that you be extremely careful and if you have the slightest doubt about the serviceability of the shaft, contact the service center for advice. A faulty crosspiece must not be left in use.

    If the bearings of the crosspiece of the LG washing machine have failed and the shaft wear is small, then there is no need to change the entire part, much less the crosspiece along with the drum, as representatives of the ARDO service centers suggest to us.

    Such repairs will cost us almost more than a new washing machine; we can install new bearings separately.

    But if there is obvious damage to the cross shaft or its parts (especially the seats), replacing the part cannot be avoided.

    Repair or replacement?

    So, repairing this part of the LG washing machine or any other is likely only in this case if the bearings that are located in the tank lid sleeve are damaged.

    Separately, I would like to note the fact that some craftsmen install non-unique, unsuitable bearings that are not designed for a given load. Ultimately, the bearings are destroyed and repairs have to be done again.

    To prevent this from happening, you need to get bearings that will fit a specific LG washing machine (or another).

    To change the cross bearings of a washing machine you need to:

  • remove old bearings from the shaft (since they stick directly to the shaft);
  • remove old oil seals;
  • install new seals;
  • press in new bearings.
  • But, as they say, it's easier said than done. The main problem is related to the careful removal of old bearings from the drum cross shaft. Usually, warped bearings stick to the shaft seat so much that it is very difficult to pull them out. You have to make an effort.

    Under no circumstances should you hit the bearings with a hammer in an attempt to damage the race; together with the race, you can destroy the shaft, since it is made of soft metal.

    Knocking down bearings with a chisel is also quite unsafe, although you can still use a chisel, but in a little different way. How can you act?

    • Take a grinder or drill.
    • Make cuts on the old bearings on both sides.
    • Then install a chisel at the cut points and knock the bearing off the shaft.

    If there are cuts, it is easier to knock down the bearings; you don’t need much effort, and therefore there is less risk of damaging the shaft. The most important thing is not to rush, because haste is the enemy of any business.

    Old seals also need to be removed. At the same time, they are always removed in all cases, even if it seems to you that the seals will still work.

    It is better to spend extra pennies on seals than to have to do a new repair of an LG washing machine or another one soon because of them.

    We put new bearings and seals in place of the old ones, assemble the car and rejoice. It happens that bearings have difficulty seating in the bushing or do not want to seat at all.

    In this case, you can warm up the iron bushing a little with a blowtorch and carefully press the bearings in - they will hold tight! The crosspiece is attached to the outer wall of the drum with 6 bolts, in some cases with 3 bolts, unscrew these bolts, remove the crosspiece, install a new one and put the car back together.

    Fundamentally! Some models of washing machines have crosses that are welded to the drum. Since the crosspiece is inseparable from the drum, we change it together with it.

    Summing up the result, we note that repairing the drum of an LG machine or any other, or rather replacing the crosspiece is a very labor-intensive task. The main problem is not even in the repair or replacement of the cross itself, but in the long and tedious disassembly of the washing machine. If you are determined to complete the job, this article is for you!

    When and why do you need to change?

    LG washing machines have long conquered the market. This applies to a wide variety of models. Devices with a capacity of 5 to 8 kg are especially popular today. They are chosen by many consumers who want to buy high-quality, reliable and durable household appliances. However, even owners of such devices may encounter certain malfunctions and shortcomings in their operation. There can be a lot of reasons for this - it all depends on the specific problem that has arisen.

    Due to it, unhindered rotation is carried out. If you use this household appliance too often or do it without following all the necessary rules, this part may wear out greatly. The first signs of a problem can be noticed immediately. When a drum in a machine with a faulty bearing rotates, it makes noise, creaks or hums.

    The damaged part must be replaced as soon as possible

    It is risky to stall for time, because after some time the drum will stop spinning completely, which will subsequently cause the breakdown of such an important part as the electric motor. For this reason, it is very important to always keep control over the operation of such household appliances.

    In order for the bearing in the LG washing machine to last as long as possible, it is recommended to select direct drive models and place them on a perfectly flat surface. It is advisable to adjust the equipment according to the level.

    Step-by-step instruction

    Step-by-step instructions for replacing the cross:

    • Remove the top cover from the device. To do this, unscrew the bolts with which it is secured.

    • Remove the front wall, dismantle the control panel, cuff and UBL.
    • Remove the back wall of the washing machine. If the device is belt driven, then it is removed.
    • Disconnect the engine and remove the tank, unscrew the bolts that are located around the perimeter. There are a total of 14 of them in Samsung washing machines. If the tank is collapsible, then it is separated into 2 parts. With non-separable tanks the task is more complicated. Most often you have to change it completely, or cut it with a hacksaw (only a specialist can handle this task).
    • Assess the condition of bearings and seals. If they show signs of wear, it is better to replace them too.
    • Unscrew the crosspiece, which is fixed to the outer surface of the tank using two auxiliary bolts or one central bolt. You can knock out the axle using a hammer and chisel.
    • Remove the broken part and put a new one in its place. It should fit perfectly into the grooves. To do this, scroll it and find the optimal position. For better fixation, the bolts are lubricated and tightened.
    • Reassemble the washing machine in reverse order and check its operation.

    If the process of disassembling a washing machine is being carried out for the first time, you need to record all your actions on camera. This will allow you to assemble the device in the correct sequence.
